Evaluation of high-temperature tensile behavior for metal foils by a novel resistance heating assisted tensile testing system using samples with optimized structures

To evaluate the tensile behavior of metal foils by resistance heating(RH)assisted tensile testing system accurately,this study proposed to embed a digital image correlation(DIC)system with laser speckles for the measurement of full-field strain ***,the sample structures were optimized to achieve uniform temperature and strain *** infrared camera was used to monitor the temperature *** samples instead of dog-bone shaped samples were proposed.A model for calculating the temperature distribution was established to optimize the sample *** parameters that influence the temperature distribution and tensile behavior were *** results,compared to the strain measured by a non-contact extensometer,the maximum deviation of the strain measured by DIC was less than 6%when the nominal strain was larger than *** is confirmed that the proposed tensile testing system is reliable for measuring the temperature and full-field strain *** shape influenced temperature distributions of smaller samples while it almost had no influence on the temperature distributions of larger *** temperature difference was not affected by the material type but by the sample *** proposed rectangular shape was validated to be feasible for RH assisted tensile *** sample length was successfully optimized for a more uniform temperature distribution by the established *** the tensile deformation was not influenced by the sample shape,the temperature distribution resulted in a non-uniform strain distribution before achieving ultimate tensile *** effective sample length between two clamping jigs contributed to a more uniform temperature distribution and material deformation.A more accurate evaluation of high-temperature tensile behavior for metal foils can be achieved by the proposed RH assisted tensile testing system using rectangular samples with an optimized structure.

To minimize quenching distortion and dispersion, carburizing and quenching process conditions must be optimized; this includes the parts racking design used for quenching. We investigated some factors affecting carburized quenching distortion with an experiment using a hypoid gear having a shaft and with numerical simulation methods. The experimental results and those obtained from simulation were generally in agreement. Focusing on the surface temperature distribution in the gear, we studied quenching distortion characteristics in terms of changes in tooth profile and helix deviation. In our experiments, distortions occur during quenching in 373 k oil after austenitized temperature treatments conducted with various attitudes. We calculated the distortions by simulating the carburized oil-quenching process for the hypoid gear. Our results show large differences between the cooling rates of the tooth toe, middle section, and heel edges, and these greatly influence the change in tooth profile and helix deviation. We found that reducing the differences in temperatures on the gear surfaces during quenching is most important for minimizing the quench distortion of the hypoid gear.

Chemosensor arrays have a great potential for on-site applications in real-world ***,to fabricate on chemosensor array a number of chemosensors are required to obtain various optical patterns for multianalyte ***,we propose a minimized chemosensor array composed of only two types of carboxylate-functionalized polythiophene derivatives for the detection of eight types of metal *** recognition of the metal ions,the polythiophenes exhibited changes in their fluorescence intensity and various spectral *** both chemosensors have the same polymer backbone and recognition moiety,only the difference in the number of methylene groups contributed to the difference in the fluorescence response ***,the metal ions in aqueous media were successfully discriminated qualitatively and quantitatively by the chemosensor microarray on the glass *** study offers an approach for achieving a minimized chemosensor array just by changing the alkyl chain lengths without the necessity for many receptors and reporters.

Graphs help to define the relationships between entities in the *** relationships,represented by edges,often provide additional context information which can be utilised to discover patterns in the *** Neural Networks(GNNs)employ the inductive bias of the graph structure to learn and predict on various *** primary operation of graph neural networks is the feature aggregation step performed over neighbours of the node based on the structure of the *** addition to its own features,for each hop,the node gets additional combined features from its *** aggregated features help define the similarity or dissimilarity of the nodes with respect to the labels and are useful for tasks like node ***,in real-world data,features of neighbours at different hops may not correlate with the node's ***,any indiscriminate feature aggregation by GNN might cause the addition of noisy features leading to degradation in model's *** this work,we show that selective aggregation of node features from various hops leads to better performance than default aggregation on the node classification ***,we propose a Dual-Net GNN architecture with a classifier model and a selector *** classifier model trains over a subset of input node features to predict node labels while the selector model learns to provide optimal input subset to the classifier for the best *** two models are trained jointly to learn the best subset of features that give higher accuracy in node label *** extensive experiments,we show that our proposed model outperforms both feature selection methods and state-of-the-art GNN models with remarkable improvements up to 27.8%.

During tunnel boring machine(TBM)excavation,lithology identification is an important issue to understand tunnelling performance and avoid time-consuming ***,site investigation generally lacks ground samples and the information is subjective,heterogeneous,and imbalanced due to mixed ground *** this study,an unsupervised(k-means)and synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE)-guided light-gradient boosting machine(LightGBM)classifier is proposed to identify the soft ground tunnel classification and determine the imbalanced issue of tunnelling *** the tunnel excavation,an earth pressure balance(EPB)TBM recorded 18 different operational parameters along with the three main tunnel *** proposed model is applied using Python low-code PyCaret ***,four decision tree-based classifiers were obtained in a short time period with automatic hyperparameter tuning to determine the best model for clustering-guided SMOTE *** addition,the Shapley additive explanation(SHAP)was implemented to avoid the model black box *** proposed model was evaluated using different metrics such as accuracy,F1 score,precision,recall,and receiver operating characteristics(ROC)curve to obtain a reasonable outcome for the minority *** shows that the proposed model can provide significant tunnel lithology identification based on the operational parameters of *** proposed method can be applied to heterogeneous tunnel formations with several TBM operational parameters to describe the tunnel lithologies for efficient tunnelling.

Sodium fluoride（NaF） and disodium octaborate tetrahydrate（DOT） are well-known fungicides for preventing and remediating decay in wood and wood structures,due to their excellent diffusion properties in *** efficacy of both compounds against drywood termites is,however,inadequately studied;there is a lack of information on the development of proper protection and control methods against drywood termites using these diffusible *** this study,the threshold values of fluoride and boron against drywood and subterranean termites and decay and mold fungi were assessed in laboratory *** Cryptomeria japonica ***（sugi） sapwood specimens with four different concentrations of NaF and DOT applied by either dipping or vacuum processes were subjected to attack by drywood termites,Incisitermes minor（Hagen） for 6 *** specimens were also tested against subterranean termites,Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki for 3 *** decay and mold resistance tests were then performed to determine the efficacy of the compounds against fungal *** showed 80% or greater drywood termite mortality in wood specimens treated with NaF at a retention level of1.7 kg m;or *** DOT treated groups,higher retention levels(greater than 6.8 kg m;) were needed to reach up to 80% or more termite *** general,weight losses in NaF-treated specimens were slightly lower than those in DOT-treated *** levels of around1.2 kg m;for NaF and 1.6 kg m;for DOT were high enough to reach the JIS k 1571 threshold requirement of weight loss less than 3% in subterranean termite resistance *** higher termite mortality values were seen in the DOT than NaF treatments at respective retention *** decay resistance tests,no weight losses were seen at a NaF retention level of 2.3 kg m;;however,a retention level of nearly 4 kg m;for DOT was needed for complete protection against both test *** most cases,lower weight losses were obtained in

BACkGROUND Although cyclophosphamide(CPA)is the key drug for the treatment of autoimmune diseases including vasculitides,it has some well-known adverse effects,such as myelosuppression,hemorrhagic cystitis,infertility,and ***,CPA-associated severe enteritis is a rare adverse effect,and only one case with a lethal clinical course has been ***,the appropriate management of patients with CPA-associated severe enteritis is *** SUMMARY We present the case of a 61-year-old woman diagnosed with granulomatosis with polyangiitis based on the presence of symptoms in ear,lung,and,kidney with positive myeloperoxidase-antineutrophil cytoplasmic *** received pulsed methylprednisolone followed by prednisolone 55 mg/d and intravenous CPA at a dose of 500 mg/*** days after the second course of intravenous CPA,she developed nausea,vomiting,and diarrhea,and was admitted to the *** testing revealed hypoalbuminemia,suggesting proteinlosing *** tomography revealed wall thickening of the stomach,small intestine,and colon with contrast enhancement on the lumen *** and immunosuppressive therapy were not effective,and the patient’s enteritis did not improve for>4 *** her condition became seriously exhausted,corticosteroids were tapered and supportive therapies including intravenous hyperalimentation,replenishment of albumin and gamma globulin,plasma exchange,and infection control were *** supportive therapies improved her condition,and her enteritis gradually *** was finally discharged 7 mo *** Immediate discontinuation of CPA and intensive supportive therapy are crucial for the survival of patients with CPA-associated severe enteritis.
