In macrophages, the accumulation of cholesteryl esters synthesized by the activated acyl-coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase-1 (ACAT1) results in the foam cell formation, a hallmark of early atherosclerotic lesions. In this study, with the treatment of a glucocorticoid hormone dexamethasone (Dex), lipid staining results clearly showed the large accumulation of lipid droplets containing cholesteryl esters in THP-1-derived macrophages exposed to lower concentration of the oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL). More notably, when treated together with specific anti-ACAT inhibitors, the abundant cholesteryl ester accumulation was markedly diminished in THP-1-derived macrophages, confirming that ACAT is the key enzyme responsible for intracellular cholesteryl ester synthesis. RT-PCR and Western blot results indicated that Dex caused up-regulation of human ACAT1 expression at both the mRNA and protein levels in THP-1 and THP-1-derived macrophages. Photovoltaic（PV）industry has been enjoying great growth over the past few years, mostly driven by high oil price and environmental concerns.However,PV cost remains to be the greatest barrier for further expansion,and it needs to come down further to compete with traditional coal based grid electricity.Besides solar panels, the electronic components such as PV inverters are the major cost components.For safety and operational concerns,grid-tied PV converters need to have harvested DC be isolated from AC grid.Isolation is usually required to satisfy safety regulation to prevent DC injection into the AC grid that may impact distribution transformers and traditional watt-hour meters.Traditional isolation solution such as opto-couplers can’t satisfy the 25 year warranty typical for PV panels.Micro-inverters also become the trend where the system availability is improved and performance under shading condition is also dramatically improved.In those cases,the PV inverter is installed at the back of the PV panel where the high temperature there can accelerate the degradation of the opto-couplers.This paper discusses the signal and power isolation needs in PV inverters,and how integration of isolation functions using micro- transformers can improve the system performance and reliability,reduce the system size and cost.

3D point data acquired from laser scan or stereo vision can be quite noisy.A preprocessing step is often needed before a surface reconstruction algorithm can be applied.In this paper,we propose a nonparametric approach for noisy point data preprocessing.In particular,we proposed an anisotropic kernel based nonparametric density estimation method for outlier removal,and a hill-climbing line search approach for projecting data points onto the real surface boundary.Our approach is simple,robust and efficient.We demonstrate our method on both real and synthetic point datasets.
