The effects of stress components on nucleation sites and propagation directions of stress cor- rosion cracks in brass were investigated with specimens under mode Ⅱ and mode Ⅲ loadings. The results indicated that under mode Ⅱ loading,stress corrosion cracks nucleated on the site with maximum normal stress component and propagated along the plane perpendieular to the maximum normal stress,under mode Ⅲ loading,the stress corrosion crack was not evident on the 45°plane due to the general corrosion in aqueous solution with high NH_4OH concentra- tion,while stress corroded in aqueous solution with low NH_4OH concentration, numerous cracks with spacings of 10—150μm were found on the 45°plane with maximum normal stress and no stress corrosion cracks was observed on the plane with maximum shear stress.

China university of Mining technology (CUMT) is a national key university being directed under the Ministry of Education. CUMT has been officially listed as one of the selected university for the national “211 Project”. With the development of over ninety years,CUMT has formed a discipline major system with a priority to engineering,with mining feature,and combined with science,engineering,liberal,management,law,economy and other multiple subjects developed harmoniously. CUMT currently offers 19 colleges,63 undergraduate disciplines,7 state-level key disciplines,and 8 provincial or ministerial-level key disciplines. CUMT offers positions in seven disciplines for “professors specially engaged under the Yangtze River Scholar Prize Program”. CUMT also provides postdoctoral research opportunities in 9 research areas,and has the authority to confer doctoral and master’s degree as a whole field in 5 top-layer disciplines. CUMT yet has the authority to confer doctoral degree in 50 disciplines,master’s degree in 96 disciplines,4 subject fields in major’s degree and 9 post-doctoral research stations. CUMT currently has 2953 staffs,which includes 1495 teaching stuff,five academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering,145 supervisors for doctoral graduates,207 professors,and 327 associate professors. There are more than 36,000 students in CUMT Xuzhou campuses.

It is found that the incorporation of Nitrite Corrosion Inhibitor (NCI) greatly weakens the resistance of mixtures to sulfate attack. To study the mechanism of this phenomenon, in this paper, the influence of NCI addition on the cement paste and microstructure change of high performance concrete specimens is studied by means of quantitative XRD, SEM tests. The results demonstrate that the incorporation of NCI accelerates the formation of calcium hydroxide and ettringite crystals, and weakens the pore refinement effect caused by the secondary hydration reaction of fly ash and microsilica. At the age up to one year, the relative crystal quantity in mixture containing NCI is always higher than that in control mixture. The reasons for the degradation in sulfate resistance of mixtures may be attributed to the increase and stability of the calcium hydroxide and ettringite crystals formed and the weakening of secondary hydration reaction. Based on the results, conclusion can be drawn that NCI should be used cautiously in practical engineering where high resistance to sulfate attack is required. (Author abstract) 7 Refs.

A new concept, namely, the equivalent mobility matrix of coupling subsystem is proposed, and the corresponding threesubsystem coupling progressive approach is explored. With the new efficient approach presented, the complexity in dealing with a more complicated dynamic coupling system is greatly reduced. The new modeling method is then combined with the theory of power flow to investigate the dynamics of the overall non rigid isolation system from the viewpoint of energy. The interaction between the resilient machine of its main modes and the resonant behavior of the flexible foundation on power flow transmission is studied. Taking a machine tool mounted on a multi story working plant as an example, the dynamic characteristics of the machine foundation coupling system are analyzed, and their effects on power flow transmission are revealed under various service frequency bands. Some advisable control strategies and the design principle for machinery mounted on flexible structure are proposed.

The slope stability is affected by multiple factors. Thecomprehensive evaluation of the slope stability is a complicateproblem. The principles of extension theory have been used in thispaper to establish the matter-element model for the evaluation ofslope stability. The quantitative evaluated results have been giventhrough the calculation of the matter-element dependent degree.

The technology of activation by adding few activators ( less than 1%) to increase the amount of blends in cement was investigated. The results show that outer activation has a remarkable effect on improving the physical properties of slag cement, flyash cement and volcanic cement. For example, the compressive strength was increased by 5-10 MPa. Morever, the application of activation is beneficial to grind-aiding, early strength and water-reducing etc. (Author abstract) 4 Refs.

The solidification processing of SiCp/ZL108 composite material developed by mechanical stirring molten matrix alloy containing flux treated SiC particles is studied. The criterion and model of particles well distributed in matrix are discussed. The bonding structure of interface between SiC particles and ZL108 matrix and the morphology of tensile fracture are analysed by using JXA-840A electron-probe. The mechanism of crack propagating is explored preliminarily.
