There is an increase in annual waste generation due to ur.anization,industrialization,and population *** waste management crisis in developing countries and its complexity from region to region has inspired extensive research work in this *** management not only results in environmental hazards,but it also causes significant socio-economic *** to the absence of comprehensive studies on waste to energy(WTE)assessment,this study assesses and reports the merits of alternative technologies for converting WTE in small and medium-size *** analysis for waste collection data in this study uses a pilot study approach to provide useful insights and waste classification.A cantonment district of Pakistan(Wah Cantt)has been used as a case study for performing a technological and economic assessment of energy generation through the use of thermal and biological treatment processes.A mathematical modeling approach has been adopted for generating an economic value of each technology through which this waste can be ***,the levelized cost of energy(LCOE)based assessment has been performed to provide a methodological framework for selecting the most feasible WTE technology in a small or medium-size *** on the model results,anaerobic digestion appears to be the most sustainable technology due to the organic natur. of waste in Wah Cantt,land legislation,and availability of area to install a waste *** all the waste collected,the district can generate approximately 14.4 MW of energy through thermal treatment,19,110 m^(3) of daily biogas through anaerobic digestion,and 5 million tons of fertilizer through ***,if a proper supply chain is established for converting a portion of Pakistan’s annual waste generation,a significant amount of waste energy potential can be restored.

Microgrid has emerged as an answer to growing demand for distributed generation(DG) in power systems. It contains several DG units including microalternator, photovoltaic system and wind generation. It tur.s out that sustained operation relies on the stability of these constituent systems. In this paper, a microgrid consisting of microalternator and photovoltaic system is modeled as a networked control system of systems(So S)subjected to packet dropouts and delays. Next, an observerbased controller is designed to stabilize the system in presence of the aforementioned communication constraints and simulation results are provided to support the control design methodology.

In recent years, great progress has been made regarding the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly in the field of biological therapies. Nevertheless, the ultimate treatment is not in sight. With the development of new medication, it has become clear that we need a new understanding of IBD. Therapy needs to fit the different subtypes of IBD; e.g. mild disease in comparison to severe chronic active disease or Crohn's disease with or without fistulation or stenosis. The following article gives a practical overview of actual treatments for IBD. The intention of this article is not to provide a complete review of all new scientific developments, but to give a practical guideline for therapy of IBD.

An optimal algorithmic approach to task scheduling for, triplet based architectur.（TriBA）, is proposed in this paper. TriBA is considered to be a high performance, distributed parallel computing architectur.. TriBA consists of a 2D grid of small, programmable processing units, each physically connected to its three neighbors. In parallel or distributed environment an efficient assignment of tasks to the processing elements is imperative to achieve fast job tur.around time. Moreover, the sojour. time experienced by each individual job should be minimized. The arriving jobs are comprised of parallel applications, each consisting of multiple-independent tasks that must be instantaneously assigned to processor queues, as they arrive. The processors independently and concur.ently service these tasks. The key scheduling issues is, when some queue backlogs are small, an incoming job should first spread its tasks to those lightly loaded queues in order to take advantage of the parallel processing gain. Our.algorithmic approach achieves optimality in task scheduling by assigning consecutive tasks to a triplet of processors exploiting locality in tasks. The experimental results show that tasks allocation to triplets of processing elements is efficient and optimal. Comparison to well accepted interconnection strategy, 2D mesh, is shown to prove the effectiveness of our.algorithmic approach for TriBA. Finally we conclude that TriBA can be an efficient interconnection strategy for computations intensive applications, if tasks assignment is carried out optimally using algorithmic approach.

Physical-layer network coding(PNC) promises substantial theoretical gain to achieve the maximum system throughput in cooperative relay transmission. However, with the increasing global warming, how to reduce power consumption while satisfy system throughput requirement is becoming a vital issue. In this paper, we investigate energy-efficiency resour.e allocation(RA) based on PNC with amplify-and-forward(AF) protocol in orthogonal frequency division multiple(OFDM) bidirectional transmission. To minimize the overall transmit power consumption with required system throughput requirement, we consider joint subcarriers and power allocation and formulate the objective task into a constrained optimization problem where the best relay node is selected to minimize total transmit power. The closed form optimization power allocation solutions are acquired by analytical derivation. Based on derivation, we propose a novel optimal energy-efficient power allocation(OE-PA). Numerical results are given to evaluate the performance of the derived scheme as compared to other schemes and show that our.scheme has signifi cant improvement to energy saving.

Thermoelectric and electronic properties of cubic bi-intermetallics R-Au（R = Tb, Ho. Er. Tm and Yb）compounds were explored. Electronic properties i.e. density of states and band structur. were computed using first principles calculations which proved the metallic natur. of these compounds. Post-DFT（BoltzTraP） calculations were carried out to explore their thermoelectric properties like electrical conductivities. Seebeck coefficient, electronic thermal conductivities and figur. of merit. The highest Seebeck coefficient and figur. of merit were found for YbAu among these compounds which are 105 μV/K and 0.285 respectively. All the calculations were carried out at 300 K. Large values of figur. of merit obtained for these compounds at room temperatur. indicate that these materials can be used for thermoelectric devices however need experimental verification.

Whole brain functional connectivity(FC)patterns obtained from resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(rs-fMRI)have been widely used in the diagnosis of brain disorders such as autism spectrum disorder(ASD).Recently,an increasing number of studies have focused on employing deep learning techniques to analyze FC patterns for brain disease ***,the high dimensionality of the FC featur.s and the interpretation of deep learning results are issues that need to be addressed in the FC-based brain disease *** this paper,we proposed a multi-scale attention-based deep neur.l network(MSA-DNN)model to classify FC patterns for the ASD *** model was implemented by adding a flexible multi-scale attention(MSA)module to the auto-encoder based backbone DNN,which can extract multi-scale featur.s of the FC patterns and change the level of attention for different FCs by continuous *** model will reinforce the weights of important FC featur.s while suppress the unimportant FCs to ensur. the sparsity of the model weights and enhance the model *** performed systematic experiments on the large multi-sites ASD dataset with both ten-fold and leaveone-site-out *** showed that our.model outperformed classical methods in brain disease classification and revealed robust intersite prediction *** also localized important FC featur.s and brain regions associated with ASD ***,our.study fur.her promotes the biomarker detection and computer-aided classification for ASD diagnosis,and the proposed MSA module is flexible and easy to implement in other classification networks.
