Security Regulations in mexican Renewable Energies: Case of Geothermal Projects

A review of natural resources existing in méxico is done. The description of the renewable energies for electricity generation operating at date along the country, includes hydro, wind, solar, biomass and geothermal, among others. The installed capacity (to 2012) in méxico for electric generation from renewable energies is equivalent to 22% of total generation capacity. méxico has geothermal resources, which can be classified as high and low enthalpy, and of hot dry rock. To date, the exploitation has focused mainly on high enthalpy geothermal fields. Geothermal power plants do not burn fuel, preventing gas emissions helping to reduce global warming and greenhouse effect. Security risks in méxico geothermal fields, as a part of renewable energies linked to Smart Grids, are described emphasizing their geographical locations to facilitate the exposure to dangerous events. The results about research on mexican Official Norms protecting environment related with geothermal operation projects are shown. The mexican geothermal projects have developed under rules that provide security to workers and people, avoiding impacts on the environment. However, it was found that it necessarily emphasized previsions to damages and remedial actions for grids due to risks by natural contingencies (cyclones, winds, earthquakes) and by artificial causes such as vandalism (grids breaking, fire, explosions, etc.). Unfortunately, there are no preventive norms against natural risks. After all the analyses carried out, security must be considered by nature a dynamic and ever-changing process.

The presenilin genes(PSEN1 and PSEN2)are mainly responsible for causing early-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease,harboring~300 causative mutations,and representing~90%of all mutations associated with a very aggressive disease *** 1 is the catalytic core of theγ-secretase complex that conducts the intramembranous proteolytic excision of multiple transmembrane proteins like the amyloid precursor protein,Notch-1,N-and E-cadherin,LRP,Syndecan,Delta,Jagged,CD44,ErbB4,and *** 1 plays an essential role in neural progenitor maintenance,neurogenesis,neurite outgrowth,synaptic function,neuronal function,myelination,and ***,an imbalance caused by mutations in presenilin 1/γ-secretase might cause aberrant signaling,synaptic dysfunction,memory impairment,and increased Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio,contributing to neurodegeneration during the initial stages of Alzheimer’s disease *** review focuses on the neuronal differentiation dysregulation mediated by PSEN1 mutations in Alzheimer’s ***,we emphasize the importance of Alzheimer’s disease-induced pluripotent stem cells models in analyzing PSEN1 mutations implication over the early stages of the Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis throughout neuronal differentiation impairment.

metabolic syndrome as a risk factor for gallstone disease

AIm: To establish an association between the presence of metabolic syndrome and the development of gallstone disease. mETHODS: We carried out a cross-sectional study in a check-up unit in a university hospital in mexico City. We enrolled 245 subjects, comprising 65 subjects with gallstones (36 women, 29 men) and 180 controls (79 women and 101 men without gallstones). Body mass index, waist circumference, blood pressure, plasma insulin, and serum lipids and lipoproteins levels were measured. Insulin resistance was calculated by homeostasis model assessment. Unconditional logistic regression analysis (univariate and multivariate) was used to calculate the risk of gallstone disease associated with the presence of at least three of the criteria (Adult Treatment Panel Ⅲ). Analyses were adjusted for age and sex. RESULTS: Among 245 subjects, metabolic syndrome was present in 40% of gallstone disease subjects, compared with 17.2% of the controls, adjusted by age and gender (odds ratio (OR) = 2.79; 95%CI, 1.46-5.33; P= 0.002), a dose-dependent effect was observed with each component of metabolic syndrome (OR=2.36, 95%CI, 0.72-7.71; P= 0.16 with one component and OR = 5.54, 95%CI, 1.35-22.74; P = 0.02 with four components of metabolic syndrome). Homeostasis model assessment was significantly associated with gallstone disease (adjusted OR = 2.25; 95%CI, 1.08-4.69; P= 0.03). CONCLUSION: We conclude that as for cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus, gallstone disease appears to be strongly associated with metabolic syndrome.

Sanger Sequencing Implementation in Clinically Ill Patients for Bacterial and Fungal Pathogens Identification

The diagnosis of bacterial or fungal infections requires the identification of the pathogen etiology in the shortest time possible. Although some biomarkers are used as indicators of bacterial infections, their specificity and sensitivity are highly variable, and there is no direct relationship between the level increase of these biomarkers for mycosis. It is common to obtain negative microbiological cultures in patients infected by non-culturable, intracellular bacteria or mycosis, even though there is a high clinical suspicion of infection. This study identifies the pathogen present in critically infected patients through 16S and 18S/eEF1 genes detection by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) coupled with Sanger sequencing. Thirty clinical samples were evaluated by PCR, of which 40% were positive for fungi, 23.33% for bacteria, 26.7% for fungi and bacteria, and 10% for no pathogen. The PCRs outcomes period for bacteria or fungi was one day compared to seven and up to 14 days (on average) of microbiological culture for bacteria and fungi. Then, we assessed the relationship with the most used biomarkers (procalcitonin, C-reactive protein, globular sedimentation velocity, and the neutrophil-lymphocyte index). This combination of molecular techniques has been shown as helpful in identifying intracellular bacteria and fungi that are difficult to culture by conventional methods. Screening with genomic markers 16S and 18S/eEF1 by PCR allowed us to optimize the time to obtain the result of the infection caused by bacteria or fungi. Also, identifying the specific etiological microorganism by Sanger sequencing was very helpful in avoiding the progression of the disease and setting targeted treatment with better clinical outcomes.

This paper,reports the performance of a wastewater treatment scale-pilot plant to treat 2 GPm(Gallons per minute)discharges with 5,205 mg/L of pollutants expressed in COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand),from“Lomas de la maestransa”a small community in morelia City,michoacan,*** scale-pilot plant is a train with(1)pretreatment with a triturated pump for floating solid,(2)primary treatment with“in line”coagulation,and rapid filtration to retain suspended colloids and dissolved solids higher of 5μm diameter,(3)double advanced oxidation as secondary treatment with ozone and heterogeneous photo catalysis to oxidize volatile solids,and(4)tertiary treatment with activated carbon to retain refractory *** performance was analyzed by a certified laboratory that belongs to Potable Water,Sewage and Sanitation Department from morelia City *** show that treated water effluent complied with the mexican Official Standard NOm-001-SEmARNAT-1996 for discharges into national waters,with exception of fecal coliforms,since the raw water contains an average of 64,228,351 mNP/100 mL of fecal coliforms,and in spite that we obtained a 99.998%efficiency,the maximum level allowable 2,000 mPN/100 mL standard,was exceeded by 400 mPN/100 *** this experience,the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with a residual chlorine tank to keep a 1.5 ppm chlorine residual concentration to keep the treated water *** project was possible because we had the support of the morelia Sanitation Department.

Logarithm of a Function, a Well-Posed Inverse Problem

It poses the inverse problem that consists in finding the logarithm of a function. It shows that when the function is holomorphic in a simply connected domain , the solution at the inverse problem exists and is unique if a branch of the logarithm is fixed. In addition, it’s demonstrated that when the function is continuous in a domain , where is Hausdorff space and connected by paths. The solution of the problem exists and is unique if a branch of the logarithm is fixed and is stable;for what in this case, the inverse problem turns out to be well-posed.

Tubuliform silk glands were dissected from Nephila clavipes spiders,and silk gut fibers were produced by immersing the glands in a mild acid solution and subsequent *** tensile properties of the as produced fibers were obtained through tensile tests,and the stress–strain curves were compared with those of naturally spun tubuliform silk *** influence on the mechanical properties of the fibers after immersion in water and drying was also *** microstructure of the silk guts was obtained by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).It was found that the stress–strain curves of the stretched tubuliform silk guts concur with those of their natural counterparts(tubuliform silk fibers).

Post-acute pancreatitis diabetes(PAPD)is the second most common type of diabetes below type 2 diabetes *** to the boom in research on this entity carried out during the last decade,its recognition has ***,much of the medical community still does not recognize it as a medium and long-term complication of acute pancreatitis(AP).Recent prospective cohort studies show that its incidence is about 23%globally and 34.5%in patients with severe *** the overall increase in the incidence of AP this complication will be certainly seen more *** to its high morbidity,mortality and difficult control,early detection and treatment are ***,its risk factors and pathophysiological mechanisms are not clearly *** diagnosis should be made excluding pre-existing diabetes and applying the criteria of the American Diabetes Association after 90 d of resolution of one or more AP *** review will show the evidence published so far on the incidence and prevalence,risk factors,possible pathophysiological mechanisms,clinical outcomes,clinical characteristics and preventive and corrective management of *** important gaps needing to be clarified in forthcoming studies will also be discussed.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of Beauveria bassiana(Bb 1205)on controlling Fusarium oxysporum ***(Fol 17108)in tomato plants in greenhouse *** of Bb 1205 was the most promising among the agronomic variables and expression of the activity of the enzymesβ-1,3-glucanases and *** of Bb 1205 occurred at a concentration of 1×108 conidia·mL−1,which was administered onto the leaves,directly into the soil and via *** with Fol 17108 occurred with 1×106 spores·mL−1,which were added directly to the *** was used for measuring agronomic parameters,namely activity of chitinases andβ-1,3-glucanases in foliage and *** Bb 1205 was added to the soil,the chlorophyll index and aerial part length showed significant *** addition,it was determined that root length,fresh weight of foliage,flower,and fruit count increased 82 days after inoculation(dai).Chitinase activity induced by Bb 1205 in leaves and roots of tomato plants infected with Fol 17108 was observed when injected into the stem at 32 dai(41.8 and 11.6-fold,respectively).Inoculation on the foliage showed a 10-fold increase ofβ-1,3-glucanases in the roots after 82 *** for leaves,a 3.8-fold increase was found when the stem was *** the different in vivo applications,Bb 1205 activated its defenses by expressing the chitinase enzymes andβ-1,3-glucanase,thus reducing the damage caused by Fol 17108,demonstrating increase plant growth thereafter.
