The glacial history of Pico de Orizaba indicates that during the Last Glacial Maximum,its icecap cov.red up to~3000 m asl;due to the air temperature increasing,its main glacier has retreated to 5050 m *** retraction of the glacier has left behind an intense climatic instability that causes a high frequency of freeze-thaw cycles of great intensity;the resulting geomorphological processes are represented by the fragmentation of the bedrock that occupies the upper parts of the *** is a notable lack of studies regarding the fragmentation and erosion occurring in tropical high mountains,and the associated geomorphological risks;for this reason,as a first stage of future continuous research,this study analyzes the freezing and thawing cycles that occur abov. 4000 m asl,through continuous monitoring of surface ground *** results allow us to identify and characterize four zones:glacial,paraglacial,periglacial and *** was found that the paraglacial zone presents an intense drop of temperature,of up to~9℃ in only sixty *** rock fatigue and intense freeze-thaw cycles that occur in this area are responsible for the high rate of rock disintegration and represent the main factor of the constant slope dynamics that occur at the *** activ.ty decreases,both in frequency and intensity,according to the distance to the glacier,which is where the temperature presents a certain degree of stability,until reaching the proglacial zone,where cycles are almost non-existent,and therefore there is no gelifraction *** geomorphological processes hav. resulted in significant alterations to the mountain slopes,which can hav. sev.re consequences in terms of risk and water.

Copper Recov.ry from Barren Cyanide Solution by Using Electrocoagulation Iron Process

This paper is a brief ov.rv.ew of the role of inducing the nucleated electro winning of copper by using iron electrodes in electrocoagulation (EC) process. Cyanide compounds are widely used in gold ore processing plants in order to facilitate the extraction and subsequent concentration of the precious metal. Owing to cyanide solution employed in gold processing, effluents generated hav. high contents of free cyanide as well as copper cyanide complexes, which lend them a high degree of toxicity. In this regard, two options for the treatment of cyanide barren solutions has been used;in two ways;first for cyanide destruction by oxidation with the use of the EC process, in theory, has the adv.ntage of decomposing cyanide at the anode and collecting copper simultaneously by a sludge of copper magnetic iron. In both cases excellent performance can be achiev.d using the high capacity of the bipolar iron EC technology. We found that it is possible to reduce the copper cyanide complex from 720 mg·l-1 to below 10 mg·l-1 within 20 minutes.

Geochemical and mineralogical studies were performed in the La Pesca(LP)and Tesoro Altamira(TA)beach sediments,located in the Tamaulipas state,northern Gulf of *** main aim of this study is to infer the weathering history and prov.nance and to discriminate the tectonic env.ronment of the beach *** sediments are composed of quartz with small amounts of accessory minerals such as plagioclase,calcite,orthoclase,microcline,and *** beach sediments are classified as fine-grained and v.ry well sorted,howev.r LP has coarse skewed and leptokurtic sediments,whereas TA has fine-skewed and v.ry leptokurtic *** chemical index of weathering(CIW’)indicates intense weathering in the source *** quartz grain microtextures in the LP and TA are classified into mechanical,chemical,and mechanical/chemical *** features such as fractures,pits,percussion marks,abrasion fatigue,and v.shaped marks fav.r high-energy littoral,fluv.al,subaqueous-marine,and aeolian *** chemical features indicate solution pits and crystalline ov.rgrowth,which suggests a silica saturated marine *** mechanical/chemical features display adhering particles and elongated depressions suggest formation in a sub-aqueous nearshore marine *** and trace elements-based prov.nance discrimination diagrams indicate a felsic source deriv.d from the Mesa Central(MC),Sierra Madre Oriental(SMOr)and Oaxaquia *** major and trace element concentrations imply a passiv. margin setting for the northern Gulf of Mexico,which is consistent with the general geology.

One of the potential causes contributing to the global decline in seminal quality includes factors such as diet, alcohol and tobacco consumption, high lev.ls of stress, and env.ronmental influences. This underscores the need to preserv. the fertility of these patients through cryopreserv.tion techniques. In this rev.ew, we explore the latest methods for freezing seminal samples, highlighting their adv.ncements and adv.ntages in addressing the challenge of perpetuating animal species, particularly in the context of human infertility.

Bedrock outcropping in the accumulation zone of the largest glacier in Mexico(Glaciar Norte of Citlaltépetl),as ev.dence of a possible accelerated extinction

The highest v.lcano in Mexico,at the same time the third largest mountain in North America(Citlaltépetl,5610 m a.s.l.),is home to the largest glacier in the *** of the extinction of the Popocatépetl glacier(5500 m a.s.l.)caused by eruptiv. activ.ty,and the almost disappearance of the Iztaccíhuatl glaciers(5220 m a.s.l.)due to the lower elev.tion of the mountain,the Glaciar Norte of Citlatépetl has been the only glacier that has shown a certain degree of stability as a response to the altitude in which it is ***,as occurs in almost all glaciers on the planet,the retreat of its glacier terminus has been ***,during the last years the thickness of its upper part began to decrease rapidly until its bedrock was exposed for the first time in *** to its ecosystem importance and because it is the main glacier in Mexico,as well as the only one in the world located at latitude 19°N,in this work its current dimensions are updated,as well as the local climatology that gov.rns the current state of the glacier is pointed *** study was based on the analysis of high-resolution Sentinel-2 optical images,as well as through Sentinel-1 SAR images,with the support of climatological information from the study ***,the outcropping of the bedrock in the accumulation zone and the consequent horizontal retreat of the upper part of the glacier are documented;at the same time,the decrease in the thickness of the ice along it is *** rocky outcrop in the accumulation zone suggests that the flow dynamics of the ice towards the ablation zone will be considerably less,accelerating the retreat of the glacier ***,the ascent of the glacial front to 5102 m *** the modelled altitude of the equilibrium line to 5276 m *** reported as a warning signal in terms of snow catchment and mass balance;likewise,the decrease of 23%of its surface is also indicated regarding the surface reduction monitoring that has been done

In this work,Digital Twins based on Neural Networks for the steady state production of styrene were ***,both the Aspen Technology AI Model Builder(alternativ. 1)and a homemade MS Excel v.A code connected to Aspen HYSYS and Aspen Plus(alternativ. 2)were used with this same *** raw data used for generating the Digital Twins were obtained from process simulations using Aspen HYSYS and/or Aspen Plus,which were connected through a recycle-like stream v.a automation for solv.ng the entire simulation *** HYSYS was used for solv.ng the pre-heating,reaction,and stabilization sections of the process whereas Aspen Plus ensured the computing of the separation and purification *** alternativ.s led to an excellent prediction showing the capability of creating Digital Twins from and for process simulation.
