Rice, a staple cereal crop in many parts of the world, has been confronted with multiple environmental stresses including high temperature, negatively impacts the booting as well as anthesis growth stages. The situation is further complicated by the changing climatic conditions, resulting in gradual escalation of temperature as well as changing the rainfall pattern and frequency, thus raising a concern of food security worldwide. The situation can be combat by developing rice varieties with excellent genetics with improved morpho-physiological, biochemical, and molecular mechanisms, together can minimize the adverse effects of heat stress. Here, several strategies(encompassing genetic and genomic, and mechanisms involved) for mitigating the impact of high temperature on rice have been discussed. Finally, the utilization of genomic knowledge in augmenting the conventional breeding approaches have been comprehensively elaborated to develop heat tolerant germplasm.

In this study,NIMROD simulations are performed to investigate the effects of massive helium gas injection level on the induced disruption on EAST *** is demonstrated in simulations that two different scenarios of plasma cooling(complete cooling and partial cooling)take place for different amounts of injected *** the impurity injection above a critical level,a single MHD activity is able to induce a complete core temperature *** impurity injection below the critical level,a series of multiple minor disruptions occur before the complete thermal quench.

High power supercontinuum generation by dual-color femtosecond laser pulses in fused silica

High power supercontinuum(SC) is generated by focusing 800 nm and 400 nm femtosecond laser pulses in fused silica with a microlens array. It is found that the spectrum of the SC is getting broader compared with the case of a single laser pulse, and the spectral energy density between the two fundamental laser wavelengths is getting significantly higher by optimizing the phase matching angle of the BBO. It exceeds μJ/nm over 490 nm range which is from 380 nm to 870 nm,overcoming the disadvantage of relative lower power in the ranges far from the fundamental wavelength.

Bio-Adaption between magnesium Alloy Stent and the Blood Vessel:A Review

Biodegradable magnesium （Mg） alloy stents are the most promising next generation of bio-absorbable stents. In this article, we summarized the progresses on the in vitro studies, animal testing and clinical trials of biodegradable Mg alloy stents in the past decades. These exciting findings led us to propose the importance of the concept ＂bio-adaption＂ between the Mg alloy stent and the local tissue microenvironment after implantation. The healing responses of stented blood vessel can be generally described in three overlapping phases： inflammation, granulation and remodeling. The ideal bio-adaption of the Mg alloy stent, once implanted into the blood vessel, needs to be a reasonable function of the time and the space/dimension. First, a very slow degeneration of mechanical support is expected in the initial four months in order to provide sufficient mechanical support to the injured vessels. Although it is still arguable whether full mechanical support in stented lesions is mandatory during the first four months after implantation, it would certainly be a safety design parameter and a benchmark for regulatory evaluations based on the fact that there is insufficient human in vivo data available, especially the vessel wall mechanical properties during the healing/remodeling phase. Second, once the Mg alloy stent being degraded, the void space will be filled by the regenerated blood vessel tissues. The degradation of the Mg alloy stent should be 100% completed with no residues, and the degradation products （e.g., ions and hydrogen） will be helpful for the tissue reconstruction of the blood vessel. Toward this target, some future research perspectives are also discussed.

Principal component analysis(PCA)is a widely used method for multivariate data analysis that projects the original high-dimensional data onto a low-dimensional subspace with maximum ***,in practice,we would be more likely to obtain a few compressed sensing(CS)measurements than the complete high-dimensional data due to the high cost of data acquisition and *** this paper,we propose a novel Bayesian algorithm for learning the solutions of PCA for the original data just from these CS *** this end,we utilize a generative latent variable model incorporated with a structure prior to model both sparsity of the original data and effective dimensionality of the latent *** proposed algorithm enjoys two important advantages:1)The effective dimensionality of the latent space can be determined automatically with no need to be pre-specified;2)The sparsity modeling makes us unnecessary to employ multiple measurement matrices to maintain the original data space but a single one,thus being storage *** results on synthetic and real-world datasets show that the proposed algorithm can accurately learn the solutions of PCA for the original data,which can in turn be applied in reconstruction task with favorable results.

Formation of a new intermediate phase and its evolution toward θ’ during aging of pre-deformed Al-Cu alloys

The frequent occurrence of hitherto unknown phase Pre-θ′-2 and unusual 1.5 cθ′thick θ′precipitate was observed by atomic-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy in the well-studied Al-Cu alloys. This phenomenon is associated with heterogeneous precipitate nucleation and growth on preexisting dislocations introduced by slight deformation prior to aging. In this study, the precise structure details of Pre-θ′-2 was determined by atomic scale imaging, image simulation based on image forming theories and first principle calculations. Pre-θ′-2 has a well-defined ordered structure sandwiched between two 2 aAl(~1.5 cθ′) spaced Cu layers on {200}Alplanes. The strong structural similarities between Pre-θ′-2 and 1.5 cθ′ thick θ′ in terms of interfacial structure and thickness, coupled with energetic calculations and preliminary in-situ observations, lead us to propose a new precipitation path toward key strengthening phase θ′

Hybrid Semantic Concept Temporal Pooling for Large-Scale Video Event Analysis

To solve the task of detecting and recounting events in videos with limited training examples, we propose a novel two-stage hybrid concept temporal pooling approach that is aware of potential concept drift in the video stream. We initially partition videos into temporal pyramids consisting of keyframes. Semantic concepts in keyframes is detected, which enables us to derive aggregated detection scores for each temporal pyramid using average-pooling and ultimately for the entire video via max-pooling. Owing to this refined hybrid pooling, our method yields more discriminative semantic representations with respect to the event query. We also develop an effective filtering strategy to cope with noisy concept detectors to robustify the textual description generation in recounting. Experiments on the large scale TRECVID MEDTest dataset demonstrate our method improves the accuracies over state-of-the-art methods, both for event detection and recounting.

Recommend trustworthy services using interval numbers of four parameters via cloud model for potential users

How to discover the trustworthy services is a challenge for potential users because of the deficiency of us- age experiences and the information overload of QoE （qual- ity of experience） evaluations from consumers. Aiming to the limitations of traditional interval numbers in measuring the trustworthiness of service, this paper proposed a novel ser- vice recommendation approach using the interval numbers of four parameters （INF） for potential users. In this approach, a trustworthiness cloud model was established to identify the eigenvalue of INF via backward cloud generator, and a new formula of INF possibility degree based on geometrical anal- ysis was presented to ensure the high calculation precision. In order to select the highly valuable QoE evaluations, the similarity of client-side feature between potential user and consumers was calculated, and the multi-attributes trustwor- thiness values were aggregated into INF by the fuzzy ana- lytic hierarchy process method. On the basis of ranking INF, the sort values of trustworthiness of candidate services were obtained, and the trustworthy services were chosen to recommend to potential user. The experiments based on a real-world dataset showed that it can improve the recommendation accuracy of trustworthy services compared to other approaches, which contributes to solving cold start and information overload problem in service recommendation.
