Green infrastructure： a planning concept for the urban transformation of former coal-mining cities

Green infrastructure is a concept aimed at realizing a strategically planned network of valuable natural and seminatural areas, designed and managed to deliver a wide range of ecosystem services and to protect biodiversity in rural and urban settings. In the general post-mining context of China and Germany, this paper suggests and outlines an approach that combines green infrastructure with specific concepts of post-mining landscapes. While Germany has a long tradition of post-mining restoration, concepts of green infrastructure are still poorly developed. China, on the other hand, has taken its first steps in the restoration of coal regions, and could profit from the new concepts while drawing on Germany＇s experience. The potentials of relevant strategies are investigated here through two case studies from Germany and China. Although there are significant differences in the post-mining development strategies of these two countries, it is clear that the green infrastructure concept can contribute significantly to a growth in ecosystem services. Four advantages of the green infrastructure concept are seen： First, it enables a systematic and highly objective assessment of mining impacts on the ecosystem. Second, the concept assists in the implementation of urban sustainability goals. Third, it is rooted in the local characteristics of landscapes. And finally, the green infrastructure concept seems to be highly compatible with tools of landscape and regional planning.

Differential treatment and early outcome in the interventional endoscopic management of pancreatic pseudocysts in 27 patients

AIM： Pancreatic pseudocysts （PPC） as a complication of pancreatitis are approached only in the case of abdominal pain, infection, bleeding, and compression onto the gastrointestinal tract or biliary tree. METHODS： From 02/01/2002 to 05/31/2004, all con- secutive patients with symptomatic PPC who underwent an interventional endoscopic approach were evaluated in this pilot case-series study： Group （Gr.） Ⅰ-Primary percutaneous （external）, ultrasound-guided drainage. Gr. Ⅱ- Primary EUS-guided cystogastrostomy. Gr. Ⅲ-EUS-guided cystogastrostomy including intracystic necrosectomy. RESULTS：（=＂follow up＂： n = 27）： Gr. Ⅰ （n = 9; 33.3%）： No complaints （n = 3）; change of an external into an internal drainage （n = 4）; complications：（a） bleeding （n = 1） followed by 3 d at ICU, discharge after 40 d; （b） septic shock （n = 1） followed by ICU and several laparotomies for programmed lavage and necrosectomy, death after 74 d. Gr. Ⅱ （n = 13; 48.1%）： No complaints （n = 11）; external drainage （n = 2）; complications/problems out of the 13 cases： 2nd separate pseudocyst （n = 1） with external drainage （since no communication with primary internal drainage）; infection of the residual cyst （n = 1）＋ following external drainage; spontaneous PPC perforation （n = 1）＋ following closure of the opening of the cystogastrostomy using clips and subsequently ICU for 2 d. Gr. Ⅲ （n = 5; 18.5%）： No complaints in all patients, in average two endoscopic procedures required （range, 2-6）. CONCLUSION： Interventional endoscopic management of pancreatic pseudocysts is a reasonable alternative treatment option with low invasiveness compared to surgery and an acceptable outcome with regard to the complication rate （11.1%） and mortality （3.7%）, as shown by these initial study results.

Neurophysiological correlates of interference control and response inhibition processes in children and adolescents engaging in open-and closed-skill sports

Background:Accumulating evidence suggests that sports participation promotes the development of inhibitory control,but the influences of the sports category and inhibition type still remain *** categorization of sports based on the open-skill(externally paced)and closed-skill(self-paced)continuum allows for the integration of the environment as a factor contributing to sports-related benefits for inhibitory ***:Cross-sectional data from different studies were combined(n=184)to examine the association between open-and closed-skill sports and cognitive control processes related to interference control and response ***(aged 9-14 years)filled in 7-day physical activity recall protocols and completed a Stroop Color-Word or a Go/NoGo *** N200,N450,and P300 components of event-related potentials elicited by these tasks were recorded using ***:Partial correlations supported the belief that time spent in open-skill sports was related to higher performance on inhibition ***,path analyses revealed an association between this sports type and a greater negativity in the N200 and N450 amplitudes in both the full sample and group-level *** contrast,no relation was found between sports type and P300 ***:The findings suggest that only the engagement in open-skill sports is associated with more effective conflict monitoring and higher performance on tasks demanding inhibitory control.

Harmful algal blooms(HABs)that are formed by cyanobacteria have become a serious issue worldwide in recent *** can release a type of secondary metabolites called cyanotoxins into aquatic systems which may indirectly or directly provide health risks to the environment and *** provide some of the most powerful natural poisons including potent neurotoxins,hepatotoxins,cytotoxins,and endotoxins that may result in environmental health risks,and long-term morbidity and mortality to animals and *** this research,we used the chemcomputational tool Molinspiration for molecular property predictions,Pred-hERG 4.2 web software for cardiac toxicity prediction,and Pred-Skin 2.0 web software for predicting skin *** are predicting some toxicological aspects of cyanobacteria here using chemcomputational tools with the hypothesis that cyanotoxins are providing a risk to human *** are using the tool Pred-hERG 4.2 to predict hERG channel blocking potential and the Pred-skin tool to predict skin sensitization due to *** potential of anatoxin,ambigol,the microcystin group,and lyngbyatoxin A,lyngbyatoxin B,nodularin-R,and saxitoxin were predicted to cause skin sensitization in the final results(consensus model).Anatoxin-a and lyngbyatoxin were predicted to allow GI absorption and blood–brain barrier *** the 20 predicted cyanotoxins only aeruginosin 103-A,ambigol A,and ambigol were predicted by Pred-hERG 4.2 according to the applicability domain results as potential cardiotoxins with weak or moderate *** shows activity through the GPCR ligand and protease,kinase,and enzyme inhibitor.

A New Fossil Termite (Isoptera,Stolotermitidae,Stolotermes) from the Early Miocene of Otago,New Zealand

The forewing of a termite from Early Miocene lake sediments in Otago, southern New Zealand is figured and described. It exhibits the generic characters of the damp-wood termite Stolotermes Hagen, but differs from forewings of the known species in size and venation pattern and is described as Stolotermes kupe sp. nov. S. kupe represents the first confident record of fossil Stolotermitidae and extends the fossil record of the family back to the Early Miocene. It also is the first direct evidence of fossil Isoptera from New Zealand, though silicified termite faecal pellets, referable to Kalotermes brauni, have been previously described. S. kupe indicates that Stolotermitidae has been present in the Australasian region since at least the Early Miocene.

Tunnel oxide passivated contact solar cells have evolved into one of the most promising silicon solar cell concepts of the past decade,achieving a record efficiency of 25%.We study the transport mechanisms of realistic tunnel oxide structures,as encountered in tunnel oxide passivating contact(TOPCon) solar *** transport is affected by various factors,including oxide layer thickness,hydrogen passivation,and oxygen *** the thickness of the tunnel oxide layer increases,a faster decline of conductivity is obtained computationally than that observed *** tunneling seems not to explain the transport characteristics of tunnel oxide ***,it can be shown that recombination of multiple oxygen defects in a-SiOx can generate atomic silicon nanowires in the tunnel ***,new and energetically favorable transmission channels are generated,which dramatically increase the total current,and could provide an explanation for our experimental *** work proves that hydrogenated silicon oxide(SiOx:H) facilitates high-quality passivation,and features good electrical conductivity,making it a promising hydrogenation material for TOPCon solar *** carefully selecting the experimental conditions for tuning the SiOx:H layer,we anticipate the simultaneous achievement of high open-circuit voltage and low contact resistance.

Exploiting Robust Estimators in Phase Correlation of 3D Point Clouds for 6 DoF Pose Estimation

Point cloud registration is a fundamental task in both remote sensing,photogrammetry,and computer vision,which is to align multiple point clouds to the same coordinate *** in LiDAR odometry,by conducting the transformation between two adjacent scans,the pose of the platform can be *** be specific,the goal is to recover the relative six-degree-of-freedom(6 DoF)pose between the source point cloud and the target point *** this paper,we explore the use of robust estimators in the phase correlation when registering two point clouds,enabling a 6 DoF pose estimation between point clouds in a sub-voxel *** estimator is a rule for calculating an estimate of a given quantity based on observed data.A robust estimator is an estimation rule that is insensitive to nonnormality and can estimate parameters of a given objective function from noisy *** proposed registration method is theoretically insensitive to noise and outliers than correspondence-based *** core steps are involved in the method:transforming point clouds from the spatial domain to the frequency domain,decoupling of rotations and translations,and using robust estimators to estimate phase *** the estimation of transformation parameters lies in the calculation of phase shifts,robust estimators play a vital role in shift estimation *** this paper,we have tested the performance of six different robust estimators and provide comparisons and discussions on the contributions of robust estimators in the 3D phase *** point clouds from two urban scenarios and one indoor scene are *** validate the proposed method can reach performance that predominant rotation and translation errors reaching less than 0.5°and 0.5 m,***,the performance of various tested robust estimators is compared and discussed.
