Effect of gamification applications on success of dentistry students

BACKGROUND Gamification,the use of game materials in education,has been used in several scientific fields,and studies have demonstrated its effectiveness in student *** To evaluate whether the success of 4th-and 5th-grade dentistry students increases when using the gamification applications Kahoot!and *** An experimental design was used to measure the effect of gamification applications on students who were taught using the traditional *** this purpose,Mentimeter and Kahoot!applications were used in this experimental *** groups of 4th-and 5th-grade students were formed:Mentimeter,Kahoot!,and control *** effect of gamification applications on achievement was evaluated by administering a post-test to these groups after the instructional ***-way analysis of variance and t-tests were used for statistical *** A total of 35.5%of the students were in the Mentimeter group,29.8%in the Kahoot!group,and 34.6%in the control *** the total number of students,54.8%were female and 45.2%were male,while 52.2%were 5th-grade students and 47.8%were 4th-grade *** overall grade point average was found to be 66.65(range,24-100).There was a statistically significant difference in average success scores between students of different groups(P=0.003<0.05)and grades(P=0.036<0.05).The average success score was the highest in the Mentimeter group(71.64)and the lowest in the Kahoot!group(62.15).In the control group,this score was *** average success score was higher for students in the 5thgrade(68.16)and for female students(68.84).CONCLUSION Gamification has a great potential in the education of dentomaxillofacial radiology *** outperformed both the Kahoot!and the traditional method in terms of average student success rates.

Background:Ataxia telangiectasia (AT) is a genetically based multisystemic *** aimed to make a comprehensive evaluation of multisystem involvement in AT by describing clinical features and outcome of 91 ***:Medical records of the patients who were diagnosed and followed by a multidisciplinary approach during a 27-year period (1988-2015) were reviewed ***:Forty six female and 45 male patients with a mean follow-up period of 39.13±4.28 months were *** mean age at the time of symptom onset and diagnosis were 15.4±1.09 months and 73.6144.11 months,*** abnormalities were progressive truncal ataxia,nystagmus,dysarthria,oculomotor apraxia and *** one patients (34.1%) became dependent on wheelchair at a mean age of 12.1±2.8 *** patients (12.1%) became bedridden by a mean age of 14.7±1.8 *** magnetic resonance imaging revealed pathological findings in 47/66 *** immunological parameters were determined in 51/91 patients:immunoglobulin (Ig)A deficiency (n=38),lymphopenia (n=30),IgG (n=15) and IgG2 (n=11) *** of recurrent sinopulmonary infections (n=45) and bronchiectasis (n=22) were found to be more common in patients with impaired immunological parameters (P=0.029and P=0.023,respectively).Malignancy developed in 5 patients,being mostly lymphoreticular in origin and resulted in death of 4 ***:AT is a long lasting disease with muitisystem involvement necessitating multidisciplinary follow up,as described in our *** diagnosis of malignancy and supportive treatments regarding pulmonary and neurological health may prolong survival and increase the quality of life.

The aim of this study was to determine the species composition, biodiversity and, relative abundance of epiphytic algae and their relationship with environmental variables on Typha latifolia and Phragmites australis at Lake Gala(National Park). Epiphytic algae were gathered monthly by collecting aquatic plants between March 2014 and November 2014. In the epiphytic flora were a total of 133 taxa were identified, 107 taxa were identified on T. latifolia and 96 were discovered on P. australis. While the mean species richness, species diversity and evenness values of the algae identified on T. latifolia were 46, 1.85 and 0.51 respectively, these values were respectively 43, 1.51 and 0.43 on P. australis. While diatoms were generally dominant, other dominant groups in the epiphytic flora included green algae and blue-green algae. The algae that had the highest relative biovolume on T. latifolia were Spirogyra affinis, Oscillatoria sancta and Gomphonema acuminatum, while the algae that had the highest relative biovolume on P. australis were E pithemia adnata, Oscillatoria sancta and R hopalodia gibba. Results show that species composition of epiphytic algae was different, but diversity values were similar on all the macrophytes. The hydrological pulse is one of the most important factors determining the physical and chemical environment of the epiphytic algal community. It was found that some environmental factors were highly eff ective on community distribution in the epiphyton. Additionally, it was observed that some epiphytic algae species had a substrate preference between T. latifolia and P. australis.

Let K be a 2-torsion free ring with identity and Rn(K, J) be the ring of all n × n matrices over K such that the entries on and above the main diagonal are elements of an ideal J of K. We describe all Jordan derivations of the matrix ring Rn(K, J) in this paper. The main result states that every Jordan derivation △ of Rn(K, J) is of the form △= D +Ω, where D is a derivation of Rn(K, J) and Ω is an extremal Jordan derivation of Rn(K, J).
