Current Status of <i>m. hyopneum.niae</i>in Pigs in Grenada, West Indies

m.coplasm. hyopneum.niae, cause of enzootic pneum.nia is known for serious econom.c losses in pigs. The disease is prevalent all over the world. There is no published report on m.coplasm. hyopneum.niae incidence in Grenadian pigs. The aim.of this study was to estim.te seroprevalence of antibodies for m.coplasm. hyopneum.niae in non vaccinated pigs in Grenada. Sera were collected random.y from.459 pigs of all ages from.all six parishes of Grenada. Sera were tested for antibodies to m.coplasm. hyopneum.niae using an indirect Enzym. Linked Im.unosorbant Assay (ELISA) kit. Antibodies to m.coplasm. hyopneum.niae were found in 8.71% (95% CI: 0.0644 to 0.1167) pigs. The greatest percent of positives (62.5%) (95% CI: 0.4699 to 0.7582) were in youngest group 22.5% (95% CI: 0.1211 to 0.3771) in >2 year. Positive fem.les were overrepresented com.ared to m.les by 3:1. This is the first report on the sero-prevalence of m.coplasm. hyopneum.niae in pigs from.Grenada, West Indies.

Postpartum.involution is the process by which the lactating m.m.ary gland returns to the pre-pregnant state after weaning. Expression of tum.r-prom.tional collagen, upregulation of m.trix m.talloproteinases, infiltration of m. m.crophages, and rem.deling of blood and lym.hatic vasculature are all characteristics shared by the involuting m.m.ary gland and breast tum.r m.croenvironm.nt. The tum.r prom.tional nature of the involuting m.m.ary gland is perhaps best evidenced by cases of postpartum.breast cancer (PPBC), or those cases diagnosed within 10 years of m.st recent childbirth. Wom.n with PPBC experience m.re aggressive disease and higher risk of m.tastasis than nulliparous patients and those diagnosed outside the postpartum.window. Sem.phorin 7a (SEm.7A), cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), and collagen are all expressed in the involuting m.m.ary gland and, together, predict for decreased m.tastasis free survival in breast cancer. Studies investigating the role of these proteins in involution have been im.ortant for understanding their contributions to PPBC. Postpartum.involution thus represents a valuable m.del for the identification of novel m.lecular drivers of PPBC and classical cancer hallm.rks. In this review, we will highlight the sim.larities between involution and cancer in the m.m.ary gland, and further define the contribution of SEm.7A/COX-2/collagen interplay to postpartum.involution and breast tum.r progression and m.tastasis.

近年来,海绵城市的概念逐步受到重视,其中遵循生态优先原则,合理利用雨水资源缓解热岛效应已经成为城市基础设施设计者尤为关注的方向。现有研究表明:全球气温上升给人们安全和健康带来的挑战日趋严重。而混凝土由于具有较高的热储存能力及较低的热传导能力,已成为城市热岛效应的主要来源之一。此外土壤封闭层的大量使用也可导致城市内部区域温度上升。为了缓解这种所谓的城市热岛效应,自冷式混凝土路面应运而生。这种路面不仅能够储存水分,还能利用水在蒸发过程中的吸热作用提供冷却效果。该文主要评价这种新型路面降低路表及周围温度的能力,利用一系列的室内试验检测新型路面的自冷性能。为了验证其实的应用效果,在西班牙设置两块试验场地(12m.8m.铺筑自冷式路面和对照路面,进而研究了空气温度和自冷式路面表面降低温度之间的关系。

We report the case of a 4- year-old girl with winged scapula. An osteochondrom. of the m.dial side of the scapula could be diagnosed as one cause. Furtherm.re, we found an irritation of the n. thoracicus longus, which was reversible after excision of the osteochondrom.. In our case report, a m.chanical irritation led to the lesion of the long thoracic nerve. To our knowledge there has not been a case reported like this before. It shows that it is essential to consider the various differential diagnoses of winged scapula. A first step in the diagnostic approach is to differentiate between m.chanical and dynam.c winged scapula.
