Biomass accumulation of Panax vietnamensis in cell suspension cultures varies with addition of plant growth regulators and organic additives

Objective: To evaluate the impact of plant growth regulators including kinetin(KN),benzyl adenine and naphthalene acetic acid, yeast extract and casein hydrolyzate on biomass accumulation of Vietnamese ginseng Panax vietnamensis(P. vietnamensis) in cell suspension ***: Cell suspension cultures were established from friable calluses derived from leaves and petioles of 3-year-old in-vitro P. vietnamensis plants. The cell suspension cultures were grown in Murashige and Skoog basal media supplemented with various concentrations of KN, benzyl adenine, naphthalene acetic acid, and yeast extract and casein ***: All tested factors generated an increase in the cell biomass of P. vietnamensis in suspension culture, but the impact of each varies depended on the factor type, concentration, and incubation period. Addition of 2.0 mg/L KN resulted in the largest biomass increase after 24 d,(57.0 ± 0.9) and(3.1 ± 0.1) mg/m L fresh and dry weight, respectively,whereas addition of benzyl adenine or naphthalene acetic acid produced optimum levels of Panax cell biomass at 1.0 and 1.5 mg/L, respectively. Addition of the elicitor yeast extract led to a 1.4–2.4 fold increase in biomass of P. vietnamensis, while addition of casein hydrolyzate enhanced biomass accumulation 1.8–2.6 ***: The addition of each factor causes significant changes in biomass accumulation of P. vietnamensis. The largest biomass accumulation is from cultures grown in MS media containing 2.0 mg/L KN for 24 d. The outcome of the present study provides new insights into the optimal suspension culture conditions for studies on the in vitro cell biomass production of P. vietnamensis.

Enhancement of Performance of Organic Light Emitting Diodes by Using Ti- and Mo-Oxide Nano Hybrid Layers

Nanorod-like TiO2 (nc-TiO2) and MoO3 (nc-MoO3) films were thermally grown from Ti- and Mo-metallic wafers. Nanohybrid films of N,N’-diphenyl-N,N’-bis(1-naphthyl)(1,1’-biphenyl)-4,4’diamine (NPB)/TiO2 and NPB/MoO3 used as anode/hole transport layer (HTL) heterojunctions in blue organic light emission diodes (OLEDs) were prepared by coating NPB onto the nc-TiO2 and nc-MoO3 and TiO2. Characterization of the nanostructured hybrid layers showed that both the photoluminescent property and current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the hybrid materials were significantly enhanced in comparison with the standard NPB polymer. The electroluminous efficiency of the hybrid devices was considerably enhanced in comparison with the standard device. this suggests a useful application for fabricating “reverse” OLEDs, where the emission light goes-out through the semitransparent cathode, instead of the indium tin oxide (ITO) anode. For this, the ohmic contacts of conducting wires to metallic electrodes can be made much better than to ITO anodes.

Effect of Wing Kinematics Modulation on Aerodynamic Force Generation in Hovering Insect-mimicking Flapping-wing Micro Air Vehicle

We investigated the effect of wing kinematics modulation, which was achieved by adjusting the location of trailing-edge constraint at the wing-root, i.e., by adjusting the wing-root offset, on the generation of aerodynamic forces in a hovering in- sect-mimicking Flapping-Wing Micro Air Vehicle （FW-MAV） by numerical and experimental studies. Three-dimensional wing kinematics measured using three synchronized high-speed cameras revealed a clear difference in the wing rotation angle of a wing section for different wing-root offsets. The extrapolated wing kinematics were in good agreement with the measured ones for various wing-root offsets. The Unsteady Blade Element Theory （UBET） was used to estimate the forces generated by the flapping wings and validated by comparison with results of measurements performed using a load cell. Although the thrust produced by a flapping wing with a wing-root offset of 0.20 c was about 4% less, its force-to-input-power ratio was about 30% and 10% higher than those with the offsets of 0.10 c and 0.15 c, respectively. this result could be explained by analyzing the effective Angle of Attack （AoA） and the force components computed by the UBET. Thus, a flapping wing with a wing-root offset of 0.20 c can be regarded as an optimal twist configuration for the development of the FW-MAV.

Seasonal Effects of Backscattering Intensity of ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 (L-Band) on Retrieval Forest Biomass in the Tropics

this research has used the L-band radar from ALOS-2 PALSAR-2 and field work data for evaluation of seasonal effects of backscattering intensity on retrieval forest biomass in the tropics. The effects of seasonality and HH, and HV polarizations of the SAR data on the biomass were analyzed. The dry season HV polarization could explain 61% of the biomass in this study region. The dry season HV backscattering intensity was highly sensitive to the biomass compared to the rainy season backscattering intensity. The SAR data acquired in the rainy season with humid and wet canopies were not very sensitive to the in situ biomass. Strong dependence of the biomass estimates with season of SAR data acquisition confirmed that the choice of right season SAR data is very important for improving the satellite based estimates of the biomass. this research expects that the results obtained in this research will contribute to monitoring of the quantity and quality of forest biomass in Vietnam and other tropical countries.

Improving the accuracy of flood prediction and mapping is crucial for reducing damage resulting from flood *** this study,we proposed and validated three ensemble models based on the Best First Decision Tree(BFT)and the Bagging(Bagging-BFT),Decorate(Bagging-BFT),and Random Subspace(RSS-BFT)ensemble learning techniques for an improved prediction of flood susceptibility in a spatially-explicit manner.A total number of 126 historical flood events from the Nghe An Province(Vietnam)were connected to a set of 10 flood influencing factors(slope,elevation,aspect,curvature,river density,distance from rivers,flow direction,geology,soil,and land use)for generating the training and validation *** models were validated via several performance metrics that demonstrated the capability of all three ensemble models in elucidating the underlying pattern of flood occurrences within the research area and predicting the probability of future flood *** on the Area Under the receiver operating characteristic Curve(AUC),the ensemble Decorate-BFT model that achieved an AUC value of 0.989 was identified as the superior model over the RSS-BFT(AUC=0.982)and Bagging-BFT(AUC=0.967)models.A comparison between the performance of the models and the models previously reported in the literature confirmed that our ensemble models provided a reliable estimate of flood susceptibilities and their resulting susceptibility maps are trustful for flood early warning systems as well as development of mitigation plans.

The Characteristics of CLHS Driving for High Luminance Efficiency in AC PDP

this paper proposes a CLHS （Capacitor Less Half Sustain） driving method that is applied to a long gap panel to reduce the power consumption. In order to reduce the power consumption in moving images, the luminous efficiency should be improved at the low discharge load （〈25%）. The weight of reactive power consumption tends to increase as the low discharge load decreases. Thus, it is very important to improve the luminous efficiency at low discharge load. It is well known that a long gap panel improves the luminance and the luminous efficiency but it is very difficult to drive the panel due to high driving voltage. It is confirmed that the main factors which cause a long gap panel to increase the minimum driving voltages are not only a long discharge gap but also self-erasing discharge. Self-erasing discharge is generated between the address and sustain electrodes in a sustain period. The CLHS driving method can reduce the reactive power consumption in a sustain period because energy recovery capacitors were removed in the sustain circuit. The CLHS driving method can reduce the minimum driving voltage of the long gap panel because the self-erasing discharge was prevented. When the CLHS driving method was applied to the panel with an ITO gap of 100 μm, Vs and VA minimum voltages are reduced by about 9 V and 12 V compared with those of the normal driving method. The luminance and the luminous efficiency also increased by about 24.3% and 33.3% at the discharge load of 4% compared with those at the normal condition.

How knowledge of hepatitis B disease and vaccine influences vaccination practices among parents in Ho chi Minh City, Vietnam

Objective:To assess the influences of the knowledge of parents about hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection and the benefit of HBV vaccination on the practice of HBV vaccination among ***:A prospective cross-sectional study recruited parents whose children,aged 12-24 months,received HBV vaccination at Commune Health Centers(CHCs)in Ho chi Minh City from Feb.2016 to *** were interviewed using a questionnaire that included 11-item binary knowledge questions and checked their children’s vaccination ***:A total of 768 parents had a mean age of(30.8±5.1)*** mean knowledge score of the 11-item questions was(7.0±2.4).The knowledge score was positively associated with full and timely HBV *** addition,children who received complete and timely HBV vaccination were significantly more likely to live in rural areas(Adjusted OR 4.02,95%CI 2.79-5.79,Pchildren whose parents received vaccination information from health care providers,and had knowledge about HBV risk,had a higher rate of full and timely HBV vaccination(Adjusted OR 1.60,95%CI 1.13-2.29,and Adjusted OR 1.47,95%CI 1.01-2.13,P all<0.05).Conclusions:Parents possessed a great deal of incorrect knowledge about *** health education from health care providers should target parents living in specific locations and focus on the benefits of HBV vaccine.

this paper presents the calibration of a neutron dose rate meter and the evaluation of its calibration factors(CFs)in several neutron standard fields(i.e.,two standard fields with bare sources of252Cf and241Am-Be,and five simulated workplace fields with241Am-Be moderated sources).The calibration in standard fields with bare sources was conducted by following the recommendations of the ISO 8529 *** measured total neutron ambient dose equivalent rates,denoted as H*(10)tot,were analyzed to obtain direct components,denoted as H*(10)dir,using a reduced fitting *** CF was then calculated as the ratio between the conventional true value of the neutron ambient dose equivalent rate in a free field,denoted as H*(10)FF,and the value of H*(10)*** contrast,in the simulated workplace neutron fields,the calibration of the neutron dose rate meter was conducted by following the ISO 12789 *** CF was calculated as the ratio between the values of H*(10)totmeasured by a standard instrument(i.e.,Bonner sphere spectrometer)and the neutron dose rate *** CF values were obtained in the range of 0.88–*** standard uncertainties(k=1)of the CFs were determined to be in the range of approximately 6.6–13.1%.

Ethnicity might be associated with treatment outcomes in advanced prostate *** study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of androgen deprivation therapy(ADT)combined with apalutamide in East Asians with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer(mCSPC).The original phase 3 Targeted Investigational Treatment Analysis of Novel Anti-androgen(TITAN)trial was conducted at 260 sites in 23 *** subgroup analysis included patients enrolled in 62 participating centers in china,Japan,and *** progression-free survival(PFS),time to prostate-specific antigen(PSA)progression,and PSA changes from baseline were compared between groups in the East Asian *** intent-to-treat East Asian population included 111 and 110 participants in the apalutamide and placebo groups,*** 24-month radiographic PFS rates were 76.1%and 52.3%in the apalutamide and placebo groups,respectively(apalutamide vs placebo:hazard ratio[HR]=0.506;95%confidence interval[CI],0.302–0.849;P=0.009).Median time to PSA progression was more favorable with apalutamide than placebo(HR=0.210;95%CI,0.124–0.357;P<0.001).Median maximum percentages of PSA decline from baseline were 99.0%and 73.9%in the apalutamide and placebo groups,*** most common adverse event(AE)was rash in the apalutamide group,with a higher rate than that in the placebo group(37.3%vs 9.1%).The most common grade 3 or 4 AEs were rash(12[10.9%])and hypertension(12[10.9%])for *** efficacy and safety of apalutamide in the East Asian subgroup of the TITAN trial are consistent with the global results.
