The recent identification of a neurodevelopmental disorder with cerebellar atrophy and motor dysfunction(NEDCAM)has resulted in an increased interest in GEMIN5,a multifunction RNA-binding protein.As the largest member of the survival motor neuron complex,GEMIN5 plays a key role in the biogenesis of small nuclear ribonucleoproteins while also exhibiting translational regulatory functions as an independent protein.Although many questions remain regarding both the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of this new disorder,considerable progress has been made in the brief time since its discovery.In this review,we examine GEMIN5 within the context of NEDCAM,focusing on the structure,function,and expression of the protein specifically in regard to the disorder itself.Additionally,we explore the current animal models of NEDCAM,as well as potential molecular pathways for treatment and future directions of study.This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advances in our understanding of this unique member of the survival motor neuron complex.

Well productivity in the Asmari carbonate formation of southwest Iran has decreased in recent years as a result of production issues.The production rate must be maintained below 1500 STB/day to prevent water coning.In this study,a gas lift well is modeled using data from one of the producing wells of this field.Nodal analysis is performed using lift-gas injection rates and wellhead pressures at different reservoir pressures and water cut conditions to optimize production.Economic aspects are considered to optimize the artificial gas injection rates at different tubing head pressures and water cut conditions.Increasing the lift-gas injection rate from 0.4 MMscf/day to 1 MMscf/day enhances the oil production rate by 37.71%and 43.89%for 10%and 30%water cut conditions,respectively.Gas injection rates of 5.2 MMscf/day and 5.4 MMscf/day are determined to be economically optimal for 30%water cut with tubing head pressures of 260 psig and 270 psig,respectively.

Two-Stent Strategy for Bifurcation Lesions in Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty: Real-World Evidence

Background: Bifurcation lesions pose a high risk for adverse events after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Evidence supporting the benefits of the two-stent strategy (2SS) for treating coronary bifurcation lesions in India is limited. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical outcomes of various 2SSs for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty for bifurcation lesions in India. Materials and Methods: This retrospective, observational, multicentric, real-world study included 64 patients over 8 years. Data on demographics, medical history, PCI procedures, and outcomes were recorded. Descriptive statistics were computed using the SPSS software. Results: Patients (n = 64) had an average age of 65.3 ± 11.1 years, with 78.1% males. Acute coronary syndrome was reported in 18.8%, chronic stable angina in 40.6%, and unstable angina in 34.4% of participants. Two-vessel disease was observed in 98.4% of patients, and 99.4% had true bifurcation lesions. The commonly involved vessels were the left anterior descending artery (50%), left circumflex coronary artery (34.4%), and first diagonal artery (43.8%). Mean percent diameter stenosis was 87.2% ± 10.1%. The mean number of stents used was 2.00 ± 0.34. The 2SS techniques included the T and small protrusion (TAP) (39.1%), double kissing (DK) crush (18.8%), and the culotte techniques (14.1%). Procedural and angiographic success rate was 92.18%. Major adverse cardiovascular events at 1-year follow-up occurred in 7.8% of cases. Conclusion: The 2SS for bifurcation lesions showed favorable in-hospital and follow-up outcomes. Findings can serve as a resource for bifurcation angioplasty in India. Larger real-world studies with robust methodology are needed to validate these results.

In the present study,the spatial-temporal distribution of b-value along the five faults area(the Judi fault,Thaple fault,Kathmandu fault,Motihari-Gauri shanker fault,and Motihari-Everest fault)was investigated after the Gorkha earthquake(M7.8).The earthquake catalog of 10,500 events was prepared by compiling the published catalogs.The study area is bounded in the central Himalaya from 26.5°to 29°in latitude direction and 84°to 87°in longitude direction.The frequency magnitude distribution shows the variation of the b-value along with fault areas from 0.45 to 0.69,indicating a common characteristic of aftershock sequences.In particular,the Judi fault area,Thaple fault area,and Motihari-Everest fault area are characterized by the low b-values of 0.45±0.02,0.48±0.02,and 0.55±0.04,respectively.These regions could be the source region for future earthquakes.The low b-value observed for fault areas are also consistent with the thrust faulting pattern in the region as indicated by the focal mechanism of mainshock and major aftershocks.The temporal variation of b-value shows inevitable fluctuations during25 April to 12 May 2015.Among the area selected,the Motihari-Everest fault area is in critical strain(mechanically locked)conditions,as indicated by the stepwise energy release pattern.

The current pandemic highlights the significance and impact of air pollution on individuals. When it comes to climate sustainability, air pollution is amajor challenge. Because of the distinctive nature, unpredictability, and greatchangeability in the reality of toxins and particulates, detecting air quality is apuzzling task. Simultaneously, the ability to predict or classify and monitor airquality is becoming increasingly important, particularly in urban areas, due tothe well documented negative impact of air pollution on resident’s health andthe environment. To better comprehend the current condition of air quality, thisresearch proposes predicting air pollution levels from real-time data. This studyproposes the use of deep learning techniques to forecast air pollution levels.Layers, activation functions, and a number of epochs were used to create the suggested Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network based neural layer design. Theuse of proposed Deep Learning as a structure for high-accuracy air quality prediction is investigated in this research and obtained better accuracy of nearly 82% compared to earlier records. Determining the Air Quality Index (AQI) and danger levelswould assist the government in finding appropriate ways to authorize approaches toreduce pollutants and keep inhabitants informed about the findings.

Structural health monitoring(SHM)is a process for determination of presence,location,severity of damages and remaining life of the infrastructures.SHM is widely applied in aerospace,mechanical and civil engineering sys-tems to assess the conditions of structures to improve the operation,safety,serviceability and reliability,respec-tively.There are various SHM techniques for monitoring the health of structures such as global response based and local techniques.Damages occur in the structures due to its inability to withstand intended design loadings,physical environment and chemical environment.Therefore,damage identification is necessary to improve the durability of the structures for protection against catastrophic failure.The research paper is focused on elec-tro-mechanical impedance(EMI)technique which is one of the techniques based on smart materials.The smart materials are utilized for monitoring the health of the structures.These are used for damage determination and its quantification for the interrogated structures.Variation in admittance or impedance signature shows the existence of damage in the structures.Furthermore,the different statistical methods viz.,root mean square deviation(RMSD),mean absolute percentage deviation(MAPD),covariance(Cov),and correlation coefficient(CC)are used for the quantification of damage.Smart material such as piezoelectric materials,its properties and applica-tions are also considered.In this paper,the implementation of EMI technique based on different recent advances in smart materials and their appropriateness have been described.Subsequently,the reviewed investigations are significant for the monitoring of real-life infrastructures.The presented paper is the compact state-of-the-art for EMI technique which is used for SHM.This examination will be valuable to infrastructural health monitoring and engineering applications in respect to innovative research directions.

Nowadays,smartphones are used as self-health monitoring devices for humans.Self-health monitoring devices help clinicians with big data for accurate diagnosis and guidance for treatment through repetitive measurement.Repetitive measurement of haemoglobin requires for pregnant women,pediatric,pulmonary hypertension and obstetric patients.Noninvasive haemoglobin measurement through conjunctiva leads to inaccurate measurement.The inaccuracy is due to a decrease in the density of goblet cells and acinar units in Meibomian glands in the human eye as age increases.Furthermore,conjunctivitis is a disease in the eye due to inﬂammation or infection at the conjunctiva.Conjunctivitis is in the form of lines in the eyelid and covers the white part of the eyeball.Moreover,small blood vessels in eye regions of conjunctiva inﬂammations are not visible to the human eye or standard camera.This paper proposes smartphone-based hae-moglobin(SBH)measurement through a borescope camera from anterior ciliary arteries of the eye for the above problem.The proposed SBH method acquires images from the anterior ciliary arteries region of the eye through a smartphone attached with a high megapixel borescope camera.The anterior ciliary arteries are projected through transverse dyadic wavelet transform(TDyWT)and applied with delta segmentation to obtain blood cells from the ciliary arteries of the eye.Furthermore,the Gaussian regression algorithm measures haemoglobin(Hb)with more accuracy based on the person,eye arteries,red pixel statistical parameters obtained from the left and right eye,age,and weight.Furthermore,the experimen-tal result of the proposed SBH method has an accuracy of 96%in haemoglobin measurement.
