Itopride for gastric volume,gastric emptying and drinking capacity in functional dyspepsia

AIMTo study the effect of itopride on gastric accommodation, gastric emptying and drinking capacity in functional dyspepsia (FD). METHODSRandomized controlled trial was conducted to check the effect of itopride on gastric accommodation, gastric emptying, capacity of tolerating nutrient liquid and symptoms of FD. We recruited a total of 31 patients having FD on the basis of ROME III criteria. After randomization, itopride was received by 15 patients while 16 patients received placebo. Gastric accommodation was determined using Gastric Scintigraphy. 13C labeled octanoic breadth test was performed to assess gastric emptying. Capacity of tolerating nutrient liquid drink was checked using satiety drinking capacity test. The intervention group comprised of 150 mg itopride. Patients in both arms were followed for 4 wk. RESULTSMean age of the recruited participant 33 years (SD = 7.6) and most of the recruited individuals, i.e., 21 (67.7%) were males. We found that there was no effect of itopride on gastric accommodation as measured at different in volumes in the itopride and control group with the empty stomach (P = 0.14), at 20 min (P = 0.38), 30 min (P = 0.30), 40 min (P = 0.43), 50 min (P = 0.50), 60 min (P = 0.81), 90 min (P = 0.25) and 120 min (P = 0.67). Gastric emptying done on a sub sample (n = 11) showed no significant difference (P = 0.58) between itopride and placebo group. There was no significant improvement in the capacity to tolerate liquid in the itopride group as compared to placebo (P = 0.51). Similarly there was no significant improvement of symptoms as assessed through a composite symptom score (P = 0.74). The change in QT interval in itopride group was not significantly different from placebo (0.10). CONCLUSIONOur study found no effect of itopride on gastric accommodation, gastric emptying and maximum tolerated volume in patients with FD.

Traumatic Splenic Injuries in Khartoum, Sudan

Background: Spleen injuries are most commonly associated with blunt abdominal trauma and represent a potentially life-threatening condition. Objectives: To study the pattern of splenic injuries of the patient, management instituted and its outcome at Khartoum. Patients and Methods: This is a prospective, analytic and hospital-based multicenteric study, conducted at the three main Teaching hospitals at Khartoum. The study was carried over a period from April 2012 to February 2013. It includes all patients, diagnosed as traumatic splenic injury. Excluded were patients with history of splenic disease, iatrogenic injury or spontaneous rupture. Results: The study included 47 patients: their mean age was 26.4 years (SD ± 14.5). Most of them 41 (87.2%) were in the first four decades of life. Males were predominant 41 (87.2%), with a male to female ratio of 6.8:1. The majority of our patients had blunt abdominal trauma 39 (83%), of whom, road traffic accident accounted for 51.1% and none reported cases of gunshot. Isolated splenic injury was found in 23 (48.9%), and Haemodynamic stability was seen in 27 (57.4%) on presentation. The initial haemoglobin assessment revealed <9 gram/dl in 53.2%. CT scan was performed to 24 (51.1%), of whom 66 patients were Grade I and II and none of our patients were diagnosed as Grade V. Blood transfusion was required in 42 (89.4%). Operative treatment was adopted in 66% (61.7% total splenectomy and 4.3% splenorrhaphy), while selective non-operative management was successful in 16 (34%) of the patients. Higher intra-operative grade of splenic injury was found to be significantly associated with blunt abdominal trauma, haemodynamic instability and associated intra-abdominal injuries. 44 patients (93.6%) were discharged home in a general good condition. The morbidity and mortality were seen in 8.5% and 6.4% respectively. Conclusion: Splenic injuries usually follow blunt abdominal trauma, particularly after road traffic accidents. It is common du

为了提高永磁同步电机(PMSM)控制系统的性能,精确的永磁磁链(转子磁链)值在控制系统中是必要的。在传统的定子磁链观测和全阶或降阶观测器中,转子磁链作为一个已知的常值给出,而实际应用中,转子磁链的变化范围很大。本文提出了一种基于卡尔曼滤波的转子磁链观测器,通过将转子磁链作为状态变量从而组成了新的状态变量集,构建了三阶卡尔曼滤波器。同时,所提出的观测器在表贴式同步电机的Ld=Lq的情况中也适用。仿真结果证明了所提出的基于卡尔曼滤波的观测器在转子磁链观测中的准确性。本文首先对永磁同步电机的数学模型、矢量控制(转子磁场定向控制,FOC)的基本原理和实现方法进行了介绍。进而在MATLAB/Simulink环境中搭建了永磁同步电机的双闭环矢量控制系统的仿真模型。仿真结果表明,永磁同步电机矢量控制系统具有较好的动态性能和调速性能,验证了“id=0”控制策略的正确性,为永磁同步电机系统的分析、设计和调试提供了理论依据。基于所提出的卡尔曼滤波模型,本文讨论了不同的状态向量选择对转子磁链观测的影响,解决了电机参数偏差引起的观测误差,并将该模型引申到参数估计的应用中。进而,本研究讨论了转子各向异性以及d-q轴电感饱的影响。

Geo-Spatial Assessment of Water Quality in Shigar Valley, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan

The current study attempted to evaluate the water quality in terms of physico-chemical properties, metals, and bacteriological characteristics of the surface water available in Shigar Valley located along Shigar River in sub-district Shigar of district Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Pakistan. A total of 17 water samples were collected during 2020 and analysed to perform multivariate analysis through principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA). Spatial distribution using inverse distance weight (IDW) interpolation was also utilised to determine the water quality in the valley to elucidate public health concerns. The study reveals that physico-chemical characteristics are the most important that affect water quality, followed by metals and bacteriological variables, according to a PCA application based on multivariate analysis. Examinations found that some of the metals including arsenic (As), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), and molybdenum (Mo) and all bacteriological parameters enlisting total coliform count (TCC), total faecal coliform (TFC), and total faecal streptococci (TFS) are not following the WHO guidelines that could be hazardous from the public health viewpoint. The IDW-based spatial distribution indicates that water samples have an intermittent and unusual distribution of observed parameters. Having considerable community settlements, people in the valley have limited options and have no choice except to consume the available water as no alternate source is available. People hardly question the water quality and rarely examine the water potability. The study also demonstrated that combining PCA with IDW would be a powerful method for assessing water quality. It is suggested that the sources of contamination be investigated further in detail to reduce the pollution load of the surface water in the valley, which could aid in the development of sustainable ecotourism.

Oxygenation alleviates waterlogging‑caused damages to cherry rootstocks

Waterlogging has occurred more frequently in recent years due to climate change,so it is a huge threat to crop yield and *** cherry,a fruit tree with a high economic value,is sensitive to waterlogging *** of the most effective methods for enhancing the waterlogging tolerance of sweet cherries is to select waterlogging-tolerant ***,the waterlogging tolerance of different cherry rootstocks,and the underlying mechanism remains ***,we first evaluated the waterlogging resistance of five sweet cherry rootstocks planted in *** data showed that‘Gisela 12’and‘Colt’were the most waterlogging-sensitive and-tolerant among the five tested varieties,*** effectively alleviated the adverse impacts of waterlogging stress on cherry ***,we found that the waterlogging group had lower relative water content,Fv/Fm value,net photosynthetic rate,and higher antioxidant enzyme activities,whereas the oxygenated group performed better in all these ***-Seq analysis revealed that numerous DEGs were involved in energy production,antioxidant metabolism,hormone metabolism pathways,and stress-related transcription *** findings will help provide management strategies to enhance the waterlogging tolerance of cherry rootstocks and thereby achieve higher yield and better quality of cherries.

Climate change-induced heat stress combines two challenges:high day-and nighttime temperatures,and physiological water deficit due to demand-side drought caused by increase in vapor-pressure *** is one of the major factors in low productivity of maize in rainfed stress-prone environments in South Asia,affecting a large population of smallholder farmers who depend on maize for their sustenance and *** International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center(CIMMYT)maize program in Asia,in partnership with public-sector maize research institutes and private-sector seed companies in South Asian countries,is implementing an intensive initiative for developing and deploying heat-tolerant maize that combines high yield potential with resilience to heat and drought *** the integration of novel breeding tools and methods,including genomics-assisted breeding,doubled haploidy,fieldbased precision phenotyping,and trait-based selection,new maize germplasm with increased tolerance to heat stress is being developed for the South Asian *** a decade of concerted effort has resulted in the successful development and release of 20 high-yielding heat-tolerant maize hybrids in CIMMYT genetic *** public–private partnerships,eight hybrids are presently being deployed on over 50,000 ha in South Asian countries,including Bangladesh,Bhutan,India,Nepal,and Pakistan.

Drought is one of the critical conditions for the growth and productivity of many crops including mung bean(Vigna radiata ***).Screening of genotypes for variations is one of the suitable strategies for evaluating crop adaptability and global food *** this context,the study investigated the physiological and biochemical responses of four drought tolerant(BARI Mung-8,BMX-08010-2,BMX-010015,BMX-08009-7),and four drought sensitive(BARI Mung-1,BARI Mung-3,BU Mung-4,BMX-05001)mung bean genotypes under wellwatered(WW)and water deficit(WD)*** WW treatment maintained sufficient soil moisture(22%±0.5%,i.e.,30%deficit of available water)by regularly supplying ***,the WD treatment was maintained throughout the growing period,and water was applied when the wilting symptom *** drought tolerant(DT)genotypes BARI Mung-8,BMX-08010-2,BMX-010015,BMX-08009-7 showed a high level of proline accumulation(2.52–5.99 mg g^(−1) FW),photosynthetic pigment(total chlorophyll 2.96–3.27 mg g^(−1) FW at flowering stage,and 1.62–2.38 mg g^(−1) FW at pod developing stage),plant water relation attributes including relative water content(RWC)(82%–84%),water retention capacity(WRC)(12–14)as well as lower water saturation deficit(WSD)(19%–23%),and water uptake capacity(WUC)(2.58–2.89)under WD condition,which provided consequently higher relative seed *** indicate that the tolerant genotypes gained better physiobiochemical attributes and adaptability in response to drought ***,the genotype BMX-08010-2 showed superiority in terms of those physio-biochemical traits,susceptibility index(SSI)and stress tolerance index(STI)to other *** on the physiological and biochemical responses,the BMX-08010-2 was found to be a suitable genotype for sustaining yield under drought stress,and subsequently,it could be recommended for crop improvement through hybridization *** addition,the identified traits can be used as markers to ide
