We employ the Duan-Rach-Wazwaz modified Adomian decomposition method for solving initial value problems for the systems of nonlinear ordinary differential equations numerically. In order to confirm practicality, robustness and reliability of the method, we compare the results from the modified Adomian decomposition method with those from the MATHEMATICA solutions and also from the fourth-order Runge Kutta method solutions in some cases. Furthermore, we apply Padé approximants technique to improve the solutions of the modified decomposition method whenever the exact solutions exist.

Background: Trunk volume(Vt) is an essential parameter for estimating forest stand volume, biomass, and carbon sequestration potential. As the dominant tree species in desert riparian forests, Euphrates poplar(Populus euphratica) has a high proportion of irregularly shaped tree trunks along the Tarim River, NW China, where the habitat is very fragile owing to long-term water stress. This causes uncertainty in estimation accuracy as well as technical challenges for forest surveys. Our study aimed to acquire P. euphratica Vtusing terrestrial laser scanning(TLS) and to establish a species-specific Vtprediction ***: A total of 240 individual trees were measured by TLS multiple-station in 12 sampling plots in three sections along the lower reaches of the Tarim River. Vtwas calculated by a definite integration method using trunk diameters(Di) at every 0.1-m tree height obtained from TLS, and all data were split randomly into two sets:70% of data were used to estimate the model parameter calibration, and the remaining 30% were used for model validation. Sixteen widely used candidate tree Vtestimation models were fitted to the TLS-measured Vtand tree structural parameter data, including tree height(H), diameter at breast height(DBH), and basal diameter(BD). All model performances were evaluated and compared by the statistical parameters of determination coefficient(R^(2)),root mean square error(RMSE), Bayesian information criterion(BIC), mean prediction error(ME), mean absolute error(MAE), and modeling efficiency(EF), and accordingly the best model was ***: TLS point cloud reflection intensity(RI) has advantageous in the extraction of data from irregular tree trunk structures. The P. euphratica tree Vtvalues showed obvious differences at the same tree height(H). Objective: To investigate the association between IL-1 Ra variable number of tandem repeat(rs2234663), IL-6-597 GA(rs1800797), IL-6-572 GC(rs1800796) and the risk of CrimeanCongo hemorrhagic fever(CCHF) in the Turkish patients. Methods: This study included 50 patients infected with CCHF and 50 healthy controls. These variants were genotyped using polymerase chain reaction and/or restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Results: The distribution of the IL-6-572 GC genotypes and alleles varied significantly between the patients and the controls. The subjects carrying IL-6-572 GC GG genotype and G allele had increased risk of developing CCHF compared to the control group(P=0.006, P=0.014, respectively). IL-6-572 GC GC genotype was higher in the controls than the patients(P=0.006). For the triple genotype combinations, the 1/2-GC-GG genotype combination was detected more frequently in the control group than CCHF patients(P=0.016). IL-6(-572/-597) GG-GG genotype was significantly higher in the patient group(P=0.015), while the GC-GG genotype was significantly lower in the patient group(P=0.005). Additionally, the G-G haplotype was significantly higher in the patient group(P=0.042), whereas C-G was found to be significantly lower in the patients than the control group(P=0.037). Conclusions: The results of this study suggest the IL-6-572 GC variant might be genetic markers of sensitivity to CCHF in the Turkish population and may facilitate greater protection against the disease.

Effects of Community Mental Health Centers on Oxidative Stress in Patients with Schizophrenia

Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate of oxidative stress between the schizophrenic patients who regularly continued to Community Mental Health Centers (CMHC) and the patients who did not continue to CMHC. By this study, the effects of CMHC on oxidative stress between these two group of patients were assessed. Methods: Total number of 86 volunteers were enrolled in this study;43 (27 males, 16 females) patients who regularly continued (average 2 years, at least 3 days a week) to CMHC and 43 (25 males, 18 females) patients who regularly did not continue to CMHC. Total antioxidative stress (TAS), total oxidative stress (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI), paraoxanase (PON1), arylesterase (ARE) and total thiol (***) levels were measured with a novel automated method. Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was used to assess the patients. Results: TOS, PANSS-Negative subscale and PANSS-Total subscale were found to be significantly higher in the group of patients who were not continuing to CMHC, than the group of patients who were continuing to CMHC. ARE and *** were found significantly lower in the group of patients who were not continuing to CMHC. There was a significant positive correlation between PANSS-Negative Subscale and TOS, OSI in the group of patients who were not continuing to CMHC. There was a positive correlation between PANSS-Negative Subscale and TOS in the group of patients who were continuing to CMHC. Conclusions: Oxidative stress and negative symptoms of schizophrenia in the group of patients who were continuing to CMHC were less than in the group of patients who were not continuing to CMHC. Thus, regular follow up at CMHC is very important in the treatment of schizophrenia patients.

This study was aimed to find a practical technique for isolation and culture spermatogonial stem cells from male brown trout(Salmo trutta macrostigma).Twelve wild juvenile male were obtained from K?l?cTrout Fish Farm(Kahramanmara?,Turkey).The juveniles were taken alive to the aquaria unit and stored in a 1000-liter capacity fiberglass *** order to identify the best size,age and testis structure of *** for spermatogonial stem cell isolation and *** and histological testis conditions were *** were anesthetized with 0.04%*** surface of the fish was sterilized with 70%*** fish were divided into two groups for enzyme digestion,and each group was divided into two replicates(three fish per replicate).Testis tissue of group one were digested by 0.25%trypsin-EDTA,and testis tissues of group two were digested by 0.05%*** the end of the trial,first,the best age,size and weight of the male fish for spermatogonial stem cell isolation and culture were identified as 5+month old,12.13±1.5 cm,19,25±7.05 g ***,the highest spermatogonial stem cells were measured in the stage one and two of the ***,isolation and culture conditions were optimized for male *** stem cell isolation and culture techniques were defined for fish in order to be used in surrogate reproduction technologies and gene transfer systems.

The aim of this work was to investigate the electrical resistance change of electro-textiles manufactured using cotton fabrics with stainless steel and silver plated PA yarns incorporation after being subjected to home laundering, i.e. detergent washing and silicone softening. Electrical resistances of conductive yams inside the fabric structure were compared and discussed statistically before and after washing and softener application. Greatest changes in electrical resistances were observed with samples including silver plated PA yams. After five washing cycles with detergent, silicone softening agent is removed from yarns by washing, and thus conductivity increases. Further washing of e-textiles with detergent for five more cycles causes decrease in conductivity, because of chemical effects of detergent and mechanical effects of washing process such as abrasion due to friction. Detergent which has negative reactive sites bonds with metal ions reduces conductivity.

Thiol-Disulfide Homeostasis in Patients with Panic Disorder

Objective: To determine serum thiol/disulfide homeostasis in panic disorder (PD). Methods: Serum native thiol, total thiol, and disulfide levels were measured in the patients with 40 PD patients and 40 healthy subjects. Serum native thiol, total thiol, and disulfide levels were measured with a novel colorimetric, automated method. The thiol-disulfide ratio was also calculated. Results: The native thiol (p Conclusion: This is the first study in the literature to evaluate thiol-disulfide homeostasis in patients with PD. Our results suggest that the disulfide/thiol ratio is significantly greater in panic disorder patients.

Necrotizing enterocolitis [NEC] is an inflammatory disease of intestine largely occuring in preterm infants with a wide range of damage from minimal injury limited to mucosa to extensive necrosis of bowel wall and perforation. Despite advancements in neonatal care, mortality remains high [30% - 50%] and controversy still persists with regards to the most appropriate management of neonates with necrotizing enterocolitis. The main factors thought to be involved in the pathogenesis of NEC are: relatively hyper-reactive state of premature intestine, enteral feeding and bacterial colonization. In this review, we discuss current knowledge about the epidemiology, pathophysiology, imaging, medical and surgical management of necrotizing enterocolitis and describe novel strategies for prevention and treatment.

Comparison of Caregivers of Schizophrenia and Chronic Renal Failure Patients in Terms of Family Burden, Social Support and Psychological Well-Being

Objective: Schizophrenia is a lifelong chronic psychiatric disorder with a relatively early onset. Renal failure, a chronic physical disorder has also negative effects on the families and causes a serious burden in a similar manner. It is aimed in this study to investigate to what extent the burden, social support and psychological wellbeing among the caregivers of schizophrenic patients compare to those of the caregivers of chronic renal failure patients. Methods: Relatives of patients with schizophrenia and chronic renal failure were included in the study. Each group consisted of 30 volunteers. The volunteers completed demographical information questionnaire, Burden Interview Scale (BIS), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and General Health Questionnaire (GSA). Results: A dominance of female caregivers was found in the study. There was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of burden. Among the caregivers of chronic renal failure was a positive correlation both between age and burden and education and social support respectively. It was found out that relatives of chronic renal failure got less social support and reported a poorer psychological wellbeing when compared to the relatives of schizophrenic patients. A negative correlation was found between social support and burden in both of the study groups. Conclusion: The results of this study underline the importance of social support in alleviating the burden of the caregivers of chronic patients. The monitarisation of the psychological states of caregivers of both the schizophrenic and renal failure patients has to be taken into consideration.
