Epithelial restitution and wound healing in inflammatory bowel disease

Inflammatory bowel disease is characterized by a chronic inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. The mucosal epithelium of the alimentary tract constitutes a key element of the mucosal barrier to a broad spectrum of deleterious substances present within the intestinal lumen including bacterial microorganisms, various dietary factors, gastrointestinal secretory products and drugs. In addition, this mucosal barrier can be disturbed in the course of various intestinal disorders including inflammatory bowel diseases. Fortunately, the integrity of the gastrointestinal surface epithelium is rapidly reestablished even after extensive destruction. Rapid resealing of the epithelial barrier following injuries is accomplished by a process termed epithelial restitution, followed by more delayed mechanisms of epithelial wound healing including increased epithelial cell proliferation and epithelial cell differentiation. Restitution of the intestinal surface epithelium is modulated by a range of highly divergent factors among them a broad spectrum of structurally distinct regulatory peptides, variously described as growth factors or cytokines. Several regulatory peptide factors act from the basolateral site of the epithelial surface and enhance epithelial cell restitution through TGF-13-dependent pathways. In contrast, members of the trefoil factor family （TFF peptides） appear to stimulate epithelial restitution in conjunction with mucin glycoproteins through a TGF-13-independent mechanism from the apical site of the intestinal epithelium. In addition, a number of other peptide molecules like extracellular matrix factors and blood clotting factors and also non- peptide molecules including phospholipids~ short-chain fatty acids （SCFA）, adenine nucleotides, trace elements and pharmacological agents modulate intestinal epithelial repair mechanisms. Repeated damage and injury of the intestinal surface are key features of various intestinal disorders including inflammatory bowel disease

Generalized Weighted Morrey Estimates for Marcinkiewicz Integrals with Rough Kernel Associated with Schrodinger Operator and Their Commutators

Let L =-△+V(x) be a Schrodinger operator, where △ is the Laplacian on R^n,while nonnegative potential V(x) belonging to the reverse Holder class. The aim of this paper is to give generalized weighted Morrey estimates for the boundedness of Marcinkiewicz integrals with rough kernel associated with Schrodinger operator and their ***, the boundedness of the commutator operators formed by BMO functions and Marcinkiewicz integrals with rough kernel associated with Schrodinger operators is discussed on the generalized weighted Morrey spaces. As its special cases, the corresponding results of Marcinkiewicz integrals with rough kernel associated with Schrodinger operator and their commutators have been deduced, respectively. Also, Marcinkiewicz integral operators, rough Hardy-Littlewood(H-L for short) maximal operators, Bochner-Riesz means and parametric Marcinkiewicz integral operators which satisfy the conditions of our main results can be considered as some examples.

Sandy grassland blowouts in Hulunbuir, northeast China: geomorphology, distribution, and causes

A sandy grassland blowout consists of an aeolian depression formed in top soil and the underlying sand deposit underlie, and the adjoining redeposit of sand derived from the depression. Research based on field survey and topographic mapping combined with aerophotograph interpretation reveals that: (1) All the three sand land tracts in Hulunbuir Grasslands are composed of blowout depressions and adjoining dunes, with interlaying remnants of sandy grasslands as background; (2) blowout depressions and their adjoining dunes can be classified according to their morphometric characteristics, development stages, and initiating factors; (3) blowouts develop mostly in the upper parts of sidelong aweather and sunward slopes inclining southwestward when west wind prevails; (4) initiation of blowouts is closely related with the coupling of extreme droughts and wide spread intense human disturbance to the fragile topsoil layer. The investigations indicate that key factors to prevent desertification are to protect grassland vegetation and topsoil.

Study of K^(*)(892)^(0)andФ(1020)meson production in proton–proton and Pb–Pb collisions at√S_(NN)=2.76 TeV

In this paper,we describe a study of charged particle yield as a function of pT for K^(*)(892)0 and phgr(1020)mesons in proton–proton(pp)and Pb–Pb collisions at√S_(NN)=2.76 TeV in the central rapidity region of|y|uclear modification factor,to study the effects of the medium in the most central region,i.e.0%–5%*** data simulation,we used the EPOS-LHC and EPOS-1.99 *** check the validity of these models'simulations,we compared the data obtained from these Monte Carlo simulation programs with ALICE experimental data for√S_(NN)=2.76 *** was concluded that the models'predictions for the phgr-meson in pp and for the most central Pb-Pb collisions disagreed with the ALICE data,and that the difference increased with *** may be connected with the essential role of collective parton behaviors which could not have been taken into account by the *** K^(*)0 mesons,both programs gave almost the same predictions,and with pT in the interval pT>3 GeV c^(−1),the predictions were very close to the experimental *** models gave higher predictions for the soft pT interval and lower predictions for the hard *** values of the RAA distributions were lower than unity and both models were very close to the ALICE *** is very interesting that the models were not able to describe the pT distributions,but they gave good predictions for their *** may possibly be due to parton collective *** observed some additional suppression of K^(*)0 at low values of pT with respect to phgr-mesons,which may be related to the role of the masses of the particles in soft *** rising trend for R_(AA)in the region from pT=10 GeV c^(−1)to 20 GeV c^(−1) observed by the ALICE experiment was absent for theФ-mesons.

Software testing plays a pivotal role in entire software development *** provides researchers with extensive opportunities to develop novel methods for the optimized and cost-effective test suite Although implementation of such a cost-effective test suite with regression testing is being under exploration still it contains lot of challenges and flaws while incorporating with any of the new regression testing algorithm due to irrelevant test cases in the test suite which are not *** kinds of irrelevant test cases might create certain challenges such as code-coverage in the test suite,fault-tolerance,defects due to uncovered-statements and overall-performance at the time of *** this objective,the proposed a new Modified Particle Swarm optimization used for multi-objective test suite *** experiment results involving six subject programs show that MOMPSO method can outer perform with respect to both reduction rate(90.78%to 100%)and failure detection rate(44.56%to 55.01%).Results proved MOMPSO outperformed the other stated algorithms.

Recently,a building-based air quality model system which can predict air quality in front of individual buildings along both sides of a road has been *** the Macao Peninsula as a case study,this paper shows the advantages of building-based model system in data capture and data *** with the traditional grid-based model systems with input/output spatial resolutions of 1-2 km,the building-based approach can extract the street configuration and traffic data building by building and therefore,can capture the complex spatial variation of traffic emission,urban geometry,and air *** non-homogeneous distribution of air pollution in the Macao Peninsula was modeled in a highspatial resolution of 319 receptors·km^(-2).The spatial relationship among air quality,traffic flow,and urban geometry in the historic urban area is *** study shows that the building-based approach may open an innovative methodology in data mining of urban spatial data for environmental *** results are particularly useful to urban planners when they need to consider the influences of urban form on street environment.

Semi-solid rheocasting of grain refined aluminum alloy 7075

Near-net shape rheocasting with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research Rheo casting system(CSIR-RCS) and a high pressure die casting machine was successfully performed on Al-5Ti-1B grain refined aluminum alloy *** refinement levels used were 0.03% Ti,0.13% Ti and 0.29% Ti(mass fraction).Tensile tests reveal that the ultimate tensile strengths,at all levels of grain refinement,are at least 97% of the specified *** at fracture increases with the increase of level of grain refinement although a maximum elongation is only 76% of the required minimum elongation in the case of 0.29% *** melting,during solution treatment,of the low melting point multinary eutectic causes porosity in the material and accounts for poor elongation results.0.03% Ti has a coarse eutectic structure forming larger pores while 0.29% Ti has a fine structure forming fine pores in the multinary *** 0.2% offset yield strengths of all the grain refinement levels are at least equal to or above the specified minimum and a decrease is observed with the increase of grain refinement *** is a clear reduction in grain size from 0.03% Ti to 0.29% Ti in the as-cast *** underlying grain structure develops in the T6 condition material which has an inverse size to the as-cast structure;coarse grained as-cast material results in fine grained T6 condition material after solution heat *** decrease in the offset yield strength as grain refinement increases correlates very strongly with the T6 grain sizes according to a Hall-Petch type relationship.

Simultaneous imaging and measurement of tensile stress on cornea by using a common-path optical coherence tomography system with an external contact reference

The objective of this study is to demonstrate that tensile stress resulting due to applied force on cornea can be accurately measured by using a time-domain common-path optical coherence tomography （OCT） system with an external contact reference. The unique design of the common-path OCT is utilized to set up an imaging system in which a chicken eye is placed adjacent to a glass plate serving as the external reference plane for the imaging system. As the force is applied to the chicken eye, it presses against the reference glass plate. The modified OCT image obtained is used to calculate the size of contact area, which is then used to derive the tensile stress on the cornea. The drop in signal levels upon contact of reference glass plate with the tissue are extremely sharp because of the sharp decline in reference power levels itself, thus providing us with an accurate measurement of contact area. The experimental results were in good agreement with the numerical predictions. The results of this study might be useful in providing new insights and ideas to improve the precision and safety of currently used ophthalmic surgical techniques. This research outlines a method which could be used to provide high resolution OCT images and a precise feedback of the forces applied to the cornea simultaneously.

Alkali activated slag-fly ash concrete incorporating precious slag as fine aggregate for rigid pavements

This study aims to develop the alkali activated slag-fly ash concrete(AASFC) using precious slag(PS) ball as the fine aggregate. The slag-fly ash proportion, sodium silicate/sodium hydroxide(SS/SH) ratio and sodium hydroxide concentration are the prime variables. The fresh concrete properties like workability, setting time and the hardened concrete properties of AASFC developed under ambient curing were analyzed and similar way by replacing with fly ash(FA). The sodium hydroxide concentration of 8 M, 10 M and 12 M, SS/SH ratio of 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0, alkaline liquid to binder ratio of 0.35 and variation in slag-fly ash proportion as major inputs for mix design. The test results showed that, the fresh state of AASFC blend has a shorter setting time of 12-16 min, because of calcium mineral from the FA, the workability and setting time of AASFC mix was enhanced by the addition of the trisodium phosphate as a retarder. At the higher SS/SH extent, the workability and setting time exaggerated, whereas the increased FA content and sodium hydroxide concentration had a greater influence on the fresh state of concrete. Also, the sodium hydroxide concentration, SS/SH ratio and slag-fly ash proportion are the most inducing parameters on the workability, setting time and strength parameters of AASFC.
