In this study,the structural control strategy utilizing a passive tuned mass damper(TMD)system as a seismic damping device is outlined,highlighting the parametric optimization approach for displacement and acceleration *** theory of stationary random processes and complex frequency response functions are explained and *** the vibration control of an undamped structure,the optimal parameters of a TMD,such as the optimal tuning frequency and optimal damping ratio,to stationary Gaussian white noise acceleration are investigated by using a parametric optimization *** damped structures,a numerical searching technique is used to obtain the optimal parameters of the TMD,and then the explicit formulae for these optimal parameters are derived through a sequence of curve-fitting *** these specified optimal parameters,several different controlled responses are examined,and then the displacement and acceleration based control effectiveness indices of the TMD are examined from the view point of RMS *** the viewpoint of the RMS values of displacement and acceleration,the optimal TMDs adopted in this study shows clear performance improvements for the simplified model examined,and this means that the effective optimization of the TMD has a good potential as a customized target response-based structural strategy.

Host immune responses, such as those initiated by pattern recognition receptor (PRR) activation, are important for viralclearance and pathogenesis. However, little is known about the interactions of viral proteins with surface PRRs or, moreimportantly, the association of innate immune activation with viral pathogenesis. In this study, we showed that internalinfluenza virus proteins were released from infected cells. Among these proteins, nucleoprotein (NP) played a critical role inviral pathogenesis by stimulating neighboring cells through toll-like receptor (TLR)2, TLR4, and the NLR family pyrin domaincontaining 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome. Through the activation of these PRRs, NP induced the production of interleukin (IL)-1β andIL-6, which subsequently led to the induction of trypsin. Trypsin induced by NP increased the infectivity of influenza virus,leading to increases in viral replication and pathology upon subsequent viral infection. These results reveal the role of releasedNP in influenza pathogenesis and highlight the importance of the interactions of internal viral proteins with PRRs in theextracellular compartment during viral pathogenesis.

Palm fatty acid distillate(PFAD),a by-product of refining process of crude palm oil can be used as a potential feedstock for biodiesel ***,the application of palm oil-based biodiesel is often hinder by its poor cold flow properties(CFP).Biodiesel fuel with poor CFP may crystallize and result in clogging of fuel lines,filters and injectors that cause engine operability *** that,a vacuum distillation method was designed and its feasibility and efficiency in improving the CFP was examined.A total of 13.60wt%of total saturated fatty acid methyl esters were successfully removed from the PFAD biodiesel,resulting in the improvement of the cloud point(CP),cold filter plugging point(CFPP)and pour point(PP)of PFAD biodiesel from 20℃,19℃,and 15℃to 13℃,11℃,and 9℃,*** is remarkable that the improved CFPP satisfied the requirements for grade C summer biodiesel for temperate climates in EN 14212 ***,Sarin(U FAME)empirical correlation was evaluated and it was found to have a good prediction of CFP for PFAD biodiesel,with lower than 2℃deviation.

Changes in smoking behavior and adherence to preventive guidelines among smokers after a heart attack

*** sterilization and germination *** seeds were surface sterilized in 70%ethanol for 15 min,2%NaClO added 1 drop of Tween 20 for 25 min and then rinsed in four to six volumes of sterile water. Approximately 200 seeds were placed in round Petri dishes(90 mm×25 mm) containing 0.1% Noble *** plates were sealed with parafilm,placed at 4℃for 2 days to stimulate germination,and then transferred to a 16℃growth incubator under a light condition. Germination occurred 10-14 days after sowing.

Objective Risk factor modification is key to preventing subsequent cardiac events after a heart attack. This study was designed to investigate the disparity between preventive guidelines and clinical practice among smoking patients. Methods The study was carried out in smokers admitted with myocardial infarction (MI). Atotal of 275 patients who had been regularly followed for over one year after MI were randomly selected and enrolled in this *** investigated changes in smoking behavior and the adherence rate to ACC/AHA Guidelines for secondary prevention in patients with coronary artery disease at the time of, and one year after, the index event. Results The study population consisted of 275 patients (97.1% males) with a mean age of 57.0 ±11.2 years. Achievement of target goals at one year was as follows: smoking cessation, 52.3%; blood pressure, 83.9%; HbA1c, 32.7%; lipid profile, 65.5%; and body mass index (BMI), 50.6%. Over one year, 80% of the patients attempted to quit smoking; 27% of them re-started smoking within one month after discharge while 65% succeeded in cessation of smoking. At one year, only 52% of the patients overall had stopped smoking. From the multivariate logistic analysis including smoking patterns and clinical characteristics, the severity of coronary artery disease was the only independent predictor for smoking cessation (Relative risk (RR): 1.230; P = 0.022). Conclusions Only a small percentage of MI patients adhere to guidelines for secondary prevention and a sizable proportion fail to stop smoking. These findings underscore the need for an effective patient education system.

为建立克隆辣椒倍半萜环化酶基因的cDNA文库，我们尝试了用紫外线（UV）处理离体辣椒叶片，考察UV对辣椒倍半萜环化酶活性的影响，结果表明：UV能诱导辣椒叶片表达信半萜环化酶活性；不同抗性水平的辣椒品种倍半萜环化酶活性对紫外线的反应有差异，紫外线处理后，抗病品种cm334在24h出现酶活性高峰，而感病品种subiche在36～42h出现酶活性高峰；在紫外线处理后0～24hcm334的酶活性高于subiche。UV对辣椒倍半萜环化酶活性的诱导作用与UV的作用方式、剂量及辣椒植株的生育期有关，紫外线交联处理45s诱导10叶期的倍半萜环化酶活性最高；5支15W紫外灯相距20cm照射15min低于1支相同的紫外灯处理；在相同的UV作用下，开花前辣椒叶片倍半萜环化酶活性显著高于开花以后的辣椒叶片。另一方面，紫外线处理是辣椒叶片中的鲨烯合成酶活性受到一定程度的拟制。

Recognition of walking environments and gait period by surface electromyography

Recognizing and predicting the movement and intention of the wearer in control of an exoskeleton robot is very challenging. It is difficult for exoskeleton robots, which measure and drive human movements, to interact with humans. Therefore, many different types of sensors are needed. When using various sensors, a data design is needed for effective sensing. An electromyographic(EMG) signal can be used to identify intended motion before the actual movement, and the delay time can be shortened via control of the exoskeleton robot. Before using a lower limb exoskeleton to help in walking, the aim of this work is to distinguish the walking environment and gait period using various sensors, including the surface electromyography(sE MG) sensor. For this purpose, a gait experiment was performed on four subjects using the ground reaction force, human–robot interaction force, and position sensors with sEMG sensors. The purpose of this paper is to show progress with the use of sEMG when recognizing walking environments and the gait period with other sensors. For effective data design, we used a combination of sensor types, sEMG sensor locations, and sEMG features. The results obtained using an individual mechanical sensor together with sEMG showed improvement compared to the case of using an individual sensor, and the combination of sEMG and position information showed the best performance in the same number of combinations of three sensors. When four sensor combinations were used, the environment classification accuracy was 96.1%, and the gait period classification accuracy was 97.8%. Vastus medialis(VM) and gastrocnemius(GAS) were the most effective combinations of two muscle types among the five sEMG sensor locations on the legs, and the results were 74.4% in pre-heel contact(preHC) and 71.7% in pre-toe-off(preTO) for environment classification, and 68.0% for gait period classification, when using only the sE MG sensor.
