Biomaterials have ushered the field of tissue engineering and regeneration into a new era with the development of advanced *** these,the composites of inorganic materials with organic polymers present unique structural and biochemical properties equivalent to naturally occurring hybrid systems such as bones,and thus are highly *** last decade has witnessed a steady increase in research on such systems with the focus being on mimicking the peculiar properties of inorganic/organic combination composites in *** this review,we discuss the recent progress on the use of inorganic particle/polymer composites for tissue engineering and regenerative *** have elaborated the advantages of inorganic particle/polymer composites over their organic particle-based composite *** the inorganic particles play a crucial role in defining the features and regenerative capacity of such composites,the review puts a special emphasis on the various types of inorganic particles used in inorganic particle/polymer *** inorganic particles that are covered in this review are categorised into two broad types(1)solid(e.g.,calcium phosphate,hydroxyapatite,etc.)and(2)porous particles(e.g.,mesoporous silica,porous silicon etc.),which are elaborated in detail with recent *** review also covers other new types of inorganic material(e.g.,2D inorganic materials,clays,etc.)based polymer composites for tissue engineering ***,we provide our expert analysis and opinion of the field focusing on the limitations of the currently used inorganic/organic combination composites and the immense potential of new generation of composites that are in development.

Visual detection of tropomyosin,a major shrimp allergenic protein using gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)-assisted colorimetric aptasensor

A gold nanoparticle-based label-free colorimetric assay was developed to detect the shrimp allergenic protein tropomyosin(TM),an important biomarker responsible for severe clinical reactivity to *** a gold nanoparticles(AuNPs)-tropomyosin-binding aptamer(TMBA)complex,the aptamer adsorbs onto the surface of AuNPs and dissociates in the presence of *** addition,AuNPs tend to aggregate in the presence of ionic salt,revealing a color change(i.e.,wine-red to purple/blue)with a shift in the maximum absorption peak from 520 *** the presence of specific binding TM,the aptamer folds into a tertiary structure where it more efficiently stabilizes AuNPs toward the salt-induced aggregation with a hypsochromic shift in the absorption spectra compared to the stabilized AuNPs by aptamer *** on the aggregation and sensitive spectral transformation principle,the AuNPs-based colorimetric aptasensor was successfully applied to detect TM with a range of 10-200 nmol/L and a low detection limit of 40 nmol/L in water *** reliability,selectivity,and sensitivity of the aptasensor was then tested with food samples spiked with *** observed detection limit was as low as 70 nmol/L in shrimp,90 nmol/L in tofu,and 80 nmol/L in eggs,*** anticipate the proposed AuNPs-based colorimetric aptasensor assay possesses a high potential for the easy and efficient visual colorimetric detection of TM.

Programmable microfluidic genotyping of plant DNA samples for marker-assisted selection

As demands to maintain the global food production continue to mount,multinational seed companies are turning to new DNA marker technologies to accelerate the rate of plant breeding and crop *** key to widespread adoption of molecular breeding is the availability of flexible and cost-effective tools that can perform combinatorial and high-throughput genotyping of single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)to guide the crop development *** this end,we have developed a programmable,droplet-based microfluidic device for genotyping maize genomic DNA.A unique feature of the microfluidic platform is the nano sample processors(NSPs),which allow the device to sequentially load an unrestricted number of unique DNA samples using only two inlets,overcoming the current limitation to the number of sample inputs due to small device *** and programmable droplet generation within the device allows each sample to be genotyped against a panel of markers on ***,we have successfully implemented the Invader assay for SNP genotyping in flowing,50-nL droplets,thus achieving significant reduction in consumption of reagents per reaction as compared with conventional genotyping *** a demonstration,we performed 240 Invader reactions(testing 8 DNA samples against 10 SNP markers)and achieved greater than 93% accuracy in SNP calling of plant DNA samples in a single droplet-based experiment.

Cost Comparison of Different Types of Formworks

Formwork is the temporary moulds in the construction which is fabricated based on the drawing and design of the structure and into which the concrete is poured to form the required *** is an essential part of the construction as it has been used by the *** formworks must be strong enough to withstand all types of *** joint must be in proper condition to avoid any kind of *** materials used for the formworks should be economical,easily available and *** formworks can be made up of different materials such as plywood,steel,aluminum,composite material,*** steel formwork the plates used for the slab support are made up of galvanized steel and these are fabricated as per the *** plates are used in the aluminum framework along with the other components made up of *** selection of a suitable framework is important in any project because it bears about 25%to 30%cost of the total cost of *** the present study,different types of formworks such as steel,plywood and aluminum were studied in a project and a comparison was made on the reusability and easiness in handling and ***,a comparison of the formwork used in the construction of the 5th and 11th-floor tower based on the specific plan and drawing was *** results showed that the aluminum formwork was found to be efficient and suitable among all formworks,although the cost was higher compared to other formwork materials.

The expression of proteins involved in digestion and detoxification are regulated in Helicoverpa armigera to cope up with chlorpyrifos insecticide

Helicoverpa armigera is a key pest in many vital crops, which is mainly controlled by chemical strategies, To manage this pest is becoming challenging due to its ability and evolution of resistance against insecticides. Further, its subsequent spread on nonhost plant is remarkable in recent times. Hence, decoding resistance mechanism against phytochemicals and synthetic insecticides is a major challenge. The present work describes that the digestion, defense and immunity related enzymes are associated with chlorpyrifos resistance in 11. armigera. Proteomic analysis of/-/, armigera gut tissue upon feeding on chlorpyrifos containing diet （CH） and artificial diet （AD） using nano-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry identified upregulated 23-proteins in CH fed larvae. Database searches combined with gene ontology analysis revealed that the identified gut proteins engrossed in digestion, proteins crucial for immunity, adaptive responses to stress, and detoxification. Biochemical and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction anal- ysis of candidate proteins indicated that insects were struggling to get nutrients and energy in presence of CH, while at the same time endeavoring to metabolize chlorpyrifos. More- over, we proposed a potential processing pathway of chlorpyrifos in H. armigera gut by examining the metabolites using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. 1f. armigera exhibit a range of intriguing behavioral, morphological adaptations and resistance to in- secticides by regulating expression of proteins involved in digestion and detoxification mechanisms to cope up with chlorpyrifos. In these contexts, as gut is a rich repository of biological information; profound analysis of gut tissues can give clues of detoxification and resistance mechanism in insects.

Percutaneous direct endoscopic pancreatic necrosectomy

Approximately 10%-20% of the cases of acute pancreatitis have acute necrotizing pancreatitis. The infection of pancreatic necrosis is typically associated with a prolonged course and poor prognosis. The multidisciplinary, minimally invasive “step-up” approach is the cornerstone of the management of infected pancreatic necrosis(IPN). Endosonography-guided transmural drainage and debridement is the preferred and minimally invasive technique for those with IPN. However, it is technically not feasible in patients with early pancreatic/peripancreatic fluid collections(PFC)(< 2-4 wk) where the wall has not formed;in PFC in paracolic gutters/pelvis;or in walled off pancreatic necrosis(WOPN) distant from the stomach/duodenum. Percutaneous drainage of these infected PFC or WOPN provides rapid infection control and patient stabilization. In a subset of patients where sepsis persists and necrosectomy is needed, the sinus drain tract between WOPN and skin-established after percutaneous drainage or surgical necrosectomy drain, can be used for percutaneous direct endoscopic necrosectomy(PDEN). There have been technical advances in PDEN over the last two *** esophageal fully covered self-expandable metal stent, like the lumen-apposing metal stent used in transmural direct endoscopic necrosectomy, keeps the drainage tract patent and allows easy and multiple passes of the flexible endoscope while performing PDEN. There are several advantages to the PDEN procedure. In expert hands, PDEN appears to be an effective, safe, and minimally invasive adjunct to the management of IPN and may particularly be considered when a conventional drain is in situ by virtue of previous percutaneous or surgical intervention. In this current review, we summarize the indications, techniques, advantages, and disadvantages of PDEN. In addition, we describe two cases of PDEN in distinct clinical situations, followed by a review of the most recent literature.

Adsorption Characteristics of Zinc (Zn<sup>2+</sup>) from Aqueous Solution by Natural Bentonite and Kaolin Clay Minerals: A Comparative Study

Clay minerals are one of the potential good adsorbent alternatives to activated carbon because of their large surface area and high cation exchange capacity. In this work the adsorptive properties of natural bentonite and kaolin clay minerals in the removal of zinc (Zn2+) from aqueous solution have been studied by laboratory batch adsorption kinetic and equi- librium experiments. The result shows that the amount of adsorption of zinc metal ion increases with initial metal ion concentration, contact time, but decreases with the amount of adsorbent and temperature of the system for both the ad- sorbents. Kinetic experiments clearly indicate that adsorption of zinc metal ion (Zn2+) on bentonite and kaolin is a two-step process: a very rapid adsorption of zinc metal ion to the external surface is followed by possible slow decreas- ing intraparticle diffusion in the interior of the adsorbent. This has also been confirmed by an intraparticle diffusion model. The equilibrium adsorption results are fitted better with the Langmuir isotherm compared to the Freundlich model. The value of separation factor, RL from Langmuir equation give an indication of favourable adsorption. Finally from thermodynamic studies, it has been found that the adsorption process is exothermic due to negative ?H0 accompa- nied by decrease in entropy change and Gibbs free energy change (?G0). Overall bentonite is a better adsorbent than kaolin in the the removal of Zn2+ from its aqueous solution.
