Background and Objective: Despite the costs generated in the diagnosis of cardiac pathologies by the use of ultrasound, the ECG indices have demonstrated a high performance in the studies of developed countries in the diagnosis of these pathologies, but the data of these in sub-Saharan Africa are limited. The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the Peguero-Lo Presti index in the diagnosis of LvH among Congolese in order to make it a means of LvH diagnosis in an under-equipped environment. Methods: Cross-sectional and analytical study including 413 patients followed and hospitalized at the CIMAK Hospital Center during the period from February 2019 to June 2021. Sociodemographic parameters, history, biology, ultrasound and ECG parameters were studied. The performance of the Peguero-Lo Presti Index was validated by the Youden Index reinforced by the Area under the ROC curve. Results: Of the 413 patients admitted to the study, 69.5% were men versus 30.5% women, i.e. a sex ratio of 2M/1F;the mean age of the patients was 51.1 ± 11.6 years. The frequency of LvH found by echocardiography was 55.9%, it was 50.8% using the Peguero-Lo Presti index, 22% and 10.2% using the Peguero-Lo Presti index, respectively. Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell (p 0.001). The Peguero-Lo Presti curve is higher than the Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell curves. The area under the curve was 0.80 for Peguero-Lo Presti, 0.73 for Sokolow-Lyon and 0.66 for cornell. Conclusion: The newly proposed Peguero-Lo Presti index provides high sensitivity and specificity for the diagnosis of LvH in black Africans as also reported in the European and American population.

Tendon autografts play an important role in upper limb reconstruction and a working knowledge of tendon autograft options is essential for the surgeon. Although palmaris longus is often the first choice, other options like plantaris, extensor Hallucis longus, flexor carpi radialis are readily available. Advantages of autografts include easy availability, satisfactory biomechanical properties and the human body tends to accept its own tendons than from a donor. This review highlights the various options available and their anatomical and surgical considerations in procuring grafts for upper limb reconstructive work.

Mitochondrial biogenesis and function in plants require the expression of over 1000 nuclear genes encoding mitochondrial proteins （ngEMPs）. The expression of these genes is regulated by tissue-specific, developmental, internal, and external stimuli that result in a dynamic organelle involved in both metabolic and a variety of signaling processes. Although the metabolic and biosynthetic machinery of mitochondria is relatively well understood, the factors that regu- late these processes and the various signaling pathways involved are only beginning to be identified at a molecular level. The molecular components of anterograde （nuclear to mitochondrial） and retrograde （mitochondrial to nuclear） signaling pathways that regulate the expression of ngEMPs interact with chloroplast-, growth-, and stress-signaling pathways in the cell at a variety of levels, with common components involved in transmission and execution of these signals. This positions mitochondria as important hubs for signaling in the cell, not only in direct signaling of mitochondrial function per se, but also in sensing and/or integrating a variety of other internal and external signals. This integrates and optimizes growth with energy metabolism and stress responses, which is required in both photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic cells.

Since the initial description, the name Musa dasycarpa Kurz (1867) has been unclear to most botanists. It has usually been synonymized with M. velutina H. Wendl. & Drude (1875). However, although the original diagnosis was very short, 'fruits hairy', it is adequate. Thus, according to vienna Codes, M. dasycarpa Kurz has priority over M. velutina H. Wendl. & Drude. The aim of this study is to settle the true identity and to update the description of M. dasycarpa Kurz. For that purpose the names M. dasycarpa and M. velutina are typified. In addi-tion, critical notes regarding M. assamica Bull. are given; it is neotypified here, and considered as conspecific with M. sanguinea Hook. f.

结构模态参数(频率、阻尼比、振型等)是结构健康监测和动力测试的关键参数,其识别不确定性的准确度量将显著增强结构损伤识别和状态评估的准确性和鲁棒性。着眼于“理解”而非“计算”模态参数识别不确定性,渐近不确定性在不依赖特定数据和算法的条件下给出模态参数估计值变异系数的解析形式。该文介绍单点激振条件下结构的模态参数识别渐近不确定性,基于长数据和小阻尼比假设,给出结构的频率、阻尼比和振型后验变异系数的解析表达式,并结合一系列现场测试进行验证。该文提出的模态参数识别渐近不确定性可用于指导结构激振测试实践,致力于解决振动测试的盲目性和模态识别的被动性。

Left ventricular systolic function assessment in patients with dilated heart failure using cardiovascular magnetic resonance

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has become a reference standard for the measure-ment of cardiac volumes, function, and mass. This study aims to reconstruct three dimen-sional modeling of the left ventricle (Lv) in pa-tients with heart failure (HF) using CMRtools and thereby derive the Lv functional indices. CMR images were acquired in 41 subjects (6 females) with heart failure (HF) and 12 normal controls (4 females). Five comparisons were made (i) nor-mal and dilated heart failure subjects, (ii) male and female normal heart, (iii) male and female dilated heart, (iv) male normal and dilated heart failure and (v) female normal and dilated heart failure. In HF, a significant higher values of EDv (320 刡 79 vs. 126 刡 22 ml, P&amp;amp;lt;0.0001), ESv (255 刡 68 vs. 54 刡 12 ml, P&amp;amp;lt;0.00001) and lower values of EF (20 刡 7 vs. 58 刡 5 %) were found compared that of normal control. There were significant difference on Lv EDv and ESv between sex in both normal and HF subjects.

A taxonomic revision of Musa aurantiaca (Musaceae) in Southeast Asia

Since the initial description, the name Musa aurantiaca Baker (1893) has been unclear to most botanists. The aim of this study is to settle its true identity and to update the description. The plant is distributed in the regions of Upper Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, India, Northern Myanmar and Tibet, China where it occurs commonly but it is not mentioned in Chinese literature at all. In this paper, the authors also review the description and the literature history of M. aurantiaca from 1893 to the present. Musa aurantiaca Baker is typified here.

Pharmaceutical residues have become tightly controlled environmental contaminants in recent years, due to their increasing concentration in environmental components. This is mainly caused by their high level of production and everyday consumption. Therefore there is a need to apply new and sufficiently sensitive analytical methods, which can detect the presence of these contaminants even in very low concentrations. This study is focused on the application of a reliable analytical method for the analysis of 10 selected drug residues, mainly from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs （salicylic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, ctofibric acid, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, caffeine, naproxen, mefenamic acid, ketoprofen, and dicofenac）, in wastewaters and surface waters. This analytical method is based on solid phase extraction, derivatization by N-methyl-N-（trimethylsilyl）trifluoroacetamide （MSTFA） and finally analysis by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography with Time-of-Flight mass spectrometric detection （GC×GC- TOF MS）. Detection limits ranged from 0.18 to 5 ng/L depending on the compound and selected matrix. The method was successfully applied for detection of the presence of selected pharmaceuticals in the Svratka River and in wastewater from the wastewater treatment plant in Brno-Modrice, Czech Republic. The concentration of pharmaceuticals varied from one to several hundreds of ng/L in surface water and from one to several tens of μg/L in wastewater.
