.Objectives: To measure phosphorus metabolites in human parotid glands by 31P-MRS using three-dimensional chemical-shift imaging (3D-CSI), and ascertain whether this method can capture changes in adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and phosphocreatine (PCr) levels due to saliva secretion. Study Design: The parotid glands of 20 volunteers were assessed by 31P-MRS using 3D-CSI on 3T MRI. After obtaining a first (baseline) measurement, the participants took vitamin-C tablets and measurements were obtained twice more, in a continuous manner. The peak area ratios of PCr and β-ATP were evaluated. Results: A high proportion of PCr (0.26 ± 0.08) and ATP (α: 0.16 ± 0.06;β: 0.27 ± 0.06;γ: 0.21 ± 0.03) was noted at baseline. A significant decrease in β-ATP was observed between baseline (“pre”;0.27 ± 0.06) and the first scan after vitamin-C stimulation (“post-1”;0.19 ± 0.07, p < 0.05). There was a near-significant decrease in PCr between pre (0.26 ± 0.08) and post-1 (0.23 ± 0.06, p = 0.074). Conclusions: 31P-MRS with 3D-CSI can assess the major phosphorus metabolites in human parotid glands and capture changes in their levels due to saliva secretion. This technique is simple, non-invasive, and provides new information regarding saliva secretion.

Proteomic Analysis of Celecoxib on Chondrocytes from Patients with Osteoarthritis

Objective: To study a comprehensive proteomic analysis of celecoxib in oseteoarthritis (OA) chondrocytes. Methods: OA chondrocytes were stimulated with celecoxib, IL-1β and IL-1β together with celecoxib. Proteins were extracted from the cells and subjected to 2-dimensional differential image gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE). Proteins of interest were identified by mass spectrometry. Results: Eighty-six protein spots showed significantly different intensities with each reagent or reagent combination. AAA+ protein, HSP47/Serpin, cAMP-dependent protein kinase type II-beta regulatory subunit, alpha-actin-4 and tubulin decreased with the addition of celecoxib, while apolipoprotein A-V, glutamate carboxipeptide 2, mitochondrial stress-70 protein, sorting nexin-9 and GRP78 increased with the addition of celecoxib. GRP78 is a stress protein and may be chondroprotective. Celecoxib modulated IL-1β stimulated chondrocytes, and CD200R and moesin were identified as such resulting proteins. Conclusion: Protein profiles of OA chondrocytes changed after administration of celecoxib. Further investigation is needed to elucidate the function of each protein in OA chondrocytes.

中国古代文人的诗歌创作,往往有着历史性的贯通与联系。乐府诗亦是如此。在本文中,作者将通过对比分析魏文帝曹丕、西晋的陆机、刘宋的谢灵运三位诗人分别创作的《上留田行》,阐明三部作品间继承与影响的关系。同时,作者也希望能够解析《上留田行》的内容变迁与身处不同时代的作者命运之间的密切联系,以此尝试构筑乐府诗发展微史,还原乐府诗创作变迁的若干细节,并最终对陆机的乐府诗创作进行重新定位。

Phase-Plane Invariant Analysis of Pressure Fluctuations in Fluidized Beds

Partial agglomeration is a major problem in fluidized beds. A chaotic analytical method based on the phase-plane invariant of the pressure fluctuations in the fluidized beds has been used to warn of agglomeration at an early stage. Cold tests （no combustion） and hot tests （combustion） in fluidized beds show that the phase-plane invariant of the pressure fluctuations can distinguish the dynamic behavior of fluidized beds with different flow rates in cold tests. With combustion, when the flow rate was kept constant, agglomeration was detected very early by looking at the phase-plane invariant. The phase-plane invariant can be used to distinguish changes in fluidized beds due to changes in the flow rate, agglomeration, or various other factors. Therefore, this reliable agglomeration early warning system can be used for better control of circulating fluidized beds.

The identification of activity locations in con- tinuous GPS trajectories is an essential preliminary step in obtaining person trip data and for activity-based trans- portation demand forecasting. In this research, a two-step methodology for identifying activity stop locations is pro- posed. In the first step, an improved density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise （DBSCAN） algorithm identifies stop points and moving points; then in the second step, the support vector machines （SVMs） method distin- guishes activity stops from non-activity stops among the identified stop points. A time sequence constraint and a direction change constraint are applied as improvements to DBSCAN （yielding an improved algorithm known as C-DBSCAN）. Then three major features are extracted for use in the SVMs method： stop duration, mean distance to the centroid of a cluster of points at a stop location, and the shorter of distances from current location to home and to the workplace. The proposed methodology was tested using GPS data collected from mobile phones in the Nagoya area of Japan. The C-DBSCAN algorithm achieves an accuracy of 90 % in identifying stop points in the first step, while the SVMs method is 96 % accurate in distin- guishing the locations of activity stops from non-activity stops in the second step. Compared to other variants of DBSCAN used to identify activity locations from GPS trajectories, this two-step method is generally superior.
