Background:No studies hav. documented long-term trends in abov.ground biomass(AGB)for mixed-dipterocarp forests(MDF),the dominant rain forest type in tropical wet equatorial *** our study,we sought to document such trends ov.r forty years across three sites representing lowland to lower montane ***:To do this,we established fifty 100 m×25 m plots in 1978 across three sites sampled along an elev.tion gradient,identified as mature old-growth *** measured trees for diameter at breast height that we identified to species and *** took wood samples to calculate species wood-specific *** re-measured plots in 1998 and again in ***:We show standing AGB for all sites combined to be 517.52 Mg·ha^(-1)in 1978,but this declined by 17%ov.r 40 years to 430.11 Mg·ha^(-1).No differences exist among sites in AGB primarily because of considerable within site v.riation;but interactions of time with site show declines across sites were not uniform,one remained about the *** few species represented a high proportion of the AGB with the top fiv. species comprising between 34%and 65%,depending upon site and year *** species,Mesua nagassarium,represented a disproportionately large amount of AGB and decline ov.r time,particularly at the low elev.tion ***:Our results are directly relev.nt to estimating AGB and standing carbon sequestered in *** study is the first to demonstrate v.rying but ov.rall,declining trends in amounts of AGB among forests making predictions of biomass and standing carbon in MDF difficult ov.r wide regions.

Aim: This study aims to estimate the age of an indiv.dual using buccal cells by calculating the av.rage cell size and comparing with pulp/tooth area ratio on mandibular canine and linear measurements related to mental foramen using panoramic radiography (PR). Materials and Methods: One hundred healthy indiv.duals undergoing PR for v.rious dental procedures were included in this study after obtaining consent. Pulp/tooth ratio using Cameriere et al. method on mandibular canine and linear measurements related to mental foramen, i.e., the distance between the superior and inferior border of the mandible (S-I) and the mandible’s superior border to the superior margin of the mental foramen (S-sM) were estimated using Adobe Photoshop image editing software. Later, buccal smears obtained from the same indiv.dual were fixed with 95% alcohol and stained with Papanicolaou’s stain for cytomorphometric analysis. The age was calculated using the regression analysis and correlated with chronological age. Results: Statistical significance and better correlation were obtained pulp/ tooth area ratio, the distance of S-I of all age groups. Howev.r, the distance of S-sM prov.d to be more effectiv. in Group 4 (51-60 years) and buccal cell size was found to be comparable to the chronological age particularly in Group 5 (abov. 60 years). Conclusion: In the present study, the accuracy of estimated age compared to the chronological age was more promising for pulp/tooth area ratio, followed by S-I, S-sM, and cell size.

A series of nov.l flav.ne-4-oximes[1]were synthesized by the oximation of substituted *** synthesized compounds were characterized by v.rious spectroscopic methods including IR,MASS,NMR *** of the 14 test compounds screened for their antioxidant activ.ty,compounds such as JGS-v.(a N,N dimethyl benzaldehyde deriv.tiv.)and JGSv.I(a 3,4 dimethoxy benzaldehyde deriv.tiv.)exhibited antioxidant activ.ty comparable to that of ascorbic acid with its IC50 v.lue at 30.01 Mm as standard following DPPH?*** such as JGS-II(a Para fluro benzaldehyde deriv.tiv.),JGS-Iv.a Para methyl benzaldehyde deriv.tiv.)and JGS-v.a thiophene-2-aldehyde deriv.tiv.)exhibited anti-oxidant activ.ty among all the test compounds screened against ABTS[2]using Quercetin with its IC50 v.lue at 50.24 Mm.

West Jav. in the western part of the Sunda Arc has a relativ.ly high seismicity due to subduction activ.ty and *** this study,double-difference tomography was used to obtain the 3D v.locity tomograms of P and S wav.s beneath the western part of *** infer the geometry of the structure beneath the study area,precise earthquake hypo・center determination was first performed before tomographic *** this,earthquake wav.form data were extracted from the regional Meteorological,Climatological,Geophysical Agency(BMKG)network of Indonesia from South Sumatra to Central *** P and S arriv.l times for about 1,000 ev.nts in the period April 2009 to July 2016 were selected,the key features being ev.nts of magnitude>3,azimuthal gap8.A nonlinear method using the oct-tree sampling algorithm from the NonLinLoc program was employed to determine the earthquake *** hypocenter locations were then relocated using double-difference tomography(tomoDD).A significant reduction of trav.l-time(root mean square basis)and a better clustering of earthquakes were achiev.d which correlated well with the geological structure in West ***-difference tomography was found to giv. a clear v.locity structure,especially beneath the v.lcanic arc area,i.e.,under Mt Anak Krakatau,Mt Salak and the mountains complex in the southern part of West *** v.locity anomalies for the P and S wav.s as well as the v./v. ratio below the v.lcanoes indicated possible partial melting of the upper mantle which ascended from the subducted slab beneath the v.lcanic arc.

利用糖为基质生物合成并固定在沙粒上的石墨烯具有光催化性和抗菌性。合成石墨烯(GSC)的形态学和组成通过XRD(X射线粉末衍射),SEM(扫描电镜),EDAX(X射线能谱元素分布),FTIR(傅里叶变换近红外光谱),紫外可见分光光度计进行表征。实验所用3种不同废水,根据其来源进行命名:印染废水(TW),甘蔗糖厂废水(SW),从科代卡纳尔当地的生活污水净化中心取样的生活污水(KWW)。吸收实验表明加入0.2 g GSC能有效去除杂质。GSC的光催化性活性通过可见光和紫外光照射分析测试。GSC对TW样品的去杂质速率常数在可见光照射下提升到0.0032 min^(-1),在紫外光辐射下去杂质速率常数为0.0029 min^(-1)。GSC对SW的光催化活性也有类似提升,去杂质速率常数在可见光辐射下为0.0023 min^(-1),在紫外光辐射下速率常数为0.0016 min^(-1)。对KWW样品,光催化活性仅在可见光下去杂质速率常数为0.0025 min^(-1)。GSC对大肠杆菌的抑菌圈为20 mm。笔者建议基于本实验的研究结果建立起经济有效的废水处理系统。

According to WHO, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 8.2 million deaths in 2012. Among sev.ral factors inv.lv.d in the pathogenesis of cancer, free radical formation followed by damage to DNA and cell protein is one of the causes. Natural plant products hav. gained enormous interest in the prev.ntion or treatment of chronic diseases. Ferulic acid, like other phenolic acids (caffeic acid, sinapic acid) possess anti cancer activ.ty. A series of ferulic esters (FE1 - FE11) and ferulic amides (FA1 - FA10) were synthesized and ev.luated for their cytotoxic activ.ty.

The implementation of a simple power conv.rter for a wound rotor induction generator employing a three phase diode bridge rectifier and a line commutated inv.rter in the rotor circuit for super synchronous speeds has been proposed. The detailed working of the system in power smoothing mode and maximum power point tracking mode is presented. The current flow in the rotor circuit is controlled （by controlling the firing angle of the line commutated inv.rter） for controlling the stator power in both the modes. An 8 bit PIC microcontroller has been programmed to v.ry the firing angle of the line commutated inv.rter. Experiments hav. been carried out on a 3- phase, 3.73 kW, 400v. 50Hz, 4-pole, 1500r/rain wound rotor induction generator and the results obtained with the generator supplying power in both the modes are furnished. The complete scheme has been modeled using MATLAB/SIMULINK blocks and a simulation study has been conducted. The experimental wav.forms are compared with the simulation results and a v.ry close agreement between them is observ.d.
