RBC aggregation, deformation and adhesion to endothelium: Role of nitric oxide deriv.d from L-Arginine and sodium nitroprusside

Red blood cells (RBCs) are the most abundant human blood cells. RBC aggregation and deformation strongly determine blood v.scosity which impacts hemorheology and microcirculation. In turn, RBC properties depend on different endogenous and exogenous factors. One such factor is nitric oxide (NO), which is mainly produced by endothelial cells (EC) from L-arginine amino acid in the circulatory system. Since the mechanisms of the RBC-endothelium interplay are not clear up to date and considering its possible clinical importance, the aims of this study are to inv.stigate in v.tro: (1) The effect of L-arginine induced NO on RBC aggregation and adhesion to endothelium; (2) the NO effect on RBC aggregation and deformation induced by L-arginine and sodium nitroprusside without the presence of endothelium in the samples. The RBC aggregation and adhesion to a monolayer of EC were studied using optical tweezers (OT). The RBC deformability and aggregation without endothelium in the samples were studied using the flow chamber method and myrenne aggregometer. We confirmed that NO increases deformability and decreases aggregation of RBCs. We showed that the soluble guanylate cyclase pathway appears to be the only NO signaling pathway inv.lv.d. In the samples with the endothelium, the "bell-shaped" dependence of RBC aggregation force on L-arginine concentration was observ.d, which improv.s our k.owledge about the process of NO production by endothelium. Additionally, data related to L-arginine accumulation by endothelium were obtained: Necessity of the presence of extracellular L-arginine stated by other authors was put under question. In our study, NO decreased the RBC-endothelium adhesion, howev.r, the tendency appeared to be weak.and was not confirmed in another set of experiments. To our k.owledge, this is the first attempt to measure the forces of RBC adhesion to endothelium monolayer with OT.

The present study inv.stigates the physical and chemical characteristics,behav.or in v.tro and in v.v.,and biocompatibility of coatings containing Ta_(2)O_(5),which are obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)on mA8 magnesium *** obtained coatings demonstrate in v.v. biocompatibility and in v.tro *** to the base PEO coating,the layers containing Ta_(2)O_(5)facilitate the dev.lopment of apatite in simulated body fluid,suggesting that the inclusion of nanoparticles improv.s bioactiv.ty of the *** was found that incorporation of Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles increases roughness and porosity of the formed layers by increasing particle concentration in electrolytes for the PEO process contributing to sufficient soft tissue ingrowth in *** on in v.v. studies,these coatings also prov.de fav.rable tissue response and minimal inflammatory reaction in comparison with the bare magnesium alloy due to protection of liv.ng tissues from deleterious corrosion ev.nts of magnesium implant such as local alk.lization and intense hydrogen *** results obtained in the present study concluded biocompatibility,tissue integration of the PEO coatings containing Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles mak.ng them a promising protectiv. layer for biodegradable magnesium implants.

In this study,a calcium-phosphate coating was formed on a mg-mn-Ce alloy by the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO).The antibiotic v.ncomycin,widely used in the treatment of infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus(***),was impregnated into the *** with v.ncomycin showed high bactericidal activ.ty against *** mechanical and electrochemical properties of the formed coatings were studied,as well as in v.tro cytotoxicity tests and in v.v. tests on mature male rats were *** to SEm,EDS,XRD and XPS data,coatings had a dev.loped morphology and contained hydroxyapatite,which indicates high *** analysis of roughness of coatings without and with v.ncomycin did not rev.al any differences,confirming the high roughness of the *** electrochemical tests,an increase in corrosion resistance by more than two times after the application of PEO coatings was *** to the results of an in v.v. study,after 28 days of the implantation of samples with calcium phosphate PEO coating and v.ncomycin,no signs of inflammation were observ.d,while an inflammatory reaction dev.loped in the area of implantation of bare alloy,followed by *** release tests from the coatings show a sharp decrease in the concentration of the released antibiotic on day 7 and then a gradual decrease until day *** the experiment,no significant dev.ations in the condition and behav.or of the animals were observ.d;clinical tests did not rev.al a systemic toxic reaction.

Fiv. perov.k.te ceramics samples of Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) with x=0.00,0.05,0.10,0.15,and 0.20 were synthesized using the conv.ntional solid-state reaction *** prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transforms infrared(FTIR),and Uv.v.s *** shielding properties against ionizing radiation were also *** XRD analysis shows the perov.k.te cubic structure as the major phase in all *** FTIR rev.als a distinctiv. band around 614-620 cm^(-1) ascribed to the antisymmetric O-Sn-O ***-v.s spectroscopy was used to determine the bandgap according to diffuse reflectance,and the results display a fixed enhancement in the bandgap from 3.2 to 3.3 ev.for all ***-ray shielding properties of the synthesized samples were experimentally measured and compared with XCOm computational *** relativ. differences(Δ,%)between experimental and theo retical v.lues are low and fall within the 0.446%-7.10%*** addition of Er leads to the enhanced density,neutron,and gamma shielding *** contrast,charged particles’shielding parameters gradually reduce with rising Er *** results suggest that Ba_(1-x)Er_(x)SnO_(3) samples can be used in different radiation shielding applications.

This paper theoretically studies the impurity states and the effects of impurity concentration and configuration on the optical,electrical,and statistical properties of CdSe nanoplatelets(NPLs).An image charge-based model of electron-impurity interaction is *** charge-carrier energy spectra and corresponding wav. functions depending on the impurity number and configuration are *** electron binding energies are calculated for different NPL *** is shown that the image charge-based interaction potential that arises due to the dielectric constants mismatch is much stronger than the interaction potential that does not tak. such a mismatch into ***,it is demonstrated that the binding energies are increasing with the number of *** calculate the canonical partition function using the energy lev.ls of the electron,which in turn is used to obtain the mean energy,heat capacity,and entropy of the non-interacting electron *** thermodynamic properties of the non-interacting electron gas that depend on the geometric parameters of the NPL,impurity number,configuration,and temperature are studied.
