In modernβ-solidified TiAl alloys,the decomposition of α_(2) phase is frequently observed during heat treatment or high-temperature deformation of the alloys.In this study,high-temperature deformation and decomposition mechanisms of α_(2) phase in a Ti-45Al-8.5Nb-0.2B-0.2W-0.02Y alloy are investigated.In a sample deformed at 800℃,the precipitation ofβ_(o)(ω_(o))phase is observed within the equiaxed α_(2) phase.The nucleation ofω_(o) particles within theβ_(o) matrix indicates the α_(2)→β_(o)→ω_(o) transformation.In addition,numerous y phase precipitates form within theβ_(o)(ω)areas.The α_(2) lamellae decompose into ultrafine( α_(2)+γ)lamellae and coarsened y lamellae via α_(2)→ α_(2)+γand α_(2)→γtransformation,re-spectively.Moreover,theω_(o) phase nucleates within the ultrafine lamellae via α_(2)→ω_(o) transformation.However,in a sample deformed at 1000℃,the nucleation ofβ_(o) particles is sluggish,which is caused by the efficient release of the internal stress via dynamic recrystallization(DRX).These results indicate that complex phase transformations can be introduced by the decomposition of α_(2) phase in TiAl alloys with a high amount ofβ-stabilizing elements.

The transformations between the phasesα_(2)(Ti_(3)Al)andω_(o)were investigated in a lamellar multiphase titanium aluminide alloy based onγ(TiAl).The paper complements an earlier investigation performed on the same material in which the importance of deformation-induced twin structures for theα_(2)→ω_(o) transformation was demonstrated.The present study shows that the reverse transformationω_(o)→α_(2) can also occur during high-temperature deformation.The transformation is probably triggered by constraint stresses,which exist between the different constituents due to the crystalline mismatch.The combined operation of mechanical twinning of theα_(2) phase and the reversible transformation fully converts theα_(2) lamellae into a mixture ofα_(2) andω_(o).This conversion greatly reduces the mechanical anisotropy existing in formerα_(2) lamellae.Regarding the technical use of the alloy,the stability of the converted structure with respect to further annealing was also examined.The reported processes occur at the nano-meter and sub nano-meter scale,thus,advanced characterization techniques were applied,such as high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM)and atom probe tomography(APT).

BACKGROUND Many studies have addressed safety and effectiveness of non-anaesthesiologist propofol sedation(NAPS)for gastrointestinal(GI)endoscopy Target controlled infusion(TCI)is claimed to provide an optimal sedation regimen by avoiding under-or oversedation.AIM To assess safety and performance of propofol TCI sedation in comparison with nurse-administered bolus-sedation.METHODS Fouty-five patients undergoing endoscopy under TCI propofol sedation were prospectively included from November 2016 to May 2017 and compared to 87 patients retrospectively included that underwent endoscopy with NAPS.Patients were matched for age and endoscopic procedure.We recorded time of sedation and endoscopy,dosage of medication and adverse events.RESULTS There was a significant reduction in dose per time of propofol administered in the TCI group,compared to the NAPS group(8.2±2.7 mg/min vs 9.3±3.4 mg/min;P=0.046).The time needed to provide adequate sedation levels was slightly but significantly lower in the control group(5.3±2.7 min vs 7.7±3.3 min;P<0.001),nonetheless the total endoscopy time was similar in both groups.No differences between TCI and bolus-sedation was observed for mean total-dosage of propofol rate as well as adverse events.CONCLUSION This study indicates that sedation using TCI for GI endoscopy reduces the dose of propofol necessary per minute of endoscopy.This may translate into less adverse events.However,further and randomized trials need to confirm this trend.

In a series of seven papers in Nature and Nature Medicine,the TRACERx study group presents multi-omic analyses of 421 non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients,which have yielded a comprehensive map of intratumor heterogeneity(ITH)and lung cancer evolutionary trajectories at an unprecedented level of detail.1–7 The in-depth molecular data,and their subsequent integrated analyses,hold the potential to not only shine light on lung cancer progression but also influence a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines,research fields,and clinical oncology,thereby enhancing our understanding of cancer in general.

This study analyzed the international key literature on integrated disaster risk management(IDRM),considering it a dynamic sociocultural process subjected to the historical process of social formation,offering a closer look at the concept while exploring conceptual elements and ideas to advance IDRM in both national and international contexts.Methodologically,the study adopted a literature review strategy,following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses(PRISMA)approach,combined with qualitative content analysis.This article examines the history of IDRM,discusses current challenges for implementation,looks at some experiences,and proposes avenues for further research.Some findings point out the lack of an overarching IDRM approach,which is characterized by a rather disperse set of ideas and experiences concerning what IDRM is and how it should be operationalized,thereby revealing the need for a more comprehensive theory and methodologies to further advance it.Other findings highlight that IDRM encompasses different kinds and levels of"integrations"that go from internal(that is,disaster risk reduction and management domains)to external(that is,all societal processes such as sustainable development),including temporal and spatial integrations.Hence,we are talking about a multidimensional integration of disaster risk management.In this regard,the article proposes four dimensions for integration:sectoral,spatial/hierarchical,temporal,and externally with other cross-cutting societal challenges,especially climate change and sustainable development.These dimensions cover 29 ideas for indicators or"proto-indicators"to guide the discussion,exploration,and analysis of IDRM in specific contexts.

Pulmonary valve implant is frequently necessary in children and adults with congenital heart disease.Infective endocarditis represents a rare but life-threatening complication after transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation.There are various treatments for native or prosthetic valve endocarditis.Surgical intervention,combined with intravenous antibiotic treatment,is of paramount importance,in case of concomitant mediastinal infection,in order to ensure the radical debridement of all infected tissue,avoiding any recurrent endocarditis.In this report,we describe a rare case of mediastinitis,associated with an infected endocarditis,occurring 8 months after Melody(Medtronic,Minneapolis,USA)valve implant,successfully treated with the implantation of a homograft to reconstruct the right ventricular outflow tract.

Textile wastewater contains highly toxic,nondegradable,carcinogenic organic pollutants,causing severe damage to the ecological environment.In this work,β-cyclodextrin carbon-sphere-based nanocomposite(CS/SiO_(2)@β-CD)with a core-shell-shell configuration was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and subsequent sedimentation-azeotropic distillation with SiO_(2)as intermediate layer for the removal of crystal violet(CV)and bisphenol A(BPA).The chemical structure and morphology of the CS/SiO_(2)@β-CD were characterized by FT-IR,SEM and TEM.The effects of contact time,pH,temperature and initial concentration of the absorbates on the adsorption property were explored.The CS/SiO_(2)@β-CD showed excellent adsorption capacity on CV and BPA,and the maximum adsorption capacity was 87.873 mg g^(-1)and 165.095 mg g^(-1),respectively.Their adsorption process was in line with the pseudo-second-order and pseudo-first-order kinetic models,respectively.The adsorption thermodynamics could be better fitted by Langmuir model than by Freundlich model.The calculated thermodynamic parameters(-ΔG0,ΔS0 andΔH0)illustrated the adsorption of CV was endothermic,in contrast,the adsorption of BPA was exothermic process.Furthermore,the CS/SiO_(2)@β-CD showed excellent recovery performance,making it a potential adsorbent for the practical treatment of textile wastewater.

The diterpenoid paclitaxel(Taxol)is a chemotherapy medication widely used as a first-line treatment against several types of solid cancers.The supply of paclitaxel from natural sources is limited.However,missing knowledge about the genes involved in several specific metabolic steps of paclitaxel biosynthesis has rendered it difficult to engineer the full pathway.In this study,we used a combination of transcriptomics,cell biology,metabolomics,and pathway reconstitution to identify the complete gene set required for the heterologous production of paclitaxel.We identified the missing steps from the current model of paclitaxel biosynthesis and confirmed the activity of most of the missing enzymes via heterologous expression in Nicotiana benthamiana.Notably,we identified a new C4β-C20 epoxidase that could overcome the first bottleneck of metabolic engineering.We used both previously characterized and newly identified oxomutases/epoxidases,taxane 1β-hydroxylase,taxane 9aα-hydroxylase,taxane 9α-dioxygenase,and phenylalanine-CoA ligase,to successfully biosynthesize the key intermediate baccatin Ill and to convert baccatin Ill into paclitaxel in N.benthamiana.In combination,these approaches establisha metabolic route to taxoidbiosynthesis and provide insights into the unique chemistry that plants use to generate complex bioactive metabolites.
