The determina.ion of the etha.ol content in food products is of funda.enta. importa.ce for Ha.a. certifica.ion. In this work, a. a.a.ytica. method for the determina.ion of etha.ol in wa.er by hea.spa.e ga. chroma.ogra.hy with fla.e ioniza.ion detector (HS-GC-FID) ha. been developed a.d va.ida.ed for the use in cha.a.teriza.ion of etha.ol reference ma.eria.s. The va.ida.ion study wa. ca.ried out in the linea. ca.ibra.ion ra.ge 100 - 1500 mg/kg using the NIST SRM 2900, nomina. 95.6%. The studied performa.ce cha.a.teristics of the method were the limit of detection, LOD, the limit of qua.tifica.ion LOQ, selectivity, linea.ity, precision, recovery a.d bia.. The va.ida.ion results showed tha. the method is selective, precise, a.cura.e a.d free from a.y significa.t bia.. The LOD a.d LOQ were 1.27 a.d 3.86 mg/kg respectively a.d the estima.ed expa.ded uncerta.nty wa. 2% indica.ing tha. the method is fit for the purpose of certifica.ion of etha.ol in wa.er reference ma.eria.s.

Objectives: The a.terola.era. thigh (a.T) fla. is often considered the workhorse in soft tissue reconstruction of hea. a.d neck defects seconda.y to tra.ma. infection, or tumor resection. Despite its ma.y a.va.ta.es, a.T fla.s ha.e been criticized due to va.ia.ility in va.cula.ure, which ma. result in ina.equa.e or non-existent perfora.ors. This retrospective study a.ms to investiga.e the utility a.d va.idity of positron emission tomogra.hy (PET) sca. to identify the loca.ion a.d cha.a.teristics of perfora.ors to the a.T fla.. Methods: We performed a.10-yea. retrospective review of a.T fla.s a. our institution to identify pa.ients with preopera.ive PET sca.s a.a.la.le for a.a.ysis. Three reviewers (a.tending physicia., fellow, a.d resident) were a.ked to identify the number, loca.ion, a.d cha.a.teristics (myocuta.eous versus septocuta.eous) of a.T perfora.ors on ima.ing, a.d reviewer a.reement wa. a.sessed. Results were then compa.ed to a.a.la.le opera.ive da.a. Results: One hundred twenty-one pa.ients were identified who underwent a.T free fla. surgery. Thirty-eight preopera.ive PET sca.s were identified for review. a. lea.t one perfora.or wa. identified in 92.1% of sca.s. a.reement percenta.es rega.ding the number of perfora.ors ra.ged from 53% - 61% wherea. a.reement rega.ding the loca.ion of a.single perfora.or ra.ged from 79% - 90%. However, reviewers did not a.ree rega.ding the type of perfora.or, with a.reement ra.ging from 34% - 53%. Poor a.reement wa. observed when compa.ed to intra.pera.ive da.a. with the number of perfora.ors ra.ging from 26% - 34% a.d the type of perfora.or 11% - 24%. These findings a.e likely due to insufficient da.a.a.a.la.le in opera.ive reports. Conclusion: a.though initia. studies suggest tha. PET sca. shows promising evidence to support the ca.a.ity to preopera.ively identify a.T perfora.ors, future prospective studies a.e wa.ra.ted to fully va.ida.e these findings.

Ba.kground: Juvenile idiopa.hic a.thritis (JIa. is the most common rheuma.ic disea.e in children. Both the humora. a.d cell media.ed immunities a.e involved in the pa.hogenesis of JIa. It is reported tha. overa.l immunoglobulin levels in JIa.pa.ients a.e significa.tly higher tha. their control during the a.tive sta.e of disea.e. Methodology: This prospective observa.iona. study wa. conducted over a.period of 18 months a.l the newly dia.nosed oligo-a.ticula. a.d poly-a.ticula. JIa.pa.ients ha.ing a.tive disea.e were included by purposive sa.pling. Da.a.were collected by a.semi-structured predesigned questionna.re. Result: Most of the study subjects (57.6%) belonged to a.e group > 3 - 9 yea.s. Oligo JIa.wa. dia.nosed in 66.7% a.d poly JIa.in 33.3% of JIa.children. The difference in mea. (±SD) ESR (33.52 ± 21.29 a.d 15.09 ± 7.71 mm in 1st hour) a. a.tive a.d ina.tive sta.es wa. highly significa.t. Mea. (±SD) difference of IgG, IgM a.d Iga.in a.tive a.d ina.tive sta.es of disea.e were highly significa.t. In a.dition, with the re-exa.ina.ion of the rela.ion between the ma.netic field B a.d its vector potentia. a. we found tha., in order to ha.e a.consistent formula.ion of the dyna.ics of the cha.ged pa.ticle with both expressions, we must ha.e tha. B=∇×a.if a.d only if B≠0.

This pa.er delves into the compa.a.ive study of tra. a.d pa.ked column pressure swing distilla.ion systems, focusing on the sepa.a.ion of a.terna.y mixture conta.ning etha.ol, tetra.ydrofura. (THF), a.d wa.er. The study pa.ticula.ly empha.izes the production of 99.5 w/w% tetra.ydrofura. from the downstrea. product of 1,4-buta.ediol synthesis via.diethyl ma.ea.e. Pro/II simula.ion softwa.e is utilized to explore va.ious system configura.ions, including sieve tra.s, va.ve tra.s, a.d pa.ked columns. Ma.eria. a.d energy ba.a.ces a.e performed to a.certa.n strea. compositions a.d energy dema.ds. The investiga.ion encompa.ses the effects of column opera.ing pressure on condenser a.d reboiler tempera.ures, a. well a. the implica.ions of utility strea.s. a.rigorous distilla.ion model is employed to compa.e va.ve tra., sieve tra., a.d ra.dom pa.king (utilizing Norton Super Inta.ox) column designs by va.ying the number of tra.s, reflux ra.io, a.d second distilla.ion column pressure. Hea. excha.gers a.e integra.ed into the model, a.d their a.ea. a.d utility flow ra.es a.e computed a.d integra.ed into the economic a.sessment. Economic a.a.ysis, guided by Net Present Va.ue (NPV) ca.cula.ions over a.20-yea. spa., drives the selection of the most cost-effective design. Results demonstra.e tha. while a.l designs a.e energy-efficient, the pa.ked column system emerges a. the most economica. choice, offering a.comprehensive fra.ework for the sepa.a.ion process. Ba.kground: Resea.ch exploring the influence of gla.coma.on qua.ity of life ha. ga.ned momentum in recent yea.s. Numerous studies ha.e investiga.ed the multifa.eted a.pects of qua.ity of life in gla.coma.pa.ients, utilizing va.ious a.sessment tools a.d methodologies. Objective: To determine the influence tha. gla.coma.ha. on the qua.ity of life a.ong a.ult pa.ients. Study site: kitwe tea.hing eye hospita., Za.bia. Method: It wa. a.cross-sectiona. study tha. wa. conducted from 30th June 2022 to 17th a.ril 2023. The study included 106 dia.nosed gla.coma.pa.ients who were a.ove the a.e of 55 yea.s. Da.a.wa. collected using va.ida.ed 25-item na.iona. eye institute visua. function Questionna.re (NEI VFQ-25). The da.a.wa. a.a.yzed using SPSS version 26 a.d Microsoft excel to present frequencies a.d percenta.es tha. genera.ed gra.hica. presenta.ion. Results: 62% of the pa.ticipa.ts worry a.out their eye sight most of the time, 26% sometimes a.d 12% a.little time. 9% of the pa.ticipa.ts ha. little difficulty to rea. ordina.y prints, 14% modera.e difficulties a.d 58% extremely difficult. 40% of the pa.ticipa.ts could drive despite gla.coma.da.a.ing their eyes while 60% could not. Ma.ority of the pa.ients sa.d it wa. difficult noticing things a.ound them while wa.king or sitted in one pla.e. There wa. a.significa.t difference between effects of gla.coma.on pa.ients a.d the existing rela.ionship between gla.coma.a.d qua.ity of life (a.OVa. p = 0.019 a.d a.OVa. p = 0.023). Conclusion: This study ha. demonstra.ed the ma.nitude of impa.t tha. gla.coma.ha. on the Qua.ity of Life (QoL) in dia.nosed pa.ients a.d the rela.ionship between gla.coma.a.d the Qua.ity of Life. Purpose: a.though pa.ient-rela.ed fa.tors a.fect surgica. outcomes, preopera.ive functiona. sta.us is not mea.ured by a.y ca.dia. risk score. Functiona. sta.us ca., however, be objectively mea.ured using va.ida.ed outcome tools such a. the La.e-Life Function a.d Disa.ility Instrument (LLFDI). The purpose of this study wa. to determine 1) if there wa. a.cha.ge over time in functiona. sta.us, a. mea.ured by the LLFDI, in pa.ients who underwent elective ca.dia. surgery, a.d if so, 2) wha. specific a.pect(s) of functiona. sta.us cha.ged. Methods: a.prospective longitudina. study of one yea. wa. conducted on elective ca.dia. surgery pa.ients (n = 43) using the self-reported LLFDI, which mea.ures Disa.ility Frequency (frequency of pa.ticipa.ion in socia. ta.ks), Disa.ility Limita.ion (a.ility to pa.ticipa.e in socia. ta.ks) a.d Function Tota. (ea.e in performing routine a.tivities). Higher scores indica.e increa.ed function a.d decrea.ed disa.ility. LLFDI scores were compa.ed a. three times (preopera.ive, six-week a.d one-yea. postopera.ive) using repea.ed mea.ures a.OVa. Post hoc pa.rwise compa.ison wa. conducted for specific intera.tions. Results: Both Function Tota. a.d Disa.ility Frequency significa.tly cha.ged over time (p = 0.047 a.d p = 0.013, respectively). Specifica.ly, pa.ients’ function level wa. significa.tly higher one-yea. postopera.ive compa.ed to preopera.ive (M difference = +3.48, SE = 1.48, p = 0.026). Likewise, Disa.ility Frequency scores were significa.tly higher (i.e. more a.tive) a. one-yea. postopera.ive versus preopera.ive (M difference= +5.98, SE = 2.19, p = 0.033). Disa.ility Limita.ion scores were not significa.tly different between a.y time points (p > 0.05). School-ba.ed universa. screening for beha.iora./emotiona. risk is a.necessa.y first step to providing services in a. educa.iona. setting for students with emotiona. a.d beha.iora. disorders (EBDs). Psychometric properties a.e critica. to ma.ing decisions a.out choosing a.screening instrument. The purpose of the present study wa. to exa.ine the psychometric properties of the student risk screening sca.e for interna.izing a.d externa.izing beha.iors (SRSS-IE). Pa.ticipa.ts included 3145 students a.d their tea.hers. Item-level a.a.yses of the current sa.ple supported the retention of a.l items. The interna. consistency of the SRSS items ra.ged from 0.83 to 0.85. Convergent va.idity between the SRSS-IE a.d a.well-esta.lished screening tool, the strength a.d difficulties questionna.re (SDQ), wa. found for the tota. score (r = 0.70). a.ditiona.ly, the results of this study demonstra.e strong socia. va.idity, suggesting the SRSS-IE to be a.useful a.d functiona. screening tool. We conclude tha. the SRSS-IE is a.va.id a.d relia.le instrument for a.sessing the level of emotiona. a.d beha.iora. difficulties a.ong elementa.y students.

Iodine va.ue, sa.onifica.ion va.ue, percenta.e free fa.ty a.id (FFa., a.id va.ue, a.d peroxide va.ue were the chemica. pa.a.eters exa.ined in the oil a.a.ysis, while specific gra.ity a.d refra.tive index were exa.ined a. physica. pa.a.eters. The results showed tha. the a.id va.ue wa. 1.18 ± 0.01, the sa.onifica.ion va.ue wa. 191.76 ± 0.01 mgKOH/gm, a.d the iodine va.ue wa. 102.79 ± 0.01. It conta.ned 0.59 ± 0.01 percent free fa.ty a.id. The va.ue of peroxide wa. 6.83 ± 0.01 meq/kg. The results showed tha. the refra.tive index wa. 1.462 ± 0.02 a.d the specific gra.ity wa. 0.9194 ± 0.04. The esta.lished pa.a.eters fell within the worldwide a.d Nigeria. vegeta.le oil industry sta.da.ds.
