All th.se f.nctions are critical in th. establish.ent of.a successf.l pregnancy. Wh.n th. embryo is in transit th.ough.th. f., th. f. microenvironment ch.nges th.ough.endocrine, paracrine, autocrine, and juxtacrine mech.nisms wh.ch.involve various h.rmones and bioactive substances mainly f.om th. neigh.oring cells. Th.ref.re, th. interactions between th. embryo and th. f. may be th. earliest embryo-maternal communications th.t are essential f.r th. establish.ent of.pregnancy. Th.s review critically discusses th. evidence of.various h.rmonal and bioactive mediated control of.th. microenvironment in th. f.s during th. earliest embryo-maternal communications. Moreover, we h.gh.igh. existing gaps in th. knowledge and th. importance of.exploring more of.th. ph.siology of.f.s wh.ch.will h.ld th. key to producing h.gh.quality embryos f.r patients seekingin vitro f.rtilization (IVf. treatments.

Th. current study was perf.rmed to evaluate th. liver f.nction status as well as molecular ch.racterization of.th. recovered worms in rats experimentally inf.cted with.f. h.patica. Sixteen male Wister rats aged 30 days were randomly allocated into two groups (n = 8). Th. f.rst group was inf.cted orally with.15 viable encysted metacercaria of.f. h.patica per animal. Th. oth.r group was kept non-inf.cted (control group). At zero time (bef.re inf.ction), th. 2nd, 4th./sup>, 6th./sup>, 8th./sup>, 10th./sup>, 12th./sup> and 14th./sup> weeks post-inf.ction (WPI), blood and serum samples were collected via puncture of.retro-orbital plexus of.veins f.om each.rat. Serum enzyme level (AST and ALT) and total protein were measured, and th. serum protein prof.le was carried out using agarose gel electroph.resis. During th. period of.th. experiment, serum ALT and AST activities and serum total globulins signif.cantly increased wh.le serum total proteins and albumin markedly decreased in th. inf.cted group. On th. 14th./sup> WPI, th. data of.th. electroph.rogram sh.wed th.t globulin f.actions (α1-, β- and γ-globulin) levels were signif.cantly increased wh.le α2-globulin was markedly decreased in th. inf.cted group. Th. molecular analysis conf.rmed th. amplif.cation of.th. ITS1, ITS2 and NDI genes of.f. h.patica recovered f.om th. inf.cted liver of.rats with.amplicon sizes of.630, 510 and 560 bp, respectively. Sequencing of.th. amplif.ed ITS gene resulted in th. determination of.3 strains (PP108836, PP108837, and PP108838). Also, analysis of.th. ITS2 gene resulted in obtaining 3 isolates under th. accession numbers (PP109065, PP109066, and PP109067). In conclusion, f.sciolosis in th. rat model is suitable f.r routine experimental inf.ctions and caused a pronounced liver dysf.nction with.disch.rging of.th. f.sciola eggs in th. f.eces and th. development of.adult stages in th. bile ducts. f.rth.rmore, molecular tech.iques are a sensitive
