Physical activity,fitness and all-cause mortality:An 18-year follow-up among old people

Background：Little is known about change in physical activity（PA） and its relationship to all-cause mortality among old *** is even less information about the association between PA,fitness and all-cause mortality among people aged 80 years and *** objective is to investigate persistence and change in PA over 5 years as a predictor of all-cause mortality,and fitnes as a mediator of this association,among people aged 80 and 85 years at the beginning of an 18-year mortality follow-up ***：Using Evergreen Project data（started in 1989）,4 study groups were formed according to self-reported changes in PA level,over a 5-year period（starting in 1989–1990 and ending in 1994–1995）：remained active（RA,control group）,changed to inactive（CI）,remained inactive（RI）,and changed to active（CA）.mortality was followed up over the 18-year period（1994–2012）.Cox models with different covariates such as age,sex,use of alcohol,smoking,chronic diseases,and a 10 m walking test were used to analyze the association between change in PA level and ***：Compared to RA,those who decreased their PA level（CI） between baseline and follow-up had higher all-cause mortality（hazard ratio（HR=2.09;95%CI：1.63–2.69） when adjusted for age,gender,and chronic *** showed the highest all-cause mortality（HR = 2.16;95%CI：1.59–2.93）.In CA,when compared against RA,the risk of all-cause mortality was not statistically significan（HR=1.51;95%CI：0.95–2.38）.In comparison with RA,when walking speed over 10 m was added as a covariate,all-cause mortality risk was almost statistically significan only in CI（HR=1.37;95%CI：1.00–1.87）.Conclusion：Persistence and change in PA level was associated with *** association was largely explained by fitnes *** controlled studies are needed to test whether maintaining or increasing PA level could lengthen the life of old people.

Regional economic assessment of a novel place-based model for sustainable food systems

Several actions from both the environmental and human viewpoints have already been made to meet the sustainability goals targeted at food ***,new place-based ideas to improve sustainability are *** symbiosis(AES),a novel food system model,is an example of a suggested system-level change to attain sustainability targets;it is a symbiosis of food production and processing using renewable energy that uses its own *** has already been found advantageous from the ecological and biophysical viewpoints,but a regional economic evaluation of the model is still ***,the aim of our paper is to assess the regional economic impact of a possible systemic change in the food system using the network of agroecological symbiosis(NAES)as an *** applied scenarios representing different ways of moving towards envisioned NAES models in mäntsälä,Finland,and a computable general equilibrium model to evaluate the regional economic *** to our results,both regional economy and employment would increase,and the regional production base would diversify with NAES implementation applied to the region,but the extent of the benefits varies between *** scenario that includes change in both public and private food demand,production of bioenergy and utilization of by-products would cause the largest ***,realizing NAES requires investments that may influence the actual implementation of such ***,a change towards NAES can promote an economically and spatially just transition to sustainability,as NAES seems to be economically most beneficial for rural areas.

Bending reliability of screen-printed vias for a flexible energy module

The future of printed electronics involves advancements not only related to full system integration,but also lean process manufacturing.A critical aspect of this progress is developed in this study,which evaluates a highly flexible screen printed through-hole-via using silver microparticle inks,for applications in energy harvesting and storage *** printed vias’fabrication and durability are evaluated by means of a double sided screen-printing method and repetitive(cyclic)bending ***,through 125-µm-thick PET foil,were laser cut(nominally 50,100,150,and 200µm diameters)then filled,and simultaneously connected to adjacent vias by screen *** investigate the use of the printed via in a monolithic energy module,the vias were used for the fabrication of a flexible printed supercapacitor containing aqueous electrolyte and carbon *** results indicate that the lower viscosity silver ink(DuPont 5064H)fills the via less effectively than the higher viscosity ink(Asahi LS411AW),and as the via size increases(≥150µm diameter)via walls are coated rather than ***,the more viscous ink fills the via thoroughly and exhibited a 100%yield(1010 vias;100µm nominal via diameter)with the two-step direct screen-printing *** 10-mm radius bending test showed no signs of via specific breakdown after 30,000 *** results indicate that this via filling process is likely roll-to-roll compatible to enable multi-layered printed electronic devices.
