Differential quadrature phase shift keying （DQPsK） modulation is attractive in high-speed optical communications because of its resistance to fiber non-linearities and more efficient use of fiber bandwidth compared to conventional intensity modulation schemes. Because of its wavelength conversion ability and phase preservation, semiconductor optical amplifier （sOA） four- wave mixing （FWM） has attracted much attention. We experimentally study wavelength conversion of 40 Gbit/s （20 Gbaud） non-return-to-zero （NRZ）-DQPsK data using FWM in a quantum dash sOA with 20 dB gain and 5 dBm output saturation power. Q factor improvement and eye diagram reshaping is shown for up to 3 nm pump-probe detuning and is superior to that reported for a higher gain bulk sOA.

Objective: To determine Eustachian tube function in tubotympanic type of chronic ear disease and to correlate Eustachian tube function with pathological change in middle ear mucosa. Materials and Methods: A prospective study of the cases of tubotympanic type of chronic suppurative otitis media was undertaken. Patients were subjected to clinical examination followed by audiometry tests and impedence audiometry to determine eustachian tube functions. Patients were then subjected to myringoplasty and eustachian tube function were then reassessed post operatively. Results: In our study, out of 30 cases who underwent myringoplasty, 21 cases had successful surgical outcome and 9 cases were failed. Out of 24 cases of good Eustachian tube function, 21 cases had successful surgical outcome intends of taking up graft, absence of otorrhea and improvement in hearing. In remaining 3 cases, there was recurrence of otorrhea with central perforation. All the 6 cases with poor Eustachian tube function had surgical failure. Conclusion: The prognosis of the middle ear reconstructive surgery has direct correlation with Eustachian tube functions and Eustachian tube function tests should be a routine investigation in all the cases planned for surgical reconstruction of the middle ear.

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined with bare or Zn-coated DP590 steel by ultrasonic spot welding or linear friction stir welding was quantitatively studied by pre-defining anode and cathode in the lap joint samples. Corrosion volume and depth from Mg anode surfaces exposed to 0.1 M sodium chloride solution was analyzed as functions of cathode surface type and welding method. Characterization of as-welded joints was performed to identify any microstructural feature of the bonding zone that could impact galvanic corrosion *** modeling with modified user subroutine was conducted to simulate the progression of Mg corrosion in the same joint and electrode configurations used for the corrosion experiments. The experimental results indicated that Zn-coated cathode surface can reduce Mg galvanic corrosion significantly as galvanic polarization and cathodic current on Zn-coated surface remained relatively low for Mg in the weld *** modeling described the growth of Mg galvanic corrosion in a reasonable manner but showed limitation by underestimating the corrosion volume as it did not capture self-corrosion.

Objective:Type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM)is a disease of metabolic *** study was undertaken to know the relation between fasting lipid profile and paraoxonase 1(PON1)activity in type 2 diabetic patients with and without ***:The study group consisted of a total of 155 subjects which included non-diabetic healthy control subjects(n = 50)and diabetic patients with complications(group I,n = 66)and without complications(group II,n=39).PON1 activity was measured all the subjects based on spectrophotometric methods,and fasting lipid profile and fasting plasma glucose(FPG)levels were determined in clinical chemistry analyzer Hitachi ***:FPG(Psignificantly increased,and HDL-C(Psignificantly decreased in group I patients when compared to normal *** group II patients FPG(Psignificantly increased and HDL-C(Ps significantly decreased when compared to normal *** Pearson correlation,HDL-C was positively correlated with PON1 in group I patients(r=0.317,Psion:type 2 DM patients with complications have significantly decreased HDL-C levels and PON1 activity possibly indicating its decreased biochemical role in these patients.

The origin for one of the fundamental laws of electromagnetism, namely Faraday’s law is explained for the first time on the basis of the presence of strings in the form of a compact liquid. The rate of change of the magnetic field produces a pressure gradient in the medium giving rise to the fluid flow. According to fluid dynamics, the stress and the gradient of strain are originated in the space which creates vibrations in the system and is related with the electric field. The details of the mechanism which produces a circular motion of the electric field, XE, are also addressed.

Equations related with wave propagation are reexamined as in certain circumstances law of conservation of energy is not fulfilled even though it is cautiously clarified with the help of Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle. Recently, attempt has also been made to understand certain discrepancies in optical phenomena like diffraction or interference. The purpose of the present investigation, therefore, is to overcome some discrepancies by introducing constants of integration in Maxwell’s Equation. It turns out that the presence of vibrating strings (or store energy) in the medium becomes essential to understand several details of the wave propagation.

Objectives:The present study aims to assess the prevalence and predictors of smartphone addiction and insomnia among nurses working in the outpatient department(OPD)after the second wave of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)*** and Methods:A descriptive,cross-sectional study was carried out among 117 OPD nurses between October and December 2021 using a purposive sampling *** self-reported standardized scales,the smartphone Addiction scale-shortVersion and Insomnia severity Index were ***–smirnov test,Mann–Whitney U,and Kruskal–Wallis Htest were ***’s correlation and scatter plot were used to determine the relationship between the study variables.A stepwise multiple linear regression analysis was also ***:The majority of participants had slight smartphone addiction(78.6%)and suffered from sub-threshold to severe forms of insomnia(73.5%).A significant mild positive correlation was found between smartphone addiction and insomnia(r=0.195,Pstepwise multivariate logistic regression analysis predicted factors such as female gender and exposure to smartphones for more than 5 years influencing smartphone addiction.A strong influence of exposure to the smartphone for more than 5 years was found on insomnia ***:smartphone addiction and insomnia were identified problems among nurses working in the OPD after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic,requiring an urgent need to identify and manage various factors responsible for smartphone addiction and insomnia such as female gender and years of exposure to smartphones.

BACKGROUND: Penetrating injuries of the perineum are rare but very dangerous. since the genitourinary and colorectal organs may be injured, how to evaluate surgical management of the injury is very ***: The present report presents a case of penetrating injury of the perineum by a wooden stick when the patient fell on the upright wooden stick from a tree. The three feet long stick entered the perineal region just left lateral to the anal opening. Upon reaching the thoracic cavity, it broke and only a foot stick was left in the subcutaneous plane. These injuries are potentially serious with risk of damage to multiple organs. Exploratory laprotomy was done, and bladder injury was repaired. The entry wound and the track of stick was thoroughly washed and allowed for secondary intention ***: The post operative period was uneventful and the patient recovered ***: Meticulous evaluation and surgical management of perineal injuries are the key to prevent devastating complications.

This paper presents a hydro-geophysical investigation into the landfill leachate distribution and subsurface geology at a closed site in southwestern Ontario, Canada, using geophysical mapping and hydrological modeling approaches. Conductivity mapping was first conducted over the study site using a frequency-domain EM terrain conductivity meter, revealing an anomalous high-con- ductivity zone of about 200 m (s-N) × 80 m (W-E) at the western half of the site. The DC resistivity survey was then carried out at this anomalous zone with eight s-N profiles and three W-E profiles measuring 200m in length using a Wenner-α configuration. Our resistivity survey results indicate that the landfill leachate travels mainly south-east wards over the upper aquifer, with a minor vertical component into the upper weathered portion of the silt/sand aquitard at some locations. No contamination seems to exist in the lower sand aquifer. The geophysical results were later used to develop two conceptualized models for hydrological modeling. Our numerical results predict the leachate distribution at the study site in the future, confirming that the contaminant will occupy the entire upper aquifer and the most of the aquitard in a time of 1000 years, and that the barrier of the aquitard will protect the lower sand aquifer from the leachate pollution. These findings are critical in evaluating the current leachate conditions and the existing compliance monitoring plan for potential implementation at this study site and other sites in elsewhere.
