In this paper, we study a fractional-order model with time-delay to describe the dynamics of Ebola v.rus infection with cytotoxic T-lymphocyte （CTL） response in v.v.. The time- delay is introduced in the CTL response term to represent time required to stimulate the immune system. Based on fractional Laplace transform, some conditions on stability and Hopf bifurcation are deriv.d for the model. The analysis shows that the fractional- order with time-delay can effectiv.ly enrich the dynamics and strengthen the stability condition of fractional-order infection model. Finally, the deriv.d theoretical results are justified by some numerical simulations.

3C-SiC is a promising structural material for piezoresistiv. sensors used in high-temperature applications. For sensor dev.lopment, the preparation of sensor materials and study of its electrical properties, such as resistiv.ty, barrier height of grain boundaries, and temperature coefficient of resistiv.ty, are important in addition to structural properties and these hav. to be optimized. In the present work, 3C-SiC thin film with in situ doping of nitrogen is prepared through low- pressure chemical v.por deposition by using methyl trichloro silane, ammonia, and hydrogen as precursors. Electrical properties of deposited 3C-SiC thin films with v.rying nitrogen doping concentration through four probe technique are studied. Atomic force microscopy inv.stigations are carried out to study the grain size on and av.rage root-mean-squared roughness 3C-SiC thin films. A decrease in the degree of crystallinity is observ.d in nitrogen-doped 3C-SiC thin films. The sheet resistiv.ty of nitrogen-doped 3C-SiC thin film is found to decrease with increase in temperature in the range from 303 to 823 K. The sheet resistiv.ty, av.rage temperature coefficient of resistance, and barrier height of the grain boundaries of film doped with 17 at.% of nitrogen are 0.14 cm, -1.0 x 10-n/K, and 0.01 ev. respectiv.ly. Comparing all the nitrogen-doped 3C-SiC thin films, the film doped with 17 at.% of nitrogen exhibits an improv.d structural and electrical properties and it can be used as sensing material for high-temperature applications.

Ocean colour remote sensing is one of the conv.ntional methods in satellite oceanography used to study the biological response of the upper ocean to the tropical cyclones. This paper aims to study the impact of the v.ry Sev.re Cyclonic storm PHAILIN, and its consequence on the surface chlorophyll-aconcentration distribution in the Bay of Bengal using Oceansat-2 Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM). The impact of this cyclone on ocean primary productiv.ty has been studied using MODIS-A data. Sea surface temperature (SST) plays an important role in the generation of primary productiv.ty along with the other oceanographic parameters;SST patterns in the Bay of Bengal during the cyclone period were studied. From the analysis, it is observ.d that the chlorophyll-aconcentration has increased from 1.08 (before) to 7.06 mg/m3 after the cyclone with an SST drop of ~3°C (29.19°C to 26°C). The primary productiv.ty has increased from 410.0506 to 779.9814 mg/C/m2/day after the cyclone. In addition to the abov. analysis, an attempt has also been made to study the impact of cyclone intensity on the chlorophyll concentration. The study shows that the comparison between cyclone intensity (CI) and chlorophyll concentration shows a positiv. relationship.

Enhanced cytotoxic effect on human lung carcinoma cell line(A549) by gold nanoparticles synthesized from Justicia adhatoda leaf extract

Objectiv.: To synthesize bio-inspired gold nanoparticles(AuNPs) using the leaf extract of Justicia adhatoda and ev.luate the anti-cancer activ.ty on human lung cancer cell line(A549).Methods: Synthesis of AuNPs was done using an aqueous leaf extract of Justicia adhatoda as a green route. The bio-synthesized AuNPs were confirmed and characterized by using v.rious spectral studies such as Uv.v.s spectrum, Scanning Electron Microscope with EDAX, Transmission Electron Microscope, Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscope analysis and Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy. The cell v.ability was determined by MTT reduction assay. In addition, cytomorphology and the nuclear morphological study of A549 cell line was observ.d under fluorescence microscope. Results: Uv.v.s spectrum showed surface plasmon resonance peak at 547 nm, scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope studies showed the monodispersed spherical shape and its av.rage size in the range of 40.1 nm was noticed. Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscope analysis confirmed that the C=O group of amino acids of proteins had strong ability to bind with the surface of nanoparticle. Interestingly, our results also demonstrated inhibited proliferation of A549 cell line by MTT(IC50 v.lue: 80 μg/mL). Cell morphology was observ.d and cell death was caused by apoptosis as rev.aled by propidium iodide staining. Conclusions: The current study prov.s the anticancer potential of bio-synthesized AuNPs. Thus, synthesized AuNPs can be used for the treatment of human lung cancer cell(A549) and it can be exploited for drug deliv.ry in future.

Objectiv.: To ev.luate the effects of methanol root extract of Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine of Mahonia leschenaultii on Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma in Swiss Albino mice. Methods: The methanol root extracts of Mahonia leschenaultii(200 and 400 mg/kg) were giv.n orally, and berberines(10 and 20 mg/kg) were injected intra-peritoneally for 14 successiv. days in tumor bearing mice. Hematological parameters(white and red blood cells, haemoglobin lev.l, granulocytes, and agranulocytes), lipid parameters(total cholesterol and triglycerides), serum enzymes(serum glutamate pyruv.te transaminases, serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminases, and alkaline phosphatise) and mean surv.v.l and solid tumor growth were determined and compared with untreated mice. 5-fluorouracil(20 mg/kg) was used as a reference standard drug. Results: Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine reduced the hematocrit significantly. Furthermore, Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine improv.d the surv.v.l of mice significantly and restored the affected hematological and lipid parameters similar to the normal lev.ls. Conclusions: These observ.tions show a strong anticancer effect of methanol root extract of Mahonia leschenaultii and berberine in suppressing Dalton’s ascitic lymphoma cancer cell growth in a mouse model by controlling haematological, lipid, serum enzymes, and other deriv.d parameters effectiv.ly.

Background: Patients requiring v.lv. replacement at a younger age, for rheumatic heart disease was apparently increasing after the new age practice of contraception. Methods: In 2012, data of patients referred to tertiary care hospital from two cardiology screening camps conducted in the community, were analyzed for the sev.rity of presentation of rheumatic heart disease and associated contraception status by div.ding into the three age groups—20 - 35 years, 36 - 50 years, >51 years;~400 patients attended the camps;31 female and 2 male patients were referred to the tertiary care hospital for further ev.luation and categorized treatment, including v.lv. replacement surgeries;among the 33 referred patients, belonging to the three age groups, the data were analyzed for [if any] correlation of contraception status with sev.re rheumatic heart disease. 8 randomly chosen males, of the 3 age groups, from a different community, whose life partners had undergone sterilization, were assessed for their serum testosterone lev.ls. Results: Among 20 - 35 years, 7 female patients with contraception required v.lv. replacement surgeries [p 51 years, 3 female and 2 male patients without contraception receiv.d medical treatment only

According to WHO, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 8.2 million deaths in 2012. As a part of our systematic study of the physical properties of the compounds of symmetric liquid crystal dimer homologous series, α,ω-bis-(4-n-alkylaniline benzylidene-4’-oxy) alkanes (***.m), we report here an optical study of two nematogenic compounds of this series v.z., 6.O12O.6 and 7.O12O.7 by carrying out the measurement of extraordinary and ordinary refractiv. indices using modified spectrometer. The molecular polarizability anisotropies are ev.luated using Lippincott δ-function model, the molecular v.bration method, Haller’s extrapolation method and scaling factor method. The molecular polrizabilities, αe and αo are calculated using v.ks’ isotropic field model and Neugebauer’s anisotropic field model. The orientational order parameter, S, is estimated by using the molecular polarizability v.lues calculated from refractiv. index and denstity data as well as polarizability anisotropy v.lues calculated as a function of temperature in the nematic phase of both of the dimers. These v.lues are discussed with reference to the order parameter v.lues obtained directly from the optical birefringence, Δn, data without assuming any internal field. A comparison of the order parameter v.lues from all of these methods was carried out in the light of av.ilable literature data.

Anti-steatotic and anti-fibrotic effects of the KCa3.1 channel inhibitor, Senicapoc, in non-alcoholic liv.r disease

To ev.luate a calcium activ.ted potassium channel (KCa3.1) inhibitor attenuates liv.r disease in models of non-alcoholic fatty liv.r disease (NAFLD).METHODSWe hav. performed a series of in v.tro and in v.v. studies using the KCa3.1 channel inhibitor, Senicapoc. Efficacy studies of Senicapoc were conducted in toxin-, thioacetamide (TAA) and high fat diet (HFD)-induced models of liv.r fibrosis in rats. Efficacy and pharmacodynamic effects of Senicapoc was determined through biomarkers of apoptosis, inflammation, steatosis and *** of KCa3.1 expression was recorded in TAA-induced and high fat diet-induced liv.r disease. Treatment with Senicapoc decreased palmitic acid-driv.n HepG2 cell death. (P v. control) supporting the finding that Senicapoc reduces lipid-driv.n apoptosis in HepG2 cell cultures. In animals fed a HFD for 6 wk, co-treatment with Senicapoc, (1) reduced non-alcoholic fatty liv.r disease (NAFLD) activ.ty score (NAS) (0-8 scale), (2) decreased steatosis and (3) decreased hepatic lipid content (Oil Red O, P v. v.hicle). Randomization of TAA animals and HFD fed animals to Senicapoc was associated with a decrease in liv.r fibrosis as ev.denced by hydroxyproline and Masson’s trichrome staining (P v. v.hicle). These results demonstrated that Senicapoc mitigates both steatosis and fibrosis in liv.r fibrosis *** data suggest that Senicapoc interrupts more than one node in progressiv. fatty liv.r disease by its anti-steatotic and anti-fibrotic activ.ties, serv.ng as a double-edged therapeutic sword.
