20-Hydroxyecdysone from Dacrycarpus imbricatus bark inhibits the proliferation of acute myeloid leukemia cells

The Bi-Tm co-doped SiO-AlO-LaO(SAL) glasses,which exhibited a broadband near-infrared emission was investigated by the optical absorption and photoluminescence *** super broadband near-infrared emission from 1000 to 2100 nm,covering the whole O,E,S,C,and L bands,was observed in the Bi-Tm co-doped samples,as a result of the overlap of the Bi-related emission band(centered at 1270 nm) and the emission from Tm H→F transition(1440 nm) as well as Tm F→H transition(1800 nm).Relative luminescence intensity at 1270,1440 and 1800 nm wavelength varies depending on the mixing ratio of Bi and Tm,and the full width at half-maximum(FWHM) extending from 1000 to 1600 could be 400 *** results indicated that Bi-Tm co-doped SiO-AlO-LaO glasses could provide potential applications in tunable lasers as well as the broadband optical amplifiers in WDM system.

Objective:To investigate the anti-proliferative effects of 20-hydroxyecdysone isolated from the bark of Dacrycarpus imbricatus(Blume) de ***:Column chromatography was used for isolation of compounds from plant *** structure of the isolated compound was identified by mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques,including HSQC,HMBC,NOE-difference *** isolated compound was tested for its anti-proliferative activity in acute myeloid leukemia(AML) and OCI-AML ***:Compound 1 was isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of Dacrycarpus imbricatus barks by column *** chemical structure was identified as 20-hydroxyecdysone(20HE),a cholestane-type ecdysteroid,by a combination of mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometric *** goal was to test the anti-proliferative activity of 20 HE using the OCI-AML cell line.20 HE significantly decreased OCI cell number at a concentration of 1 mg/mL,whereas lower concentrations were ***,this decrease was due to partial blockage of the G_1/S phase of the cell cycle,with a reduction of cells in the G_2M phase,not due to increased ***:This indicates that 20 HE significantly decreases the number of cells in the G_1/S phase of the cell cycle in human AML *** is the first time that the anti-proliferative activity of 20 HE against a human tumor cell line has been reported.

The p-n junction GaN diodes were all fabricated by sputtering technique with cermet targets for p- and n-type GaN and metal targets for electrodes. The interface of these p-n junction GaN diodes examined by high-resolution transition electron microscopy was clear and distinguishable. Lattice images identified the complete dissolution of Mg into the Ga site. At the room temperature, the diode had the turn-on voltage of 2.2 V, the leakage current of 2.2 × 10–7 A, the breakdown voltage of –6 V, the barrier height of 0.56 eV, ideality factor of 5.0 by I (current)-V (voltage) test and 5.2 derived from the Cheungs’ method, and series resistance of 560 Ω. These electrical properties were investigated at different testing temperatures from room temperature to 200°C. The temperature dependence in the I-V characteristics of the p-n diodes can be successfully explained on the basis of thermionic-emission mode.

Characteristics of Filtered Neutron Beam Energy Spectra at Dalat Reactor

Filtered neutron technique was applied for producing quasi-monoenergetic neutron beams of 24 keV, 54 keV, 133 keV and 148 keV at the horizontal neutron channel No. 4 of the Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor. The study on physical characteristics of these beam lines has been carried out for efficient applications in neutron capture experiments. The filtered neutron spectrum of each beam has been simulated by Monte-Carlo method and experimentally measured by a gas-filled protonrecoil spectrometer. The neutron fluxes of these filtered beams were measured by the activation technique with standard foils of 197Au, using a high efficient HPGe digital gamma-ray spectrometer.

石蝴蝶属(Petrocosmea Oliv.)植物的现代分布与分化中心位于中国的西南山地以及周边国家和地区,如印度(阿萨姆邦)、缅甸、泰国、越南等也有分布。近年来,中国和中南半岛上各个国家和地区的新分类群和国家级新记录层出不穷,进一步加深了研究人员对中国和中南半岛植物区系以及该属植物在上述区域的多样性的理解。例如,滇黔石蝴蝶\[Petrocosmea martinii (H. Léveillé) H. Léveillé\]和丝毛石蝴蝶(P. sericea C.Y. Wu ex H. W. Li)曾被认为是中国的特有种,前者分布于贵州、广西北部和云南东南部,而后者仅见于云南东南部。该文报道了这两种石蝴蝶属植物的越南国家级分布新记录。这两个新记录种的发现,使得越南分布的石蝴蝶属植物种的数量上升到了5种,这些新记录种的报道或暗示未来在与中国西南山地邻近的地区还将会有更多该属的新分类群或新记录有待发现。该文还同时提供了这两个国家级分布新记录物种的描述、图示、濒危等级现状评价以及目前所有越南已知分布的石蝴蝶属植物的检索表以备检索和核对。

The up-conversion of Er3＋/yb3＋ co-doped transparent glass-ceramics 50SiO2-10A1F3-5TiO2-30BaF2-4LaF3-0.5ErF3-0.5YbF3 containing Ba2LaF7 nanocrystals under the changing of heat treatment temperature and time were investigated. The Ba2LaF7 nanocrystals precipitated from the glass matrix was confirmed by X-ray diffraction （XRD）. The structural investigation carried out by XRD and trans- mission electron microscopy （TEM） evidenced the formation of cubic Ba2LaF7 nanocrystals with crystal size of about 14 nm. Comparing with the samples before heat treatment, the high efficiency up-conversion emission of Er3＋/Yb3＋ co-doped samples was observed in the glass-ceramics under 980 nm laser diode excitation. The increase in red emission intensity bands was stronger than the green bands when the crystal size increased. The mechanism for the up-conversion process in the glass-ceramics and the reasons for the increase of Er3＋/yb3＋ co-doped up-conversion intensity after heat treatment were discussed.

中越边境喀斯特地区有着异乎寻常的植物多样性,已经成为全球生物多样性研究和保护的热点区域,近年来在该区发现了多个苦苣苔科植物的新种或新属。凹柱苣苔属是2010年才被建立的新属,该属的花与叶相比,花较大,叶相对较小,叶片边缘稍外卷,花序仅单花,柱头盘状或凹坑状,蒴果长椭球形而有别于苦苣苔科的其他属。凹柱苣苔属为喀斯特专性植物,目前仅包括分布于黔西南的凹柱苣苔和分布于滇东南的水晶凹柱苣苔两个物种。作者在开展中越边境喀斯特地区植物多样性调查时,在越南北部的河江省发现了水晶凹柱苣苔,基于该新发现居群的植物标本,对其进行了补充描述,确认其花期为11月—12月,并对该物种濒危状况进行了重新评估,同时提供了野外生态照片以资辨认。目前,越南已记录苦苣苔科植物32属150余种,凹柱苣苔属在越南北部的发现,不仅丰富了该国苦苣苔科植物的多样性,再一次充分证明了中越边境喀斯特地区是一个完整的植物区系地理单元,而且为稀有的水晶凹柱苣苔提供了更加丰富的野外本底资料,对其将来的深入研究和保护具有重要的生物地理学和保护生物学意义。

Aim:Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)are an excellent potential source of cells for bone tissue engineering due to their excellent renewal ability and osteogenic differentiation *** study was designed to evaluate the bone formation properties of a demineralized cancellous bone scaffold seeded with MSCs,with or without periosteum,in a critical size bone defect model in ***:Rabbit culture-expanded bone marrow(BM)-MSCs were seeded onto a human demineralized cancellous bone(HDCB)*** defects measuring 15 mm in length were created in each radius.A total of 56 bone defects in 28 rabbits were randomly assigned to one of the 4 groups for scaffold implantation:Group 1:HDCB graft only;Group 2:periosteum-wrapped HDCB graft;Group 3:HDCB graft seeded with BM-MSCs and Group 4:periosteum-wrapped HDCB graft seeded with *** rabbits were sacrificed 12 weeks after surgery for gross observation,radiological assessment,histological analyses and biomechanical ***:New bone(NB)formation and bone healing were successfully achieved,both radiologically and histologically,on demineralized cancellous bone graft seeded with *** were improved when BM-MSCs were associated with ***:This study demonstrates that repair of bone defects in a rabbit model can be achieved through bone grafting using BM-MSCs,implanted on a demineralized cancellous bone *** formation of NB was optimized when combined with the preservation of periosteum at the site of injury.
