Nowadays, in the auto industry, the need for improvement of fuel efficiency is getting increased more and more in terms of the global warming, as well as the need of light-weighting of gears, transmission parts. Hence, we’ve studied the relation between the shot peening working conditions and factors for improvement of gear’s fatigue life, and also the relation between the factors for improvement and the fatigue life, applying shot peening to a gear of SNCM220. Also, we examined the relation between the fatigue life and arc height that is utilized as a substitute characteristic for shot peening working conditions, adding its observation here.

High Speed Twin Roll Casting of Aluminum Alloy Strips

The twin roll caster for aluminum alloys has many a dv antages. For example, rapid solidification, low equipment cost, and low running cost, etc. However, the twin roll caster has some disadvantages. They are slow c asting speed and limitation of alloys. In the conventional twin roll caster, the casting speed is slower than 10 m/min. Aluminum alloys, which freezing range is wide, can not be cast. In the present study, break through of these problems wa s tried, and a new type twin roll caster was devised. A vertical type twin roll caster equipped with a nozzle was devised in order to cast aluminum strips at the speeds higher than 60 m/min. Characteristic features of this caster were vertical type, use of copper rolls, low separating force (n o operation of rolling), no use of lubricant, and equipment of the nozzle. In th e high speed roll casting, feed of molten metal of the vertical type twin roll c aster was easier than that of the conventional horizontal type caster. The use o f the copper rolls made cooling rate higher. The low separating force and the us e of the copper rolls prevented sticking of the strip to the roll. The lubricant was not needed, as the sticking of the strip to the roll did not occur. No use of the lubricant was useful to increase the cooling rate and casting speed of th e strip. The nozzle was used in order to improve contact condition (heat transfe r) between the melt and the rolls by hydrostatic pressure. In the twin roll cast er of the present study, many devices were done to improve the cooling condition of the strip in order to increase the casting speed. It was said that the roll casting of A5182 was very difficult, as freezing zone of A5182 was very wide. However, A5182 strip could be cast at high speeds up to 120 m/min using the twin roll caster of the present study. An efficient implicit lower-upper symmetric Gauss-Seidel(LU-SGS)solution approach has been applied to a high order spectral volume(SV)method for unstructured tetrahedral *** LU-SGS solver is preconditioned by the block element matrix,and the system of equations is then solved with a LU *** compact feature of SV reconstruction facilitates the efficient solution algorithm even for high order *** developed implicit solver has shown more than an order of magnitude of speed-up relative to the Runge-Kutta explicit scheme for typical inviscid and viscous problems.A convergence to a high order solution for high Reynolds number transonic flow over a 3D wing with a one equation turbulence model is also indicated.

The effects of the casting factors such as nozzle size to pour the melt,nozzle height,tilt of the slope and slope length,of the cooling slope on the process to make semisolid slurry were *** results show that these factors affect the behaviors of the semisolid slurry on the cooling *** tilt of the slope is the factor that has major influence on the behavior of the semisolid *** cooling roll is developed from the result of the research of the cooling *** rotating cooling roll can improve the sticking of the semisolid slurry on the substrate and it is suitable for making the semisolid slurry.

In recent years,formation control has received a great deal of attention as one of the most interesting issues in multiple mobile robots *** variable formation control systems,multiple mobile vehicles can form an appropriate formation from a list of possible formations,such that all mobile vehicles can pass even when the width of the course is narrow,and simultaneously the vehicles maintain a set distance between the course and each *** paper presents a predictive-based automatic formation *** our formation control system,a unique formation is determined from feasible formations at any given sampling *** control is formulated by its corresponding mixed-integer quadratic programing by introducing binary variables that are used to specify the *** effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified by applying two-wheeled mobile vehicles through simulations and experiments.

Cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet（YAG：Ce） as a yellow phosphor for white light-emitting diodes（LEDs） was synthesized via a facile combustion method using Y2 O3, CeO2, Al2 O3, Al,and NaClO4 as raw materials. The combustion synthesis approach utilizes the strong exothermic oxidation of aluminum to realize a self-sustaining reaction. In this study, we investigated the effects of the ratios of Al2 O3 to AI,fluxes, and coprecipitated materials as raw materials on the luminescence properties of the synthesized YAG：Ce phosphors. When the amount of Al2 O3 x is varied, the combustion reaction proceeds at x ≤ 1.8,with x = 1.725 being the optimum condition for producing a high-performance product. When 5 wt%BaF2 is added, the luminescence intensity is significantly improved owing to a decrease of YAP（YAlO3）formation with improved uniformity. However, the addition of CaF2 and NaF does not improve the luminescence properties. To suppress the segregation of CeO2, we used the coprecipitated material Y2 O3-CeO2 as a raw material. Unlike with separate addition of Y2 O3 and CeO2, Ce ions are uniformly distributed in the coprecipitated material, resulting in improved luminescence properties. The combination of BaF2 and coprecipitated material significantly improves the internal quantum efficiency to83.0%, which is close to that of commercial phosphors.

Objectives:This study aimed to study the characteristics of in-hospital deterioration in patients with congenital heart disease who required rapid response system activation and identify risk factors associated with 1-month ***:We retrospectively analysed data from a Japanese rapid response system registry with 35 participating *** included consecutive patients with congenital heart disease who required rapid response system activation between January 2014 and March *** regression analyses were performed to examine the associations between 1-month mortality and other patient-specific ***:Among 9,607 patients for whom the rapid response system was activated,only 82(0.9%)had congenital heart *** few patients with congenital heart disease were being treated at the cardiology and cardiovascular surgery departments(12.3%and 9.9%,respectively).Moreover,the incidences of rapid-response events after intensive care unit discharge or surgery were low(6.8% and 12.2%,respectively).The most common reason for rapid response system activation was respiratory dysfunction(desaturation:35.4%,tachypnoea:25.6%,and new dyspnoea:19.5%).Rapid response system interventions and intensive care unit transfers were required for 65.9% and 20.7%of patients,*** mortality rate was 1.2% at the end of the rapid response system intervention and 11.0% after 1 ***,decreased respiratory rate and decreased heart rate at rapid response system activation were associated with increased 1-month *** adjusted odds ratio was 1.10(95% confidence interval 1.02–1.19)and 1.02(95% confidence interval,1.00–1.04) for respiratory rate and heart rate,***:Rapid response systems were rarely activated after cardiac surgery and intensive care unit discharge,which were situations with a high risk of sudden deterioration in patients with congenital heart ***,encouraging the use of the rapid response sys

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) including nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) is globally increasing and has become a world-wide health problem. Chronic infection with hepatitis B virus or hepatitis C virus(HCV) is associated with hepatic steatosis. Viral hepatitis-associated hepatic steatosis is often caused by metabolic syndrome including obesity,type 2 diabetes mellitus and/or dyslipidemia. It has been reported that HCV genotype 3 exerts direct metabolic effects that lead to hepatic steatosis. In this review,the differences between NAFLD/NASH and viral hepatitis-associated steatosis are discussed.

Effect of forest thinning on hydrologic nitrate exports from a Nsaturated plantation

Although several studies have assessed the effects of thinning on water quality,including nitrogen(N)exports,few have examined N-saturated *** study assessed the short-term effect of thinning on N exports from a N-saturated plantation forest in northern Kyushu,western Japan,that was thinned(43%of basal area)during January-March *** levels at the gauging station were continually measured,and streamwater baseflow and stormflow samples were collected before(2011)and after(2013)forest *** precipitation before(2469 mm)and after(2418 mm)forest thinning differed little,and annual water discharge after thinning(1641 mm)was similar to that before thinning(1609 mm).However,direct flow during stormflow periods was higher after thinning(260 mm)than before(153 mm).The concentrations of major ions in stream water did not differ before and after *** a result,the high annual dissolved inorganic N(DIN)exports differed little before(35.8 kg N ha^-1 a^-1)and after(36.5 kg N ha^-1 a^-1)forest *** exports during stormflow periods were slightly higher after(12.2 kg N ha^-1 a^-1)than before thinning(10.5 kg N ha^-1 a^-1)and were proportional to the increased direct flow after thinning(561 mm after vs.470 mm before thinning).We concluded that thinning does not affect annual N exports from the N-saturated plantation forest,but it can increase the proportion of N exported during stormflow periods in proportion to increased water volume of direct flow after thinning.
