Even-aged silvicultural methods have been successfully used to manage longleaf pine (Pinus palustris Mill.) forests for wood production;however, successful use of uneven-aged methods to manage this ecosystem is less well documented. In this study, the effects of varying levels of residual basal area (RBA) (9.2, 13.8, and 18.4 m2·ha-1) on longleaf pine germination and establishment under selection silviculture marked using the Proportional-B method were observed. In addition to RBA, photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) was measured, and the relationships between light penetration, germination, and growth were examined. The study found an inverse relationship between RBA and the number of germinants, but the mortality of germinants was not influenced by RBA. PAR also had a significant positive effect on germination, but, did not affect mortality of germinants. In addition, RBA and PAR had no effect on mortality or growth of planted seedlings. Continued monitoring of seedling recruitment into the stand will be required to determine the efficacy of the system. However, nothing in the first year data suggests that this approach will not be successful in sustaining an uneven-aged stand.

Large-scale accounting scandals which were reflected to the world public opinion particularly in the 2000s （such as Enron, Lucent, Xerox, and Parmalat Bank for Reconstruction） carried the matter of fraudulent financial reporting which was made to deceive the financial statement users （Fraudulent Financial Report （FFR）） to the forefront in the agenda of the academicians, operators, and regulatory authorities. As in every crime action, the most effective measure to be taken in preventing FFR events is to try to prevent the FFR before arising. In order to achieve this, in the most effective manner, FFR events should be determined in the formation process. In this study, fraudulent financial statements are tried to be determined by using financial ratios. For this, financial statements of 22 companies which transact in the textile industry in Istanbul Stock Exchange （ISE） were examined. Twenty-three financial ratios were selected for the purpose of determining the risk of fraudulence in the financial statements of the selected companies. These ratios increased in value by multiple regression analysis. The findings which were obtained in the study indicated that some financial statements had the risk of fraudulence. It was concluded that the ratios of inventory/current asset, total debt ratio, and equity turnover rate were a good indicator in the determination of fraudulent financial statements.

Tourists＇ Awareness and Liking of Outdoor Advertising

Tourism has been a fast growing industry in the world in the past decade. However, research that investigates the effectiveness of outdoor ads targeting to tourists has far lagged behind. This study aims to assess the awareness of outdoor ads and to provide insight into effective advertising that target tourists. Pedestrians intercepted in downtown Hong Kong were surveyed using a questionnaire and quota sampling. They were presented with images of seven outdoor advertisements currently displayed in the neighborhood and their recall and impressions of the ads were surveyed. The survey sampled 465 local residents and tourists aged 15 and above. Among the tourists, the awareness of the seven ads ranged from 19 to 49 percent with an average 30 percent. They displayed more positive perceptions of outdoor advertising than the locals, but had lower awareness. Practical suggestions for outdoor advertisers targeting tourists are proposed.

Electromagnetic(EM)wave absorbers with wideband absorption capability are proposed as a strategy to mitigate environmental pollution by EM ***,designing an EM absorber with its performance capacity independent of the EM wave incident angle remains elusive to *** this challenge requires development of EM absorbers whose EM absorption performance is insensitive to the EM wave incident ***,we synthesized EM absorbers with a variety of structures with different symme-tries(including micro-/nanospheres,nanoflakes and nanotubes)to study the effect of the EM absorbers’structure and the EM wave incident angle on the EM absorption *** analysis reveals that non-magnetic EM absorbers with spatially symmetric nanostructures exhibit excellent EM wave incident ***,we demonstrate that a class of non-magnetic EM absorbers made from bam-boo derived-carbon nanospheres exhibit EM incident angle-insensitivity and wideband EM absorption performance with an effective absorption band up to 3.5 GHz when the thickness is 1.4 mm,a signif-icant improvement from prior studies which used thicknesses as high as 3-4 mm for comparable EM absorption performance.

This article deals with how developed economies, such as those of Japan, South Korea, United States of America （USA）, Russian Federation, China, and the European Union （EU） can threaten world peace. Focusing on economic and social security issues, countries of the world having conflicts will, as a result, invest in military arms, such as nuclear or chemical weapons. How would today＇s economic circumstances, social security systems difficulties, health expenditure levels, and individual pension system realities affect the world in soon time？ Globally, problems were tried to describe with Gestalt understanding from micro level to macro level and attempted to prescribe a solution. How can world economic powers use this challenge as an advantage to create sustainable peace？ May hospital rooms allow people to interact with other world societies, civilization values, cultures through elder people？ As a result beyond of being European centric, Asianism centric, American centric understanding for world peace in the middle of developed economies, Turkic world has rich resources and dynamic population. With Turkey＇s secular understanding, Turkic Healthcare Union （THU） can be a great model for peace. Turkic world, which is located between China and EU, would be a unique and also a sample model in creating sustainable peace. This economic model depends on manufacturing of services and creating prosperity for the whole world, creating funds for ambiguous events in the world, having limited merchants, and making heavier states a bit triggering. By triggering the quality of medical tourism in the world and making dynamic big developed economies, harmless healthcare technologies could be created.

Diabetes mellitus(DM) is a important health problem that induces ernestful complications and it causes significant morbidity owing to specific microvascular complications such as, retinopathy, nephropathy and neuropathy, and macrovascular complications such as, ischaemic heart disease, and peripheral vasculopathy. It can affect children, young people and adults and isbecoming more common. Ocular complications associated with DM are progressive and rapidly becoming the world's most significant cause of morbidity and are preventable with early detection and timely treatment. This review provides an overview of five main ocular complications associated with DM, diabetic retinopathy and papillopathy, cataract, glaucoma, and ocular surface diseases.

Binocular vision disturbance is a well-described complication of glaucoma drainage device(GDD) implantation. The pathophysiology is not well-understood, but may involve bulk effects from the implant and surrounding bleb, as well as modulation of muscle function due to surgical trauma and post-operative inflammation, resulting in a combined resection/posterior fixation effect. Retrospective studies have found the risks of motility disorder and diplopia vary widely, estimated to be 56%-86% and 57%-75%, respectively. More recently, cross-sectional studies and prospective trials estimate post-GDD incidence to be approximately 1%-44%, with the incidence in newer generation of implants designed to limit bleb size likely lower at 1%-5%. Suggested methods of management strategies include prismatic spectacles, monocular occlusion, extreme monovision, and strabismus surgery.

用干扰素对慢性乙型肝炎病毒（HBV）感染患者进行治疗时，观察机体对核心抗原体液免疫反应与疗效关系，从而阐明干扰素作用的免疫机理。结果发现IgM核心抗体的出现预示机体对干扰素治疗的反应。这种IgM核心抗体反应大小的变化以及与治疗的暂时联系，可作为对干扰素诱生核心蛋白的机体免疫状况的标志，但此抗体反应与肝细胞溶解无直接关系。在干扰素治疗时，IgG1、IgG2、IgG3和IgG4等核心抗体亚类无明显变化。无核心抗体反应的患者对干扰素治疗的反应不佳，人类免疫缺陷病毒（HIV）感染的乙型肝炎患者也呈现低核心抗体反应。同样对干扰素治疗反应差。
