Migration routes and differences in migration strategies of Whooper Swans between spring and autumn

Long-distance migratory birds travel more rapidly in spring than in autumn,as they face temporal breeding ***,several species travel slower in spring owing to environmental influences,such as food availability and wind *** trackers were attached to 17 Whooper Swans(Cygnus cygnus) inhabiting northeastern Mongolia,to determine their migration routes and stopover sites in spring and *** between spring and autumn migrations,migration-influencing parameters,and the effect of spring stopover site temperatures were *** swans completed perfect tours between their wintering and breeding sites,and these data were used for *** migration lasted 57 days,with 49.2 days spent at 3.7 stopover *** migration lasted 21.5 days,with 17.5 days spent at 1.0 stopover ***,the swans traveled more rapidly in autumn than in *** distance,number of stopovers,migration speed,and straightness were important migration determinants in both spring and *** distance,stopover duration,number of stopovers,daily travel speed,travel duration,and migration speed differed significantly between spring and *** spring migration,the temperature at the current stopover sites and that at the future stopover sites displayed significant variations(t=1585.8,df=631.6,p <0.001).These findings are critical for the conservation and management of Whooper Swans and their key habitats in East Asian regions,and the data are anticipated to make a particularly significant contribution toward developing detailed management plans for the conservation of their key habitats.

Consistent habitat preference underpins the geographically divergent autumn migration of individual Mongolian common shelducks

While many avian populations follow narrow,well-defined"migratory corridors,"individuals from other populations undertake highly divergent individual migration routes,using widely dispersed stopover sites en route between breeding and wintering areas,although the reasons for these differences are rarely *** combined individual GPS-tracked migration data from Mongolian-breeding common shelduck Tadorna tadorna and remote sensing datasets,to in-vestigate habitat selection at inland stopover sites used by these birds during dispersed autumn migration,to explain their divergent migration *** used generalized linear mixed models to investigate population-level resource selection,and generalized linear models to investigate stopover-sit-level resource *** population-level model showed that water recurrence had the strongest positive effect on determining birds'occupancy at staging sites,while cultivated land and grassland land cover type had strongest negative effects;effects of other land cover types were negative but weaker,particularly effects of wwater seasonality and presence of a human foot-print,which were positive but weak or non-significant,*** stopover-site-level models showed variable resource selection patterns,the variance partitioning and cross-prediction AUC scores corroborated high inter-individual consistency in habitat selection at inland stopover sites during the dispersed autumn *** results suggest that the geographically wide-spread distribution(and generally rarity)of suitable habitats explained the spatially divergent autumn migrations of Mongolian breeding common shelduck,rather than the species showing flexible autumn staging habitat occupancy.

Background:The Swan Goose(Anser cygnoides)breeds across Mongolia and adjacent China and Russia and winters exclusively in *** is globally threatened,showing long-term major range contractions and declining abundance,linked to habitat loss and *** remain ignorant about the biogeographical subpopulation structure of the species and potential differences in their migration timing,stopovers and schedules,information that could be vital to effective conservation of different elements of the species population,which we address here with results from a telemetry ***:In 2017-2018,we attached GPS/GSM telemetry devices to 238 Swan Geese on moulting sites in three discrete parts of their summering area(Dauria International Protected Area,Central Mongolia and Western Mongolia),generating 104 complete spring and autumn migration episodes to compare migration speed and nature between birds of different summer ***:Birds from all three breeding areas used almost completely separate migration routes to winter sympatrically in the Yangtze River *** many features of the spring and autumn migrations of the three groups were similar,despite the significantly longer migration routes taken by Western Mongolian tagged birds,birds from Dauria Region arrived significantly later in winter due to prolonged staging in coastal areas and took longer to reach their breeding areas in *** birds of all breeding provenances,spring migration was approximately twice as fast as autumn *** used by staging Swan Geese(mainly wetlands)in autumn and spring almost never fell within national level protected areas,suggesting major site safeguard is necessary to protect these critical ***:This study showed the discreteness of migration routes taken by birds of different summer provenances and differences in their migratory patterns,highlighting key staging areas(Yalu River Estuary in China/North Korea for Dauria Region br

Twenty Far East Greylag Geese,Anser anser rubrirostris,were captured and fitted with Global Positioning System/Global System for Mobile Communications(GPS/GSM)loggers to identify breeding and wintering areas,migration routes and stopover *** data for the first time showed linkages between their Yangtze River wintering areas,stopover sites in northeastern China,and breeding/molting grounds in eastern Mongolia and northeast China.10 of the 20 tagged individuals provided sufficient *** stopped on migration at the Yellow River Estuary,Beidagang Reservoir and Xar Moron River,confirming these areas as being important stopover sites for this *** median spring migration duration was 33.7 days(individuals started migrating between 25 February and 16 March and completed migrating from 1 to 9 April)compared to 52.7 days in autumn(26 September-13 October until 4 November-11 December).The median stopover duration was 31.1 and 51.3 days and the median speed of travel was 62.6 and 47.9 km/day for spring and autumn migration,re*** significant differences between spring and autumn migration on the migration duration,the stopover duration and the migration speed confirmed that tagged adult Greylag Geese traveled faster in spring than autumn,supporting the hypothesis that they should be more time-limited during spring migration.

Preparation of Liquid Soap from Sheep’s Tail Fat

The aim of this study was to select sheep fat from Tsetserleg sum of Arkhangai aimag as raw material and to produce liquid soap. The oil was extracted from raw materials such as sheep’s tail fat (TF), outer fat (OF), and inner fat (IF), which were analyzed by chemical methods, and the liquid soap was obtained by cold methods. Liquid soap was prepared from three types of raw materials, each of which was mixed with 70% fat oil and 30% liquid oil. The ratio was chosen to dilute the liquid soap to 2% of the product. The most suitable oil for preparing liquid soaps from raw materials such as TFO, OFO, and IFO was the tail fat oil (TFO). The highest unsaturated fatty acid content in crude fats and oils was 41.23%, the highest content of saturated fatty acids was 22.3%, and the highest content of methyl-stearate was 33.65% by the GC-MS analytical method.

Research on Simulation of Automatic Reclosing Devices for Overhead Line Failures in Extreme Weather Conditions

In order to improve the reliability of the power system and provide uninterrupted power to the consumer, automatic reclosing (ARC) devices are often used in overhead power lines. On top of that, the condition of short-circuit elimination or removal during ARC recloser depends on many random factors. In this article, the number of outages of 110 kV overhead lines in the Khangai region of Mongolia was studied, and the statistics of ARC device operation were compared with international standards. Also, from the works produced by scientists from foreign countries, the development level and innovative trends of ARC devices were compared and studied, and the opportunity to introduce them to Mongolia’s grid system was sought. Furthermore, the 110 kV transmission lines outage and the operation of the ARC devices installed in the Khangai region of Mongolia were studied. Hence, the average operation success rate of the ARC device in the last ten years was 76%. It was also found that the number of outages of 110 kV power lines is 8 per year on average, which is 2 - 3 times higher than the international norm. Eventually, the power grid scheme of the Khangai region, especially the Bulgan-Murun 110 kV distribution network, was modelled by Digsilent Powerfactory by including the features of Mongolia’s power transmission network, and the operation of the model was checked by the load flow function of the software.

Soil moisture(SM)content is one of the most important environmental variables in relation to land surface climatology,hydrology,and ***-term SM data-sets on a regional scale provide reasonable information about climate change and global warming specific *** aim of this research work is to develop an integrated methodology for SM of kastanozems soils using multispectral satellite *** study area is Tuv(48°40′30″N and 106°15′55″E)province in the forest steppe zones in *** addition to this,land surface temperature(LST)and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)from Landsat satellite images were integrated for the ***,we used a digital elevation model(DEM)from ASTER satellite image with 30-m *** and slope maps were derived from this *** soil moisture index(SMI)was obtained using spectral information from Landsat satellite *** used regression analysis to develop the *** model shows how SMI from satellite depends on LST,NDVI,DEM,Slope,and Aspect in the agricultural *** results of the model were correlated with the ground SM data in Tuv *** results indicate that there is a good agreement between output SM and SM of ground truth for agricultural *** research is focused on moisture mapping for different natural zones in *** innovative part of this research is to estimate SM using drivers which are vegetation,land surface temperature,elevation,aspect,and slope in the forested steppe *** integrative methodology can be applied for different regions with forest and desert steppe zones.

目的建立多叶棘豆中7个苷类化合物的定量分析方法。方法以山奈酚-3-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷、异鼠李素-3-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷、(3R,4R)-4,7-二羟基-2’,3’-二甲氧基黄烷-4’-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷、3-羟基苯甲醇-4-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷、6-甲氧基香豆素-7-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷、2-羟基-6-甲氧基苯乙酮-4-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷和苯乙酮-4-O-β-D-葡萄糖苷为评价指标,采用HPLC对不同产地多叶棘豆进行定量分析。色谱柱:Topsil C18(250 mm×4.6 mm,5μm);流动相:乙腈-水,梯度洗脱;检测波长:261 nm;流速:1.0 mL·min–1;柱温为30℃;进样量为20μL。结果7个苷类化合物在一定范围内均具有较好的线性关系(r>0.9992),其平均回收率分别为96.0%,97.0%,98.7%,96.0%,96.0%,97.7%,98.0%,RSD均<2.0%。被检测成分的含量变化分别为0.192~0.310,0.215~0.325,0.504~0.753,0.128~0.398,0.151~0.217,0.354~0.550,0.132~0.385 mg·g–1。结论本实验所建立的含量测定方法可为综合评价该药材质量提供参考。

通过气相色谱、红外光谱分析和量子化学计算,探究溶于二甲基亚砜(DMSO)中乙酸保留时间发生波动的原因。结果显示,乙酸保留时间变化与DMSO体积等量递增呈线性关系,R;=0.99301;根据红外光谱分析得出,DMSO和乙酸之间生成了氢键,以DMSO-乙酸分子的形式通过色谱柱;根据Gaussian09程序计算结果,DMSO电子密度大的部分给予电子,与乙酸之间形成了氢键,而DMSO电子密度小的部分容易获得电子与具有强偶极矩的色谱柱固定液聚乙二醇产生作用力,吸附在固定液上。因此,在上述一系列复杂的分子间作用力的共同影响下,乙酸保留时间发生了波动,且随着溶剂DMSO体积比增加,乙酸保留时间不断延长。
