BACKGROUND Short bowel syndrome(SBS)hospitalizations are often complicated with *** is a significant paucity of data on adult SBS hospitalizations in the United States and across the *** To assess trends and outcomes of SBS hospitalizations complicated by sepsis in the United *** The National Inpatient Sample was utilized to identify all adult SBS hospitalizations between *** study cohort was further divided based on the presence or absence of *** were identified,and hospitalization characteristics and clinical outcomes were *** of mortality for SBS hospitalizations complicated with sepsis were *** Of 247097 SBS hospitalizations,21.7%were complicated by *** SBS hospitalizations had a rising trend of hospitalizations from 20.8%in 2005 to 23.5%in 2014(P trend<0.0001).Compared to non-septic SBS hospitalizations,septic SBS hospitalizations had a higher proportion of males(32.8%vs 29.3%,P<0.0001),patients in the 35-49(45.9%vs 42.5%,P<0.0001)and 50-64(32.1%vs 31.1%,P<0.0001)age groups,and ethnic minorities,i.e.,Blacks(12.4%vs 11.3%,P<0.0001)and Hispanics(6.7%vs 5.5%,P<0.0001).Furthermore,septic SBS hospitalizations had a higher proportion of patients with intestinal transplantation(0.33%vs 0.22%,P<0.0001),inpatient mortality(8.5%vs 1.4%,P<0.0001),and mean length of stay(16.1 d vs 7.7 d,P<0.0001)compared to the non-sepsis cohort.A younger age,female gender,White race,and presence of comorbidities such as anemia and depression were identified to be independent predictors of inpatient mortality for septic SBS *** Septic SBS hospitalizations had a rising trend between 2005-2014 and were associated with higher inpatient mortality compared to non-septic SBS hospitalizations.

In this study,a six-phase induction asymmetric induction motor(SPAIM)was examined,whose performance surpasses that of its three-phase counterpart,with regard to the torque density,torque pulsation,fault tolerance,power rating per inverter lag,and noise ***-encoder-less direct torque control(DTC)for SPAIM with virtual voltage vectors(VVVs)and a modified sliding mode observer(MSMO)are *** SPAIM model was developed using a stationaryα-βframe for *** conventional DTC of the SPAIM drive is a simple extension of DTC for a 3-Φmotor drive that yields higher distortion in the stator *** mitigate the large amount of distortion in the stator current,VVVs were used to significantly reduce the harmonic content in the stator ***,to overcome the large amount of chattering observed in the case of a traditional sliding mode observer,particularly under low-speed operation,the MSMO was employed to reduce chattering even under low-speed *** performance of the proposed observer was verified under all the operating conditions suitable for the propulsion mode of an electric vehicle using Matlab/Simulink,and the results were experimentally validated.

Development and Integration of a Data Acquisition System for SST-1 Phase-1 Plasma Diagnostics

Long pulse （of the order of 1000 s or more） SST-1 tokamak experiments demand a data acquisition system that is capable of acquiring data from various diagnostics channels without losing useful data （and hence physics information） while avoiding unnecessary generation of a large volume data. SST-1 Phase-1 tokamak operation has been envisaged with data acquisition of several essential diagnostics channels. These channels demand data acquisition at a sampling rate ranging from 1 kilo samples per second （KSPS） to 1 mega samples per second （MSPS）. Considering the technical characteristics and requirements of the diagnostics, a data acquisition system based on PXI and CAMAC has been developed for SST-1 plasma diagnostics. Both these data acquisition systems are scalable. Present data acquisition needs involving slow plasma diagnostics are catered by the PXI based data acquisition system. On the other hand, CAMAC data acquisition hardware meets all requirements of the SST-1 Phase-1 fast plasma diagnostics channels. A graphical user interface for both data acquisition systems （PXI and CAMAC） has been developed using LabVIEW application development software. The collected data on the local hard disk are directly streaming to the central server through a dedicated network for post-shot data analysis. This paper describes the development and integration of the data acquisition system for SST-1 Phase-1 plasma diagnostics. The integrated testing of the developed data acquisition system has been performed using SST-1 central control and diagnostics signal conditioning units. In the absence of plasma shots, the integrated testing of the data acquisition system for the initial diagnostics of SST-1 Phase-1 operation has been performed with simulated physical signals. Investigation of structural phase evolution and dielectric response of Co-doped BaTiO_(3)

In the present study,we have synthesized polycrystalline samples of BaTi_(1-x)Co_(x)O_(3)(BTCO)(x=0,0.01,0.03,0.05,0.07 and 0.10)with standard solid state reaction *** obtained samples are characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and Raman spectroscopy for structural *** detailed structural analysis has been performed by Rietveld refinement using Fullprof *** observed an increase in lattice parameters,which results due to substitution of Co2t with large ionic radii(0.9Å)for smaller ionic radii(0.6Å)***,peak at 45.5°shifts to 45°on Co doping,which is due to structure phase transition from tetragonal to *** study infers that the intensity of characteristic peaks decreases and line width increases with Co *** bands linked with the tetragonal structure(305 cm1)decreased due to the tetragonal-to-cubic phase transition with Co *** structural study reveals the expansion of BTCO unit cell and tetragonal-to-cubic phase transformation takes *** results from different characterization techniques are conclusive and show structural evolution with Co *** samples are further characterized by dielectric spectroscopy,dielectric measurement reveals the increase of dielectric constant and transition T_(c)-125° is observed for Barium titanate(BaTiO3),whereas transition disappears with Co *** temperature and frequency-dependent tangent loss is also studied.

Separation of Alteration Zones on ASTER Data and Integration with Drainage Geochemical Maps in Soltanieh, Northern Iran

The Soltanieh area is a part of Tarom volcano-plutonic zone that is located in north-west of Zanjan province in northwest of Iran. Advanced Space borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) image processing have been used for mapping hydrothermal alteration zones in studied area. To separate the alternation zones;False Color Composite (FCC), Least Square Fit (LS-Fit), Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF) and Spectral Angel Mapper (SAM) techniques have been applied on ASTER data and iron oxide, argillic, phyllic and propylitic zones have been separated. At last, the final alteration map is integrated with drainage geochemical maps of Cu, Zn and Pb minerals for introducing the probable high potential zones.

Alkaline Earth (Ca) and Transition Metal (Ni) Doping on The Transport Properties Of Y1-Xcaxba2(Cu1-Yniy)3O7-δSuperconductors

We report the results of dc resistivity, ac susceptibility, and thermopower study of partial substitution at Y (A site by Ca) and at Cu (B site by Ni) polycrystalline superconductors. The iodometric analysis reveals that the oxygen deficiency,δ,for YBa2Cu3O7-δ(S-I),Y0.9Ca0.1 Ba2Cu3O7-δ(S-II),Y0.8Ca0.2Ba2Cu3O7-δ(S-III) and Y0.9Ca0.1 Ba2(Cu0.99Ni0.01)3O7-δ(S-IV) samples are 0.16, 0.30, 0.39 and 0.29 respectively. The x-ray powder diffraction pattern indicates that all samples are in orthorhombic phase. The dc resistivity, ac susceptiblity and the thermopower measurements shows that the divalent Calcium doping at the trivalent Y site and transition metal Ni doping at Cu site causes a suppression of the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) from 89 to 81 K. The ac susceptibility confirms the ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic phases at a defined Tc. The room temperature S value increases for Ca substituted YBa2Cu3O7-δwhile to that it decreases for Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2(Cu0.99Ni0.01)3O6.71. The above feature is an indicative of enhanced number of mobile holes for the Ca doped YBa2Cu3O7-δ, while to that the charge carrier density is reduced in simultaneous A (Ca) and B (Ni) site doped sample.

Diagnostic Utility of Indigenous Technique of Pleuroscopy in Undiagnosed Cases of Exudative Pleural Effusions

Background and Aims： Since our rural institution has liamted resources we always choose econoamcal options. Recently, indigenous technique of pleuroscopy is gaining popularity due to various advantages. We developed indigenous technique of medical thoracoscopy has been developed and done by using set of patented conduits and fiberoptic bronchoscope （FOB）.Therefore, we have used this technique for undiagnosed pleural effusions. Methods： An observational study was conducted in 79 undiagnosed cases of exudative pleural effusion from June 2016 to Jmmary 2017. Indigenous technique consists of use of fiber optic bronchoscope through various metallic conduits to be used in specified order for medical thoracoscopy. Procedure is done under conscious sedation and conduits are passed one after another in a specified order, through the chest stoma. The visualization of pleural cavity and various procedures were done with FOB （fiberoptic bronchoscope）. Results： Out of the 79 cases, the appearance of pleura showed, inflamed/reddened pleura in 16 （20.2%） cases, thin transparent adhesions in 18 （22.7%）, thin transparent loculations in 16 （20.2%） cases, thick loculations in 6 （7.6%） cases, hard pleural surface in 5 （6.3%）, large nodule/masses in 6 （7.6%）, small amlliary seedlings or sago grain appeoxmlce in 6 （7.6%）, scattered masses or nodules in 5 （6.3%） and, broncho-pleural fistula was observed in 1 （1.2%） case. Histopathological analysis showed chronic inflammation in 34.1% （27）, tubercular lesions in 24.05% （19） of patients. Primary aspergillosis and mesothelioma each has 1 case, and the rest 29.11% （23） were pleural metastasis. Thus, diagnostic yield of pleuroscopy pleural biopsy was 89.9% （71）. Conclusion： Indigenous technique appears to be an efficient and relatively safe procedure with good diagnostic yield in undiagnosed pleural effusions.
