＜正＞NAL, ISAS and NASDA were merged into Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency （JAXA） on Oct. 1, 2003. The former NAL’s activities on CFD have been succeeded in the activities of Aerospace Research Center （ARC） in JAXA. At NAL, the Numerical Simulator replaced its main computing engine NWT by a scalar processor based supercomputer with 9.3Tflop/s of peak performance and 3.6TB memory in October, 2002. The new computer system NSIII has been designed to promote the research and development activities of numerical simulation aiming at both precise evaluation of the performance and designing of future aircraft and spacecraft. This article describes the hardware and software of the NSIII and some topics of CFD activities executed at ARC.
