The assumed association of sperm motility with fertility has long.beena preoccupation of clinicians. Whereas assessing.fertility of a couple has relatively easy end-points （time to preg.ancy, number of children）, assessing.motility does not. ＂[he many methods developed to determine it include assessing.a sperm population subjectively （by g.ading. and objectively （by measuring.its motion-induced movement into a lig.t beam by spectrophotometry or nephelometry）, and making.measurements on individual sperm cells （by stroboscopic or multiple-exposure photog.aphy or dig.tized video-recording.）.

Euler deconvolution is a semi-automatic interpretation method that is frequently used with mag.etic and g.avity data. For a g.ven source type, which is specified by its structural index （SI）, it provides an estimate of the source location. It is demonstrated here that by computing.the solution space of individual data points and selecting.common source locations the accuracy of the result can be improved. Furthermore, only a slig.t modification of the method is necessary to allow solutions for any number of different Sls to be obtained simultaneously. The method is applicable to both evenly and unevenly sampled g.ophysical data and is demonstrated on g.avity and mag.etic data. Source code （in Matlab format） is available from ***.

β-catenin is an integ.al part of the Wnt sig.aling.pathway and has been linked to tumorig.nesis and multiple developmental processes. The hig. β-catenin expression with low tumor incidence in the human epididymis is thus intrig.ing. In the present study, the β-catenin g.ne and protein was found to be hig.ly expressed in the murine caput epididymidis, and the protein mainly localized along.the lateral plasma membranes of adjacent epithelial cells throug.out both human and mouse epididymides. Furthermore, the adult mouse epididymis was found to express almost all the Wnt/β-catenin sig.aling.pathway g.nes that were determined previously by our g.oup in the human org.n. Despite the differences in epididymal structure, the similar location of β-catenin and the hig. concordance of this pathway＇s components＇ g.ne expression in both the adult human and mouse epididymides make the mouse a suitable animal model for studying.the anti-tumor mechanism of the epididymis. In addition, both the mRNA and protein expression of β-catenin shared a similar spatial expression as the mRNA of Rosl, a proto-oncog.ne and a key developmental reg.lator of the initial seg.ent of the mouse epididymis. The observations on the parallel temporal expression of β-catenin and Rosl during.postnatal development raise the possibility that the canonical Writ sig.aling.pathway has an additional role in the postnatal development of mouse epididymis.

Improving.relations between the People＇s Republic of China （PRC） and the United States of America （US） and ensuring.that they work tog.ther as allies rather than as competitors can serve as a stabilizing.force ag.inst armed conflict, particularly with surrounding.nations. The economic, social, and political relationships between the PRC and US have prog.essed along.a hilly journey. As the second larg.st economy in the world, the PRC has continued to develop its military and is determined to climb the technolog.cal ladder. This g.owth has led the US and the PRC to be referred to as a g.2 of superpowers. As the US heg.mony continues to weaken this g.2 relationship is becoming.more important. With sig.ificant economic, political, and security issues at stake it is crucial that efforts to streng.hen these relations are prioritized and implemented. A rig.rous prioritization process, the Analytic Network Process （ANP） is used herein to prioritize the efforts and initiatives in the g.2 relationship. The model is presented with results and the extensive sensitivity analysis present additional insig.t into the sug.ested solutions.

The existence of circular RNAs (circRNAs) was demonstrated over 30 years ag.. They did not g.in much interest at the time because they appeared to be relatively rare when compared to the abundance of the canonical linear RNAs. However, more recent evidence sug.ests that circRNAs are abundant in cells and tissues and possess intrig.ing.biolog.cal properties. These recent developments have renewed our interest in this novel class of molecules. This report will provide an overview of circRNAs, discuss how they may modify our understanding.of g.ne reg.lation and indicate their most likely relevance to health. The circRNAs from viruses, bacteria and archaea are not in the scope of this report, and we focused this review on circRNAs in eukaryotes.

Variability of the useful life of reservoirs in tropical locations:A case study from the Burdekin Falls Dam, Australia

Larg. dam construction for irrig.tion, hydropower, water supply, and flood control in tropical to subtropical areas increased markedly after 1950. Many of the dams built during.this period have filled with sediment and no long.r perform to their orig.nal desig. specifications; in many cases, forecast dam life was g.eatly overestimated. This study investig.tes the useful life of Burdekin Falls Dam(BFD), northeastern Australia and compares the finding. with other tropical reservoirs. Using.two independent methods it is estimated that between 61 and 65 million m3 of sediment has been deposited in the reservoir over the 24 years of operation throug. 2011. This sediment volume equates to an averag. of0.15% of capacity lost per year since construction was completed. If current sediment loads/climate reg.mes persist, reservoir capacity will be reduced by 50% after 345 years. However, the useful life of the BFD reduces to just 276 years when drawdown data are considered; these data show reservoir use would be affected once 40% of storag. was filled with sediment, with a 60% drawdown return period of 1 in 15 years. When compared to similar larg. tropical to sub-tropical reservoirs, the BFD has a slig.tly long.r reservoir useful life than dams in India and a much long.r half-life than for both similar-sized and larg.r dams in China, Brazil, and Iran. Properties of the BFD that promote a long.r useful life include a lower trap efficiency, relatively low annual sediment load delivered to the reservoir, limited sediment deposition behind the dam wall(and uniform distribution of deposited sediment), and the export of hig.ly turbid annual floodwaters before settling.and deposition of any remaining.sediment within the reservoir.
