Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs)function as key modulators in mammalian immunity,particularly due to their involvement in lncRNA-mediated competitive endogenous RNA(ceRNA)*** their recognized significance in mammals,research on lncRNAs in lower vertebrates remains *** the present study,we characterized the first immune-related lncRNA(pol-lnc78)in the teleost Japanese flounder(Paralichthys olivaceus).Results indicated that pol-lnc78 acted as a ceRNA for pol-miR-n199-3p to target the sterile alpha and armadillo motif-containing protein(SARM),the fifth discovered member of the Toll/interleukin 1(IL-1)receptor(TIR)adaptor *** ceRNA network regulated the antibacterial responses of flounder via the Toll-like receptor(TLR)signaling ***,SARM acted as a negative regulator and exacerbated bacterial infection by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines IL-1βand tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α).Pol-miR-n199-3p reduced SARM expression by specifically interacting with the 3’untranslated region(UTR),thereby promoting SARM-dependent inflammatory cytokine expression and protecting the host against bacterial ***,pol-lnc78 sponged pol-miR-n199-3p to ameliorate the inhibition of SARM *** infection,the negative regulators pol-lnc78 and SARM were significantly down-regulated,while pol-miR-n199-3p was significantly up-regulated,thus favoring host antibacterial *** findings provide novel insights into the mechanisms underlying fish immunity and open new horizons to better understand ceRNA crosstalk in lower vertebrates.

As the mining depth increases,the problem of high-temperature thermal damage mainly caused by heat dissipation of surrounding rock is becoming more and more *** is very important to solve the environmental problem of mine heat damage to improve the efficiency of mineral resource exploitation and protect the physical and mental health of *** can apply thermal insulation coating on the walls of mine roadways as a means of implementing active heat *** this paper,expanded perlite(EP)and glazed hollow bead(GHB)are used as the main thermal insulation materials,ceramsite and sand as aggregate,plus glass fiber and sodium dodecyl sulfate to develop a new lightweight composite thermal insulation coating through orthogonal experiment *** to the plate heat flow meter method and mechanical test method,the thermal insulation and mechanical properties of EP-GHB mixed ceramsite coating were studied by making specimens with different parameter ratios,and according to the analysis of the experimental results,the optimal mix ratio of the coating was *** addition,Fluent numerical simulation software was used to establish the roadway model,and the thermal insulation effect of the coating in the roadway under different working conditions was *** results show that the thermal conductivity of the prepared composite thermal insulation coating material is only 8.5% of that of ordinary cement mortar,and the optimal thickness of adding thermal insulation coating is 0.2 m,which can reduce the outlet air temperature of the roadway with a length of 1000 m by 4.87 K at this *** thermal insulation coating developed in this study has the advantages of simple technology and strong practicability,and has certain popularization and application value in mine heat damage control.

Volume transport in the East Taiwan Channel in response to diff erent tracks of typhoons as revealed by HYCOM data

Northward infl ow through the East Taiwan Channel is vital in modulation of water exchange processes off northeastern Taiwan,*** addition to the eff ects of the Kuroshio Current and westward-propagating oceanic mesoscale eddies,the seas off eastern Taiwan,China,are frequently infl uenced by *** on extrema of East Taiwan Channel volume transport(ETCVT)that appear within days of typhoon infl uence,this study investigated 124 historical cyclones including 91 typhoons that passed over the study sea area off eastern Taiwan,*** on 25-year HYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model(HYCOM)data,71%of short-term(within 10 d)ETCVT absolute values with>5 Sv occurred under the infl uence of typhoons crossing the study sea area,and the maximum short-term ETCVT extrema induced by typhoons were 12.5 and-10.9 *** ETCVT extrema induced by typhoons showed reasonable positive correlation with typhoon wind *** importantly,the ETCVT extrema diff ered in response to diff erent typhoon *** types of typhoon were identifi ed based on their track and impact on *** typhoon cases were examined to elucidate the specifi cs of each typical *** on historical best track data and HYCOM data,it was established that Type I typhoons caused the ETCVT to exhibit a negative extremum followed by a positive *** Type I,II,and III typhoons tended to result in typical ETCVT fl uctuations in the surface mixing layer above the depth of 50-100 m,while Type II typhoons were more likely to induce ETCVT fl uctuations in the subsurface *** fi ndings of this study enhance understanding of ETCVT extrema that occur following typhoon passage,which is valuable for short-term physical-biogeochemical studies both in the study region and in areas downstream owing to the large net volume transport changes induced by typhoons.

Characteristics,sources and health risks assessment of VOCs in Zhengzhou,China during haze pollution season

Zhengzhou is one of the most haze-polluted cities in Central China with high organic carbon emission,which accounts for 15%-20%of particulate matter(PM_(2.5))in winter and causes significantly adverse health *** organic compounds(VOCs)are the precursors of secondary PM_(2.5)and O_(3)*** investigation of characteristics,sources and health risks assessment of VOCs was carried out at the urban area of Zhengzhou from 1^(st) to 31^(st) December,*** mean concentrations of total detected VOCs were 48.8±23.0 ***(22.0±10.4 ppbv),halocarbons(8.1±3.9 ppbv)and aromatics(6.5±3.9 ppbv)were the predominant VOC species,followed by alkenes(5.1±3.3 ppbv),oxygenated VOCs(3.6±1.8 ppbv),alkyne(3.5±1.9,ppbv)and sulfide(0.5±0.9 ppbv).The Positive Matrix Factorization model was used to identify and apportion VOCs *** major sources of VOCs were identified as vehicular exhaust,industrial processes,combustion,fuel evaporation,and solvent *** carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk values of species were *** carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks of almost all air toxics increased during haze *** total non-carcinogenic risks exceeded the acceptable *** VOC species posed no non-carcinogenic risk during three haze *** carcinogenic risks of chloroform,1,2-dichloroethane,1,2-dibromoethane,benzyl chloride,hexachloro-1,3-butadiene,benzene and naphthalene were above the acceptable level(1.0×10^(-6))but below the tolerable risk level(1.0×10^(-4)).Industrial emission was the major contributor to non-carcinogenic,and solvent use was the major contributor to carcinogenic risks.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a highly familial and heritable endocrine disorder. Over half of the daughters born to women with PCOS may eventually develop their own PCOS-related symptoms. Progress in the treatment of PCOS is currently hindered by the complexity of its clinical manifestations and incomplete knowledge of its etiopathogenesis. Various animal models, including experimentally induced, naturally occurring, and spontaneously arising ones, have been established to emulate a wide range of phenotypical and pathological traits of human PCOS. These studies have led to a paradigm shift in understanding the genetic, developmental, and evolutionary origins of this disorder. Furthermore, emerging evidence suggests that animal models are useful in evaluating state-of-the-art drugs and treatments for PCOS. This review aims to provide a comprehensive summary of recent studies of PCOS in animal models, highlighting the power of these disease models in understanding the biology of PCOS and aiding high-throughput approaches.

Comparative study of galectin-3 and B-type natriuretic peptide as biomarkers for the diagnosis of heart failure

Background Heart failure （HF） is a common disease with complex pathophysiological causes. The diagnosis of HF commonly relies on comprehensive analyses of medical history and symptoms, and results from echocardiography and biochemical tests. Galectin-3, a rela-tively new biomarker in HF, was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2010 as a marker in the stratification of risk for HF. We assessed galectin-3 as a biomarker for HF diagnosis in patients with preserved ejection fraction （pEF） and compared its performance with that of B-type natriuretic peptide （BNP）. Methods Thirty-five pEF patients with HF （HFpEF group） and 43 pEF patients without HF （control group） were enrolled. Plasma levels of galectin-3 and BNP in HFpEF and control subjects were determined. Sensitivity, specificity, pre dictive values, and accuracy of galectin-3 and BNP as markers for HF diagnosis were calculated and compared. Results Levels of galec- tin-3 and BNP were 23.09 ±6.97 ng/mL and 270.46 ± 330.41 pg/mL in the HFpEF group, and 16.74 ± 2.75 ng/mL and 59.94 ± 29.93 pg/mL in the control group, respectively. Differences in levels of galectin-3 and BNP between the two groups were significant （P 〈 0.01）. As a bio- marker for HF diagnosis in study subjects, galectin-3 showed sensitivity and specificity of 94.3% and 65.1%, respectively, at a cutoff value of 17.8 ug/mL. BNP showed sensitivity and specificity of 77.1% and 90.7%, respectively, at a cutoff value of 100 pg/mL. Galectin-3 was a significantly more sensitive （P 〈 0.05） but less specific （P 〈 0.01） biomarker compared with BNP. Differences in positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy between galectin-3 and BNP markers were not significant （P 〉 0.05）. Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve （95% confidence interval） were 0.891 （0.808-0.974） and 0.896 （0.809-0.984） for galectin-3 and BNP, respec- tively, with no significant difference between the two values （P 〉 0.05）. Experimental study of Al agglomeration on solid propellant burning surface and condensed combustion products

Aluminum(Al) particles are commonly added to energetic materials including propellants,explosives and pyrotechnics to increase the overall energy density of the composite,but aluminum agglomeration on the combustion surface may lower the combustion efficiency of propellants,resulting in a loss in twophase ***,it is necessary to understand the agglomeration mechanism of aluminum particles on the combustion *** this paper,a high-pressure sealed combustion chamber is constructed,and high-speed camera is used to capture the whole process of aluminum accumulation,aggregation and agglomeration on the combustion surface,and the secondary agglomeration process near the combustion *** microscopic morphology and chemical composition of the condensed combustion products(CCPs) are then studied by using scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive(SEM-EDS) *** show that there are three main types of condensed combustion products:small smoke oxide particles oxidized by aluminum vapor,usually less than 1 μm;typical agglomerates formed by the combustion of aluminum agglomerates;carbonized agglomerates that are widely distributed,usually formed by irregular movements of aluminum *** particle size of condensed combustion products is measured by laser particle size *** the pressure increases from 0.5 MPa to 1.0 MPa in nitrogen,the mass average particle size of aluminum agglomerates decreases by 49.7%.As the ambient gas is changed from 0.5 MPa nitrogen to 0.5 MPa air,the mass average particle size of aluminum agglomerates decreases by 67.3%.Results show that as the ambient pressure increases,the higher oxygen content can improve combustion efficiency and reduce the average agglomeration size of aluminum particles.

Preparation of slightly crosslinked monodisperse poly(maleic anhydride-cyclohexyl vinyl ether-divinylbenzene)functional microspheres with anhydride groups via precipitation polymerization

Slightly crosslinked monodisperse poly（maleic anhydride-cyclohexyl vinyl ether-divinylbenzene）（MA-CHVE-DVB） microspheres were prepared via precipitation polymerization while using 2,2- azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator in a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and n-heptane without any stabilizer. The number-average diameter of the resultant poly（MA-CHVE-DVB） microspheres ranged from 0.478 to 1.386 μm with a polydispersity index of 1.00 to 1.02 that depended on the feed ratios of the MA/CHVE/DVB monomers. The introduction of one electron donor monomer cyclohexyl vinyl ether strongly affected the yield, size, and morphology of these slightly crosslinked microspheres. Quinoline- type chelating resins were obtained after combining the poly（MA-CHVE-DVB） with 8-hydroxyquinoline; the adsorption properties of these materials were measured through their ability to remove Cu^2＋ ions from water. The poly（MA-CHVE-DVB） microspheres with low degrees of crosslinking provided more effective functional groups and therefore better ion removal capabilities. These slightly crosslinked microspheres may have applications in water treatment as well as in sensing and drug delivery.
