The article presents results of the computer simulation of quenching large-size parts in water and aqueous solutions. It has been shown that the main attention should be paid to eliminating film boiling and providing uniform cooling at the surface of the part to be quenched. Simplified formulas for calculating the optimal time of cooling large-size steel parts are presented.

The influence of flux cored arc welding （FCAW） process parameters such as welding current, travel speed, voltage and CO2 shielding gas flow rate on bowing distortion of 409M ferritic stainless steel sheets of 2 mm in thickness was discussed. The bowing distortions of the welded plates were measured using a simple device called profile tracer. An experimental regression equation was developed to predict the bowing distortion and with this equation, it is easy to select optimized process parameters to achieve minimum bowing distortion. It is revealed that the FCAW process parameters have significant influence on bead profile and the bowing distortion.

The study of the triple junctions of the grain boundaries in some fee solid solutions, ordered alloys and intermetallics with L12 has been carried out using the optical metallography and TEM methods. Two-types of the triple junctions were found in the alloys investigated (1), consisting of the boundaries of the random (RT), and (2), consisting of the RT boundary and the special boundaries (ST). The relative values of the RT and ST boundary energy were determined on the basis of the measurements of the angles between the grain boundary planes. It has been shown that the energy of ST boundaries increases with the increase of the stacking fault (SF) energy. The energy of the RT boundaries does not depend on the SF energy.

Cure characteristics of hydroxyl terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) prepolymer with avariety of blocked toluene diisocyanate (TDI) in the presence of triethylamine (TEA) andchloroacetic acid catalyst are reported. Phenol, thiophenol, p-chloropheno1, p-nitrophenol,p-cresol, resorcinol, naphthols, caprolactam and butylated-hydroxytoluene were used as blockingagents. viscosity measurements have been carried out using a mixture of HTPB and blocked TDIin cyclohexanone in the presence of the catalysts at 50℃ and 60℃ using Haake rotational vis-cometer. viscosity measurements have also been carried out with 50% solids such as ammonium sulphate along with HTPB and TDI adduct.

Controlled release of TDI and hence the cure characteristics of several blocked TDI with HTPB are reported. The reactions were followed through viscosity measurements as a function of time and temperature under the catalytic influence of triethylamine. The effect of nature of substituents present on the end capping substrate, temperature, solvent, basicity of catalyst and kinetics thereon have been studied.

Using the skyrme energy density formalism, a pocket formula is introduced for barrier heights and positions of 95 fusion reactions(48≤ZPZT≤1520) with respect to the charge and mass numbers of the interacting nuclei. It is shown that the parameterized values of RBand vBare able to reproduce the corresponding experimental data with good accuracy. Moreover, the absolute errors of our formulas are less than those obtained using the analytical parametrization forms of the fusion barrier based on the proximity versions. The ability of the parameterized forms of the barrier heights and its positions to reproduce the experimental data of the fusion cross section have been analyzed using the Wong model.

The mechanisms for the morphological delimitation of species in Carollia remain poorly *** is the first study to assess variation in size and shape from strictly geometric *** factors are assessed by statistical perspectives of distribution,overlap and relative *** its overlap,the size of the skull seems to be the most influential character for the discrimination of species,with shape playing a much smaller *** smallest species seems to be the most distinct in shape,not only in terms of distance among centroids in morphometric space,but also in the overall trend and direction of *** to previous studies,sexual dimorphism is not given by size but by distinct shapes of the *** such as the shape of the maxilla,previously described qualitatively as discrete with sharp boundaries,appear to be truly continuous with fuzzy borders among *** morphometric space is a gamut of continuous variation and overlap,the taxonomic error rate for size characters seems to be substantial for the medium-sized species(Carollia brevicauda Schinz,1821),with approximately 30–40%of individuals erroneously assigned to a different species after a jackknifed discriminant *** taxonomic error is higher for shape ***,systematic and ecological consequences of the observed patterns of shape and size variation are commented within the context of previously proposed arguments and hypotheses.

In this report, using computer simulations, we investigate the channeling of high-energy charged parti- cles in nanotube ropes and fullerites and estimate the capability of bent nanocrystals to deflect a particle beam. We also discuss electromagnetic radiation arising both from the non-uniform motion of the particles in the electrostatic potential of aligned atoms and from the transient polarization of the medium caused by the particles.
