Open reduction and internal fixation for displaced supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children with crossed K-wires via lateral approach

Objective： To assess the therapeutic results of open reduction and internal fixation with crossed K-wires via lateral approach for displaced supracondvlar fractures of the humerus in children. Methods： We prospectively followed 52 children who presented with Gartland type 3 displaced supraeondylar fractures of the humerus and were managed by open reduction and internal fixation with crossed K-wires via lateral *** were 37 male and 15 female patients; average age was 7.39 years. The most common mechanism of trauma was fall while playing （n=23）, followed by fall from height （n=20）, road traffic accidents （n-5） and fall from standing height （n=2）. In 2 cases, mode of injury was not available. The mean follow-up was 12 months and patients were assessed according to Flynn＇s criteria. Results： Lateral approach provided an excellent view of the lateral column between two nervous planes and enabled an anatomical reduction in all cases. Immobilizing the elbow at 90 degrees or more of flexion was not needed after cross K-wire fixation. Majority of patients regained full range of motion within 6 weeks of pin removal. Two patients had postoperative ulnar nerve injuries that resolved after pin removal. The common late complication of cubitus varus was not seen in any patient. Delayed presentation to the emergency department, repeated manipulations by bone setters and massage with edible oil were responsible for stiffness in 5 patients. Superficial pin tract infection was noted in 5 patients that resolved with dressings and antibiotics. No deep infection occurred. A detailed clinical examination and radiographic analysis was done at final follow-up. They included measurement of carrying angle and range of movements of both operated and normal sides, and radiographs of both upper limbs for comparison. According to Flynn＇s criteria, 90.4% patients showed satisfactory results. Conclusion： Lateral approach for open reduction and internal fixation of the widely-displaced

Numerical Study of Hydrogen Peroxide Thermal Decomposition in a Shock Tube

Hydrogen peroxide(H_2O_2) has its significance during the combustion of heavy hydrocarbons in the internal combustion(IC) engines. Owing to its importance the measurements of H_2O_2 dissociation rate have been reported mostly using the shock tube apparatus. These types of experimental measurements are although quite reliable but require high cost. On the other hand, numerical simulations provide low cost and reliable solutions especially using computation fluid dynamics(CFD) software. In the current study an experimental shock tube flow is modeled using open access platform OpenFOAM to investigate the thermal decomposition of H_2O_2. Using two different convective schemes, limited Linear and upwind, the propagation of shock wave and resultant dissociation reaction are simulated. The results of the simulations are compared with the experimental data. It is observed that the rate constant measured using the simulation data deviates from the experimental results in the low temperature range and approaches the experimental values as the temperature is raised.

本论文研究了通过中巴经济走廊CPEC的中国货物的运输问题,特别是通过实际评估针对其中的运输费用和运输时间进行了研究。本研究的重点在于发现在与运输成本和运输成本相关的阶段内,进口和价格是否会受到任何好的甚至是不利的影响,并找出与运输成本和运输时间的影响路径,主要目的是找出CPEC对中国制造产品的进口和成本的影响。这项研究使用了各种来源的成本数据,如航运企业和货运代理数据等。数据调查包括分类拆分、配送成本和行程周期等方面,并考察了企业对供应链的功能、活动和流程的了解是用来提取成本信息。本文首先综述了运输费用在供应链管理中的重要性和运输时间在供应链管理中的重要性。分析了巴基斯坦的地理、气候、经济和政府政策等多个因素,并将这些因素合并成一个整体描述,描述它们如何影响出口成本和时间周期。在分析货物路径时,CPEC项目的初始目标也考虑在内,讨论中还考虑了中国的贸易量和目前的航线过境时间。研究结果表明包括对德国、法国、沙特阿拉伯、阿曼和其他8个港口的供应链效益中大大节省了成本和时间,同时CPEC在运输时间和成本方面肯定会给供应链系统和台湾等地区带来巨大的利益。

Expert diagnostic system for detection of hypertension and diabetes mellitususing discrete wavelet decomposition of photoplethysmogram signal andmachine learning technique

Hypertension is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and the overlap of diabetes mellitus (DM)with hypertension can lead to severe complications. There is a need for early diagnosis and risk stratification toimplement an overall risk management strategy. Presently, the conventional method is not suitable for large-scalescreening. The primary aim of this study is to develop an automated diagnostic system that uses Photoplethysmogram (PPG) signals for the non-invasive diagnosis of hypertension and DM-II. The proposed model usesa statistical feature extracted by decomposing the PPG signal up to level 11 into a sub-band using Discrete wavelettransform (DWT), and a variety of classifiers are used for the classification of hypertension and detection of DM-IIpatients. Three feature selection techniques used are Spearman correlation, ReliefF and Minimum RedundancyMaximum Relevance (mRMR) to select 20 top features out of 130 features using correlation with systole bloodpressure (SBP), diastole blood pressure (DBP) values and D-II. The highest accuracy attained by the Adaptiveneural fuzzy system (ANFIS) for classification categories such as normal (NT) vs prehypertension(PHT), NT *** type 1 (HT-I), NT vs hypertension type 2 (HT-II) in terms of F1 score are 92.%, 98.5%, 98.3% (SBP)and 83.1%, 95.6%, 86.8% (DBP),respectively. The accuracy achieved by the adaptive-network-based fuzzyinference system (ANFIS) for the classification of normal (non-diabetic) vs. diabetic patients is 99.1%. The hybridlearning algorithm-based classifier achieved higher accuracy for hypertension risk stratification as compared tothe hard computing classifier, which requires parameter tuning and DWT decomposition is robust to the noisysignal, overcoming the limitation of the morphological feature-based model.

OffSig-SinGAN: A Deep Learning-Based Image Augmentation Model for Offline Signature Verification

Offline signature verification(OfSV)is essential in preventing the falsification of *** learning(DL)based OfSVs require a high number of signature images to attain acceptable ***,a limited number of signature samples are available to train these models in a real-world *** researchers have proposed models to augment new signature images by applying various ***,on the other hand,have used human neuromotor and cognitive-inspired augmentation models to address the demand for more signature ***,augmenting a sufficient number of signatures with variations is still a challenging *** study proposed OffSig-SinGAN:a deep learning-based image augmentation model to address the limited number of signatures problem on offline signature *** proposed model is capable of augmenting better quality signatures with diversity from a single signature image *** is empirically evaluated on widely used public datasets;*** quality of augmented signature images is assessed using four metrics like pixel-by-pixel difference,peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR),structural similarity index measure(SSIM),and frechet inception distance(FID).Furthermore,various experiments were organised to evaluate the proposed image augmentation model’s performance on selected DL-based OfSV systems and to prove whether it helped to improve the verification accuracy *** results showed that the proposed augmentation model performed better on the GPDSsyntheticSignature dataset than other augmentation *** improved verification accuracy rate of the selected DL-based OfSV system proved the effectiveness of the proposed augmentation model.

There is an increase in annual waste generation due to urbanization,industrialization,and population *** waste management crisis in developing countries and its complexity from region to region has inspired extensive research work in this *** management not only results in environmental hazards,but it also causes significant socio-economic *** to the absence of comprehensive studies on waste to energy(WTE)assessment,this study assesses and reports the merits of alternative technologies for converting WTE in small and medium-size *** analysis for waste collection data in this study uses a pilot study approach to provide useful insights and waste classification.A cantonment district of Pakistan(Wah Cantt)has been used as a case study for performing a technological and economic assessment of energy generation through the use of thermal and biological treatment processes.A mathematical modeling approach has been adopted for generating an economic value of each technology through which this waste can be ***,the levelized cost of energy(LCOE)based assessment has been performed to provide a methodological framework for selecting the most feasible WTE technology in a small or medium-size *** on the model results,anaerobic digestion appears to be the most sustainable technology due to the organic nature of waste in Wah Cantt,land legislation,and availability of area to install a waste *** all the waste collected,the district can generate approximately 14.4 MW of energy through thermal treatment,19,110 m^(3) of daily biogas through anaerobic digestion,and 5 million tons of fertilizer through ***,if a proper supply chain is established for converting a portion of Pakistan’s annual waste generation,a significant amount of waste energy potential can be restored.
