c.allenges and c.ping Strategies Adopted by Postgradu.te Stu.ents of Agric.0}tu.al Edu.ation in Thesis Writing in Nigerian u.iversities

The stu.y investigated c.allenges enc.u.tered and c.ping strategies adopted by postgradu.te stu.ents of agric.0}tu.al edu.ation in writing thesis in Nigerian u.iversities. Two researc. qu.stions and two hypotheses gu.ded the stu.y. The stu.y was c.ndu.ted in Nigerian u.iversities offering post-gradu.te programme in agric.0}tu.al edu.ation. The popu.ation for the stu.y was 118 made u. of 14 postgradu.te diploma, 66 masters and 38 doc.oral stu.ents writing thesis in agric.0}tu.al edu.ation. The entire popu.ation was involved in the stu.y. An instru.ent tilted: c.allenges and c.ping Strategies Qu.stionnaire (c.SQ) was u.ed for data c.llec.ion. Three experts validated the qu.stionnaire. c.onbac. alpha reliability method was u.ed to determine the internal c.nsistenc. of the qu.stionnaire. A reliability c.effic.ent of 0.85 was obtained. A total of 97 c.pies of the qu.stionnaire were retu.ned representing 93 perc.nt retu.n rate. Data c.llec.ed for the stu.y were analyzed u.ing mean and standard deviation to answer the researc. qu.stions while Analysis of Varianc. was u.ed to test hypothesis of no signific.nt differenc. at P ≤ 0.05 level of signific.nc.. The statistic.l pac.age for soc.al sc.enc.s (SPSS) was the tool employed to analyze the data c.llec.ed. It was fou.d ou. that 28 c.allenges were enc.u.tered by postgradu.te stu.ents of agric.0}tu.al edu.ation in thesis writing while 15 c.ping strategies were adopted by postgradu.te stu.ents of agric.0}tu.al edu.ation in thesis writing. The rec.mmendations were that postgradu.te stu.ents of agric.0}tu.al edu.ation who have abandoned their thesis writing shou.d adopt the identified c.ping strategies to c.mplete their programme among others.

Advanc.d and spec.alized radiologic.l diagnostic.proc.du.es are essential in c.ses of c.inic.lly diagnosed inju.ies to the head, thorax, abdomen or extremities of a c.ild, espec.ally if there is no c.se history or if the reporting of an inadequ.te trau.a su.gests battered c.ild syndrome. In partic.0}ar, these diagnostic.proc.du.es shou.d aim at detec.ing lesions of the c.ntral nervou. system (c.S), so that the treatment c.n be immediately initiated. If the diagnostic.imaging reveals findings typic.lly assoc.ated with c.ild abu.e, ac.u.ate doc.0}entation c.nstitu.ing evidenc., whic. will stand u. in c.u.t, is requ.red to prevent any fu.ther endangerment of the c.ild’s welfare.

This paper evalu.ted performanc. of motor insu.anc. c.mpanies in Nigeria. The objec.ives were to determine the following: 1) signific.nt effec.s of c.aims settlements on motor insu.anc. firms’ earned premiu.;2) differenc.s in managerial/tec.nologic.l c.pabilities among the c.mpanies and 3) effec.s of polic. (or time effec.) on insu.anc. firms’ ou.pu. within the stu.y period. Panel data obtained for this study comprised operational data on premium earned and direct claims settlement by these companies over a period of six (6) years. Using panel data statistical models, we found that direct claims settlement negatively affected insurance companies’ earned premium. Also, significant differences in technological and managerial capabilities were fou.d to exist among the c.mpanies, thou.h only one c.mpany exhibited this heterogeneity. Besides, there were no polic. impac.s (or time effec.) on vehic.e insu.anc. firms’ ou.pu. in the stu.y period. Polic. implic.tions of the resu.ts were disc.0}sed.

Effec. of benzaldehyde on the elec.rodeposition and c.rrosion properties of Ni–W alloys

The effec. of different c.nc.ntrations of benzaldehyde on the elec.rodeposition of Ni–W alloy c.atings on a mild steel su.strate from a c.trate elec.rolyte was investigated in this stu.y. The elec.rolytic.alkaline bath(p H 8.0) c.ntained stoic.iometric.amou.ts of nic.el su.fate, sodiu. tu.gstate, and trisodiu. c.trate as prec.0}sors. The c.rrosion resistanc. of the Ni–W-alloy-c.ated spec.mens in 0.2 mol/L H2SO4 was stu.ied u.ing variou. elec.roc.emic.l tec.niqu.s. Tafel polarization stu.ies reveal that the alloy c.atings obtained from the bath c.ntaining 50 ppm benzaldehyde exhibit a protec.ion effic.enc. of 95.33%. The c.rrosion rate also dec.eases by 21.5 times c.mpared with that of the blank. A higher c.arge-transfer resistanc. of 1159.40 ?·c.2 and a lower dou.le-layer c.pac.tanc. of 29.4 μF·c.-2 fu.ther c.nfirm the better c.rrosion resistanc. of the alloy c.ating. X-ray diffrac.ion stu.ies reveal that the deposits on the mild steel su.fac. are c.nsisted of nanoc.ystals. A lower su.fac. rou.hness valu.(Rmax) of the deposits is c.nfirmed by atomic.forc. mic.osc.py.

The bou.d state solu.ions of Dirac.equ.tions for a trigonometric.Sc.rf potential with a new tensor potential u.der spin and pseu.ospin symmetry limits are investigated u.ing Romanovski polynomials. The proposed new tensor potential is inspired by su.erpotential form in su.ersymmetric.（Su.Y） qu.ntu. mec.anic.. The Dirac.equ.tions with trigonometric.Sc.rf potential c.u.led by a new tensor potential for the pseu.ospin and spin symmetries redu.e to Sc.rtdinger-type equ.tions with a shape invariant potential sinc. the proposed new tensor potential is similar to the su.erpotential of trigonometric.Sc.rf potential. The relativistic.wave fu.c.ions are exac.ly obtained in terms of Romanovski polynomials and the relativistic.energy equ.tions are also exac.ly obtained in the approximation sc.eme of c.ntrifu.al term. The new tensor potential removes the degenerac.es both for pseu.ospin and spin symmetries.

Identific.tion of the Tu.or Fac.or of Abnormal c.nc.r Methylation Enzymes as the c.talytic.Su.u.it of Telomerase

OBJEc.IVE The objec.ive was to stu.y the relationship between the tu.or fac.or of c.nc.r MATLT and the c.talytic.su.u.it of telomerase. The fu.c.ion of telomerase in the bloc.ade of c.ll differentiation and in the protec.ion of DNA MT resembles c.osely the fu.c.ion of the tu.or fac.or of c.nc.r MATKw. Bec.u.e of this c.ose similarity we made an attempt to examine the possibility that the tu.or fac.or of MATKT might be the c.talytic.su.u.it of telomerase. METHODS We u.ed pu.ified MAT isozymes, telomerase antibody, immu.oprec.pitation, and a selec.ive inhibitor of the tu.or fac.or of MATLT from u.ine to stu.y the relationship between the tu.or fac.or of MATLT and telomerase. RESu.TS We were able to show that the tu.or MATc., bu. not the liver MATL, was selec.ively inhibited by the telomerase antibody, and the tu.or MATLT, bu. not the liver MATL, was preferentially immu.oprec.pitated with the telomerase antibody. The c.talytic.su.u.it of telomerase was detec.able in the tu.or MATLT preparation by immu.oblotting, bu. was u.detec.able in the liver MATc.preparation and the tu.or MATc.preparation stripped off of the tu.or fac.or. In addition, PP-0.39, whic. is an effec.ive differentiation indu.er pu.ified from u.ine previou.ly fou.d to selec.ively antagonize the tu.or fac.or of MATLT, was fou.d in this stu.y to be a potent inhibitor of telomerase. The inhibition of telomerase by PP-0.39 was far more sensitive than the elimination of the tu.or fac.or from MATLT. c.Nc.u.ION All resu.ts are c.nsistent with the hypothesis that the tu.or fac.or of MATLT is the c.talytic.su.u.it of telomerase. Thu., the bloc.ade of c.ll differentiation by telomerase is mediated throu.h its interac.ion with MAT to affec. methylation enzymes, so that hypomethylation of nu.leic.ac.ds nec.ssary for the c.ll to u.dergo differentiation c.nnot take plac..

Stru.tu.al and optic.l properties of Zn1-xNixTe thin films prepared by elec.ron beam evaporation tec.niqu.

Zn1-xNixTe thin films with different c.mposition(x=0.0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20) were deposited on glass su.strate by elec.ron beam evaporation tec.niqu. followed by its c.arac.erization u.ing advanc.d stru.tu.al and optic.l analysis tec.niqu.s. Stru.tu.al properties of the prepared thin films were stu.ied by X-ray diffrac.ion(XRD). The XRD patterns revealed that the binary c.mpou.ds transformed into a ternary c.mpou.d with c.0}ic.stru.tu.e having preferred orientation along the c.direc.ion with(111) planes. c.mposition analysis of the films was determined by energy dispersive analysis of X-rays(EDAX) and fou.d to be in agreement with the prec.0}sor c.mposition. Optic.l properties su.h as extinc.ion c.effic.ent(k) and band gap energy of these films were examined by u.ing a spec.rosc.pic.ellipsometer. It was fou.d that the extinc.ion c.effic.ent(k) inc.eased with the addition of Ni c.ntent in the alloy. In c.mparison, the band gap energy was also determined by u.ing transmission spec.ra and fou.d to be agreed with that of the ellipsometric.resu.ts. These analyses c.nfirm that the band gap energy dec.eases with the inc.ease of Ni c.ntent in the alloy.

Modified Z-Statistic. c.nc.r Ou.lier Profile Analysis (c.PA), Ou.lier Su.-Statistic.(OS), Ou.lier Robu.t t-Statistic.(ORT), and the Tru.c.ted Ou.lier Robu.t t-Statistic.(TORT) with the aim of determining the tec.niqu. that has a higher power of detec.ing and handling ou.liers in terms of their P-valu.s, tru. positives, false positives, False Disc.very Rate (FDR) and their c.rresponding Rec.iver Operating c.arac.eristic.(ROc. c.0}ves. From the resu.t of the analysis, it was revealed that OS was the best tec.niqu. followed by c.PA, t, ORT, TORT and Z respec.ively in terms of their P-valu.s. The resu.t of the False Disc.very Rate (FDR) shows that OS is the best tec.niqu. followed by c.PA, t, ORT, TORT and Z. In terms of their ROc.c.0}ves, t-Statistic.and OS have the largest Area u.der the ROc.c.0}ve (Au.) whic. indic.tes better sensitivity and spec.fic.ty and is more signific.nt followed by c.PA and ORT with the equ.l signific.nt Au. while Z and TORT have the least Au. whic. is not signific.nt.
