A novel hole-transport material(HTM)based on an anthradithiophene central bridge named BTPA-7 is *** comparison to spiro-OMeTAD(2,2’,7,7’-tetrakis-(N,N-di-p-methoxyphenylamine)-9,9’-spirobifluorene),the synthetic steps of BTPA-7 are greatly reduced from 6 to 3 and the synthetic cost of BTPA-7 is nearly a half that of ***,BTPA-7 exhibits a relatively lower conductivity but higher hole mobility and higher glass transition temperature(Tg)than *** with the photovolatic performance for spiro-OMeTAD,FA0.85MA0.15PbI3 and MAPbI3 PSC devices based on BTPA-7 exhibit slightly lower PCEs with the values of 17.58%(18.88%for spiro-OMeTAD)and 11.90%(13.25%for spiro-OMeTAD),***,a dramatically higher JSC of PSC based on BTPA-7is achieved,which arises from the higher hole mobility of *** addition,the relatively hydrophobic character of BTPA-7 eventually enhances the PSC device *** cost,higher hole mobility,higher Tg,satisfactory photovoltaic performance,and superior device stability of BTPA-7 can be utilized as a substitute for spiro-OMeTAD in PSCs.

Hepatobiliary pancreatic surgeons sometimes encounter an aberrant(or replaced)right hepatic artery(a-RHA,Hiatt types III-VI)during pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD).Arterial flow cutoff to the a-RHA may be associated with a biliary leak or stenosis at the choledocho-jejunostomy and liver ischemia,resulting in ischemic cholangitis,liver abscess,and sepsis(1).

Efficacy of mycofenolate mofetil for steroid-resistant acute rejection after living donor liver transplantation

AIM： To discuss the use of mycophenolate mofetil （MMF） as an immunosuppressant in steroid resistant rejection after liver transplantation. METHODS： The clinical records of 260 adult patients who underwent living donor liver transplantation （LDLT） were reviewed. Tacrolimus and methylprednisolone were used for primary immunosuppression. Acute rejection was first treated with steroids. When steroid resistance occurred, the patient was treated with a combination of steroids and MMF. Anti-T-cell monoclonal antibody was administered to patients who were not responsive to steroids in combination with MMF.RESULTS： A total of 90 （35%） patients developed acute rejection. The median interval time from transplantation to the first episode was 15 d. Fifty-four patients were steroid resistant. Forty-four patients were treated with MMF and the remaining 10 required anti-T-cell monoclonal antibody treatment. Progression to chronic rejection was observed in one patient. Bone marrow suppression and gastrointestinal symptoms were the most common side effects associated with MMF use. There was no significant increase in opportunistic infections. CONCLUSION： Our results demonstrate that MMF is a potent and safe immunosuppressive agent for rescue therapy in patients with acute rejection after LDLT.

Low preoperative platelet counts predict a high mortality after partial hepatectomy in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

AIM： To assess the validity of our selection criteria for hepatectomy procedures based on indocyanine green disappearance rate （KICG）, and to unveil the factors affecting posthepatectomy mortality in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）. METHODS： A retrospective analysis of 198 consecutive patients with HCC who underwent partial hepatectomies in the past 14 years was conducted. The selection criteria for hepatectomy procedures during the study period were KICG≥0.12 for hemihepatectomy, KICG≥0.10 for bisegmentectomy, KCG≥0.08 for monosegmentectomy, and KICG≥ 0.06 for nonanatomic hepatectomy. The hepatectomies were categorized into three types： major hepatectomy （hemihepatectomy or a more extensive procedure）, bisegmentectomy, and limited hepatectomy. Univariate （Fishers exact test） and multivariate （the logistic regression model） analyses were used. RESULTS： Postoperative mortality was 5% after major hepatectomy, 3% after bisegmentectomy, and 3% after limited hepatectomy. The bhree percentages were comparable （P = 0.876）. The platelet count of ≤ 10× 10^4/μL was the strongest independent factor for postoperative mortality on univariate （P = 0.001） and multivariate （risk ratio, 12.5; P= 0.029） analyses. No patient with a platelet count of 〉7.3× 10^4/μL died of postoperative morbidity, whereas 25% （6/24 patients） of patients with a platelet count of ≤7.3×10^4/μL died （P〈0.001）. CONCLUSION： The selection criteria for hepatectomy procedures based on KICG are generally considered valid, because of the acceptable morbidity and mortality with these criteria. The preoperative platelet count independently affects morbidity and mortality after hepatectomy, suggesting that a combination of KICG and platelet count would further reduce postoperative mortality.

Thermosensitive Particles with Unusual Morphology Prepared by Dispersion Copolymerization

The monodispersed polymeric particles with an unusual structure were prepared by the dispersion copolymerization of acrylonitrile/styrene（AN/St） in mixed solvents of ethanol/water by using the poly（N-isopropylacrylamide）（PNIPAAm） macromonomer as a reaction stabilizer. It was found that the AN monomer plays a key role in the formation of the particles with special morphology analyzed via scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. The reaction parameters have remarkable influences on the particle size and morphology. The particles possess a thermosensitive property according to the result of laser light scattering（LLS）.

Degradation of dibromophenols by UV irradiation

We examined the degradation of dibromophenols （DBPs）, i.e. 2,4-DBP, 2,6-DBP and 3,5-DBP by ultraviolet （UV） irradiation and estimated the relationship between degradability and molecular orbital properties of each dibromopbenol. The removal of DBPs under a UV lamp system was successfully performed in an aqueous solution. After 5 min of irradiation, the initial DBPs concentration of 20 mg/L was decreased to below 1 mg/L, and about 60% of bromide ion was released. A decrease in the concentration of dissolved organic carbon （DOC） suggested the mineralization of DBPs, The mineralization may occur after release of bromide ions because the decrease of DOC was slower than the release of bromide ions. The degradability of 3,5-DBP was slightly lower than 2,6-DBP and 2,4-DBE Molecular orbital calculation suggested that the electrophilic frontier density and the highest occupied molecular orbital （HOMO） energy may be related to the degradability of DBPs.

Sea urchin coelomocyte arylsulfatase: a modulator of the echinoderm clotting pathway

Sea urchin petaloid coelomocytes efectuate the coting pathway by undergoing a rapid and dymamic cellular transfomation that leads to cellular adhesion and wounds *** have identified high levels of activity of aylsulfatase(Ars)associated with coelomocytes of the sea urchin ytechimu varieganus (Lamarck,1816).Ars activity was extracted from clotted coelomocytes with EDTA and showed high levels of activity up to a 1:100 dilution Clot fomation from isolated coelomic fuid was significantly inhbited by the ARS inhibitor,p-nito-phenyl *** activity was collected by 80%ethanol precipitation,a diagnostic test previously used in Ars isolation Cellular extraction studies in the presence and absence of the non-ionic detergent Tniton X-100 indicated that some Ars activity was present *** in intacellular membrame-bound compart-ments,however the majonity of Ars activity was extracted from the extracellular coelomocyte ***-clonal anti-sea urchin embryo Ars antibodies recognized a single protein band with an approximate molecular weight of 75 kDa on westem *** using the anti-sea urchin Ars antibody revealed an in-tacellular and extacelular staining of Ars in both petalloid and filopodial *** together,these data indicate that coelomocyte Ars might be involved in cell-to-cell croslinking of suface sulfated polysaccha-nides vital for clot fomation.

Oncological results, functional outcomes and health-related quality-of-life in men who received a radical prostatectomy or external beam radiation therapy for localized prostate cancer： a study on long-term patient outcome with risk stratification

Health-related quality-of-life （HRQOL） after a radical prostatectomy （RP） or extemal beam radiation therapy （EBRT） has not been studied in conjunction with oncological outcomes in relation to disease risk stratification. Moreover, the long-term outcomes of these treatment approaches have not been studied. We retrospectively analyzed oncological outcomes between consecutive patients receiving RP （n = 86） and EBRT （n = 76） for localized prostate cancer. HRQOL and functional outcomes could be assessed in 62 RP （79%） and 54 EBRT （79%） patients over a 3-year follow-up period （median： 41 months） using the Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-36 （SF-36） and the University of Califomia Los Angeles Prostate Cancer Index （UCLA PCI）. The 5-year biochemical progression-free survival did not differ between the RP and EBRT groups for low-risk （74.6% vs. 75.0%, P = 0.931） and intermediate-risk （61.3% vs. 71.1%, P = 0.691） patients. For high-risk patients, progression-free survival was lower in the RP group （45.1%） than in the EBRT group （79.7%）（P = 0.002）. The general HRQOL was comparable between the two groups. Regarding functional outcomes, the RP group reported lower scores on urinary function and less urinary bother and sexual bother than the EBRT group （P 〈 0.001, P 〈 0.05 and P 〈 0.001, respectively）. With risk stratification, the low- and intermediate-risk patients in the RP group reported poorer urinary function than patients in the EBRT group （P 〈 0.001 for each）. The sexual function of the high-risk patients in the EBRT group was better than that of the same risk RP patients （P 〈 0.001）. Biochemical recurrence was not associated with the UCLA PCI score in either group. In conclusion, low- to intermediate-risk patients treated with an RP may report relatively decreased urinary function during long-term follow-up. The patient＇s HRQOL after treatment did not depend on biochemical recurrence.

New acoustic system for continuous measurement of river discharge and water temperature

In many cases, river discharge is indirectly estimated from water level or streamflow velocity near the water surface. However, these methods have limited applicability. In this study, an innovative system, the fluvial acoustic tomography system （FATS）, was used for continuous discharge measurement. Transducers with a central frequency of 30 kHz were installed diagonally across the river. The system＇s significant functions include accurate measurement of the travel time of the transmission signal using a GPS clock and the attainment of a high signal-to-noise ratio as a result of modulation of the signal by the 10th order M-sequence. In addition, FATS is small and lightweight, and its power consumption is low. Operating in unsteady streamflow, FATS successfully measured the cross-sectional average velocity. The agreement between FATS and acoustic Doppler current profilers （ADCPs） on water discharge was satisfactory. Moreover, the temporal variation of the cross-sectional average temperature deduced from the sound speed of FATS was similar to that measured by a temperature sensor near the bank.

Background:Nephrotic syndrome is the most common cause of kidney disease in children,but its pathogenesis remains *** article reviews the novel aspects of the mechanisms underlying massive proteinuria in minimal-change disease,which is the most common form of childhood nephrotic *** sources:This article integrates the findings of a PubMed database search for English language articles published in the past 40 years(from September 1974 to February 2014)using the key words"pathogenesis","minimal change nephrotic syndrome"or"idiopathic ne phrotic syndrome".Results:Unknown humoral factors associated with T-cell dysfunction have been thought to play an important role in the pathogenesis of minimal-change ***,recent findings are changing this paradigm,i.e,visceral glomerular epithelial cells(podocytes)may be involved via expression of molecules such as CD80 and angiopoietin-like ***:Recent evidence suggests that minimal-change disease results from interactions between humoral factors and dysfunctional *** addition to immunosuppressant drugs that target lymphocytes,a biological agent such as an antibody against the abnormal molecule(S)expressed by podocytes may provide novel drug treatment for minimal-change disease.
