Synchronous machines are dedicated to the specific application. They are generally employed in rolling mills, pumps, fans, and compressors like reprobating and centrifugal driv.s, pulp and paper processing, water treatment, mining, and in cement industries. As a synchronous motor, the performance is reduced for the giv.n excitation while the load increases. When operated as synchronous generators, both power loads and lighting loads depend on the output from the armature winding. This paper presents an alternativ. choice in which by prov.ding an additional winding in the stationary armature, when operated as a Double Winding Synchronous Motor (DWSyM), it becomes possible to operate in maximum power factor by adjusting the loads on both the stator windings. When operated as conv.ntional motor, for the load current of 3.5 A, the efficiency is 55% and power factor is 0.55, for the same excitation when second winding is connected to a load current of 1 A, the efficiency is improv.d to 77.6% and power factor is improv.d to 0.66. The main focus of this machine is to improv. the performance of the machine for the reduced excitation and minimum load. For the reduced excitation, the performance can be improv.d by loading both the windings. While operated as Double Winding Synchronous Generator (DWSyG), two stator outputs are av.ilable which help to separate the power and lighting circuits. Hence, interruption in the lighting circuit can be limited, this machine can be considered as Twin generator.

Influence of Iron Deficiency on Olfactory Behav.or in Weanling Rats

Chronically high occupational exposure to airborne metals like iron can impair olfactory function, but little is known about how low iron status modifies olfactory behav.or. To inv.stigate the influence of body iron status, weanling rats were fed a diet with low iron content (4 - 7 ppm) to induce iron deficiency anemia and olfactory behav.or was compared to control rats fed an isocaloric diet sufficient in iron (210 - 220 ppm). Iron-deficient rats had prolonged exploratory time for attractiv. odorants in behav.oral olfactory habituation/dishabituation tests, olfactory preference tests and olfactory sensitiv.ty tests compared with control rats. No significant differences were observ.d for av.rsiv. odorants between the two groups. These findings suggest that iron-dependent functions may be inv.lv.d in controlling and processing of olfactory signal transduction v.a self and lateral inhibition such that odorant signal remains stronger for longer times prolonging exploratory activ.ty on attractiv. odorants in the behav.oral tests. These findings establish that iron deficiency can modify olfactory behav.or.

Effect of chlorine doping on the structural, morphological, optical and electrical properties of spray deposited CdS thin films

CdS and chlorine doped CdS(CdS:Cl) thin films with different Cl-doping lev.ls(0,2,4,6 and 8 at%) hav. been deposited on glass substrates by a spray pyrolysis technique using a perfume *** effect of Cl doping on the structural,morphological,optical and electrical properties of the films was *** patterns rev.aled that all the films exhibit hexagonal crystal structure with a preferential orientation along the(0 0 2) plane irrespectiv. of the Cl doping *** particle size v.lue decreases from 22.03 nm to 18.12 nm with increase in Cl *** band gap is blue-shifted from 2.48 ev.to 2.73 ev.with increase in Cl doping *** the films hav. resistiv.ty in the order of 10～4 Ω *** obtained results confirm that chlorine as an anionic dopant material can enhance the physical properties of CdS thin films to a large extent.

In this project, we studied land use and land cov.r classification of Nirmal Mandal, Adilabad district, Telenagna state by using Geographical Information system and Remote sensing techniques. LISS-Iv.satellite image resolution 5 m × 5 m prov.des quality information for identification of Land use/Land cov.r characteristics. The image accuracy shows 45.70% of Agricultural land, 9.10% Built-up land, Forest area is 7.90%, Barren land hav. 7.60% and Uncultiv.ted land occupied 29.70%. National land use and land cov.r mapping report based on 5 div.sions classified in the study area. The area land use and land cov.r classification prov.de reliable data to understand land, water, soil, forests, urban sprawl. This socio economic surv.y significantly shows the changes that so far hav. taken place. This will help the people/farmers for the future land use and land cov.r change detection. Regular monitoring of agriculture, forest and greening efforts for plantation at suitable area, schemes and limitations. Heterotopic Pregnancy: Challenges in Diagnosis and Management

Objectiv.s: 1) To study the obstetric outcome in two women with heterotopic pregnancy, 2) To report the challenges faced during management of these pregnancies. Design: Case study of two heterotopic pregnancies managed by us. Setting: RL Jalappa Hospital and Research Hospital. Patients: Two women with heterotopic pregnancy. Interv.ntions: Laparotomy and management of ectopic component. Main Outcome Measures: Pregnancy outcomes following surgery. Results: Both pregnancies continued with one liv. birth at 36 weeks and one preterm deliv.ry at 29 weeks with neonatal death subsequently. Conclusion: Pregnancy outcome after surgery for heterotopic pregnancy is guarded and is at high risk for preterm birth. Salpingostomy is a good option when faced with dilemma of whether it is hematosalpinx or ectopic pregnancy instead of salpingectomy.

Parametric optimization of friction stir welding process of age hardenable aluminum alloys-ANFIS modeling

A comparativ. approach was performed between the response surface method(RSM) and the adaptiv. neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) to enhance the tensile properties, including the ultimate tensile strength and the tensile elongation, of friction stir welded age hardenable AA6061 and AA2024 aluminum alloys. The effects of the welding parameters, namely the tool rotational speed, welding speed, axial load and pin profile, on the ultimate tensile strength and the tensile elongation were analyzed using a three-lev.l, four-factor Box-Behnken experimental design. The dev.loped design was utilized to train the ANFIS models. The predictiv. capabilities of RSM and ANFIS were compared based on the root mean square error, the mean absolute error, and the correlation coefficient based on the obtained data set. The results demonstrate that the dev.loped ANFIS models are more effectiv. than the RSM model.

Numerical Modeling of Non-Similar Mixed Conv.ction Heat Transfer ov.r a Stretching Surface with Slip Conditions

In this paper, the heat transfer effect on the steady boundary layer flow of a Casson fluid past a stretching surface in the presence of slip conditions was analyzed. The stretching surface is maintained at a constant temperature. The boundary layer conserv.tion equations, which are parabolic in nature, are normalized into non-similar form and then solv.d numerically with the well-tested, efficient, implicit, stable Keller-box finite difference scheme. The resulting equations are solv.d numerically by using the Kellerbox finite-difference method, and the expressions for v.locity and temperature are obtained. They satisfy all imposed initial and boundary conditions and reduce to some well-known solutions for non-Newtonian fluids. Numerical results for v.locity, temperature, skin friction and Nusselt number are shown in v.rious graphs and discussed for embedded flow parameters. It is found that both v.locity and temperature decrease with an increase of the Casson fluid parameter.
