River bankline migration is a frequent phenomenon in the river of the floodplain ***,channel dynamics-related changes in land use and land cover(LULC)are becoming a risk to the life and property of people living in the vicinity of rivers.A comprehensive evaluation of the causes and consequences of such changes is essential for better policy and decision-making for disaster risk reduction and *** present study assesses the changes in the Brahmaputra River planform using the GIS-based Digital Shoreline Analysis System(DSAS)and relates it with the changing LULC of the floodplain evaluated using the CA-Markov *** this study,the future channel of the Brahmaputra River and its flood plain’s future LULC were forecasted to pinpoint the erosion-vulnerable ***-eight years(1973–2021)of remotely sensed data were applied to estimate the rate of bankline *** was observed that the river’s erosion-accretion rate was higher in early times than in more recent *** left and right banks’average shifting rates between 1973 and 1988 were -55.44 m/y and -56.79 m/y,respectively,while they were-17.25 m/y and -48.49 m/y from 2011 to *** left bank of the river Brahmaputra had more erosion than the right,which indicates that the river is shifting in the leftward direction(Southward).In this river course,zone A(Lower course)and zone B(Middle course)were more adversely affected than zone C(Upper course).According to the predicted result,the left bank is more susceptible to bank erosion than the right bank(where the average rate of erosion and deposition was -72.23 m/y and 79.50 m/y,respectively).The left bank’s average rate of erosion was -111.22 m/*** research assesses the LULC study in conjunction with river channel dynamics in vulnerable areas where nearby infrastructure and settlements were at risk due to channel *** degree of accu-racy was verified using the actual bankline and predicted bankline,as well as the actual LULC map

Application of Micronutrients in Rice-Wheat Cropping System of South Asia

Rice-wheat cropping system (RWCS) is one of the most important cropping systems in South Asia. However, sustainability of this system is under threat owing to several factors, of which deficiency of micronutrients particularly zinc (Zn), boron (B) and manganese (Mn) is one of the major problems. Continuous rotation of rice and wheat, imbalanced fertilizer use and little/no use of micronutrient-enriched fertilizers induce deficiencies of Zn, B and Mn in the RWCS of South Asia. Here we review that (i) imbalanced fertilizer use and organic matter depletion deteriorate soil structure resulting in low efficiency of applied macro- and micro-nutrients in RWCS.(ii) The micronutrients (Zn, B and Mn) are essentially involved in metabolism of rice and wheat plants, including chlorophyll synthesis, photosynthesis, enzyme activation and membrane integrity.(iii) Availability and uptake of Zn, B and Mn from rhizosphere depend on the physico-chemical soil properties (which differ under aerobic and anaerobic conditions) including soil pH, soil organic matter, soil moisture and interaction of these micronutrients with other nutrients.(iv) Plant ability to uptake and utilize the nutrients is affected by several plant factors such as root architecture, root hairs, transport kinetics parameter and root exudates.(v) Crop management and application of these microelements can help correct the micronutrients deficiency and enhance their grain concentration.

Rare earth-doped spinel nano ferrites are attaining importance as heterogeneous nanocatalysts for the degradation of organic *** earth metal doping increases the electrical and optical properties,as well as the surface-to-volume ratio of the bare *** this work,NiFe_(2)O_(4)(NF) and Nd-NiFe_(2)O_(4)(NF-1) were successfully synthesized via the co-precipitation *** nanotubes(CNT)-based nanocomposite(NF-2) was prepared using the ultra-sonication *** prepared materials were analyzed via various physiochemical *** degradation efficiency of these materials was analyzed for the degradation of Rhodamine B,methylene blue,and benzoic acid,NF-2 shows the highest efficiency among all the prepared ***-2 shows 83.87%,90.80%,and 66.96% degradation of Rhodamine B,methylene blue,and benzoic acid,*** reason for the superior activity of NF-2 is the existence of rare earth Nd ions and *** surface area of NF increases due to the presence of carbon nanotubes and enhanced surface area provides more active sites for the degradation reaction.

Multiscale edge detection of noisy images using wavelets

The classical edge detectors work fine with the high quality pictures, but often are not good enough for noisy images because they cannot distinguish edges of different significance. The paper presented a novel approach to multiscale edge detection for noisy images using wavelet transforms based on Lipschitz regularity coefficients and a cascade algorithm. The relationship between wavelet transform and Lipschitz regularity was established. The proposed wavelet based edge detection algorithm combined the coefficients of wavelet transforms along with a cascade algorithm which significantly improves the result. The comparison between the proposed method and the classical edge detectors was carried out. The algorithm was applied to various images and its performance was discussed. The results of edge detection of contaminated images using the proposed algorithm show that it works better than the classical edge detectors.

The aspiration of this research is to explore the impact of non-similar modeling for mixed convection in magnetized second-grade nanofluid *** flow is initiated by the stretching of a sheet at an exponential rate in the upward vertical *** buoyancy effects in terms of temperature and concentration differences are inserted in the x-momentum *** aspects of heat and mass transfer are studied using dimensionless thermophoresis,Schmidt and Brownian motion *** governing coupled partial differential system(PDEs)is remodeled into coupled non-similar nonlinear PDEs by introducing non-similar *** numerical analysis for the dimensionless non-similar partial differential system is performed using a local non-similarity method via ***,the quantitative effects of emerging dimensionless quantities on the nondimensional velocity,temperature and mass concentration in the boundary layer are conferred graphically,and inferences are drawn that important quantities of interest are substantially affected by these *** is concluded that non-similar modeling,in contrast to similar models,is more general and more accurate in convection studies in the presence of buoyancy effects for second-grade non-Newtonian fluids.

Polysaccharides Based Random and Unidirectional Aerogels for Thermal and Mechanical Stability

Owing to the increasing energy demands and the environmental constraints,the need for bio-based materials has been on the rise due to their variety of favorable properties like biocompatibility,cost-effectiveness,large specific surface area,high porosity,and *** stability and mechanical strength of aerogels are highly dependent on their micro-porous structures.A three-dimensional structure based on cellulose nanofiber/chitosan(CNF/CS)aerogels was built using two different freezing methodologies,namely random freezing,and unidirectional freezing techniques,by changing mold *** unidirectional aerogels ultimately resulted in high-temperature stability and mechanical *** results show that the unidirectional CNF/CS(u-CNF/CS)aerogels contain controlled micro porous orientation relative to random-CNF/CS(r-CNF/CS)aerogels with the disordered porous *** high-temperature stability with an increase of glass transition temperature T_(g) from 275℃(CNF)to 283℃(CNF/CS),the ultra-low thermal conductivity of 0.030 W/(m·K),and mechanical robustness of u-CNF/CS aerogels make them quite favorable for practical applications.

Soil organic carbon(SOC)and nitrogen(N)mineralization are important biogeochemical processes associated with soil *** processes are influenced by physically,chemically,and biologically stabilized SOC fractions,the mechanisms of which are not well *** present study was conducted to evaluate the combined effect of manure and mineral fertilizers on the contents of SOC fractions to promote the mineralization of SOC and *** included:i)no fertilizer control(CK);ii)a combination of mineral N,phosphorus,and potassium fertilizers(NPK);iii)manure alone(M);iv)manure combined with NPK(MNPK);and v)a high dose of manure combined with NPK(hMNPK).The combined uses of manure and mineral fertilizers(MNPK and hMNPK)enhanced the accumulation of the unprotected coarse particulate organic carbon(C)fraction(cPOC)by 44%-72%compared to *** applications(M,MNPK and hMNPK)enhanced physically microaggregate-protected organic C(μagg),physicochemically protected organic C within the microaggregate-derived silt(μsilt)fraction(H-μsilt),and physicobiochemically protected organic C within theμsilt fraction(NH-μsilt)by 30%-56%,62%-150%,and 27%-51%,*** contrast,all chemically and biochemically protected SOC fractions showed a minor response to manure *** of cPOC,μagg,H-μsilt,and physicochemically protected organic C within the microaggregate-derived clay fraction(H-μclay)significantly contributed to the mineralization of SOC and N,resulting in a significant increase in rice grain yield with long-term manure *** summary,long-term combined use of manure and mineral fertilizers improved SOC accumulation in unprotected and physically protected fractions,which enhanced SOC and N mineralization and benefited soil productivity in a rice-wheat cropping system.

Synergistic antioxidant interactions between green tea and Ocimum gratissimum

Objective: To evaluate the antioxidant interactions between aqueous infusions of green tea and Ocimum gratissimum at different ratios. Methods: Antioxidant activities of aqueous infusion of green tea and Ocimum gratissimum (leaves) alone or in combination at various proportions (3:1, 2:1, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3) were determined by DPPH, ABTS, NO and ex-vivo assays including lipid peroxidation and haemolysis. Total phenolic content and flavonoid content was calculated by Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and aluminum chloride colorimetry method, respectively. A correlation study was also conducted between the antioxidant activity and total phenolic/flavonoid content of various infusions. The interactions were analyzed by combination index applying CompuSyn software. Results: Green tea exhibited high radical scavenging ability as compared to Ocimum gratissimum infusion. Combination of green tea and Ocimum gratissimum exhibited moderate antagonism to strong synergistic interaction at various ratios. A strong correlation was found between total phenolic content/total flavonoid content and antioxidant activities of individual infusions (green tea and Ocimum gratissimum). For binary mixture at different ratios, a weak to strong correlation was observed between total phenolic content and antioxidant activity and almost no correlation between total flavonoid content and antioxidant potential. Conclusions: Overall, green tea and Ocimum gratissimum combination (1:1) displayed the highest antioxidant potential and maximum synergism.
