BACKGROUND Dyslipidemias are metabolic abnormalities associated with chronic diseases caused by genetic and environmental *** Mexican population displays regional differences according to ethnicity with an impact on the type of *** To define the main dyslipidemias,the frequency of lipid-related risk alleles,and their association with hyperlipidemic states among different ethnic groups in West *** In a retrospective study,1324 adults were selected to compare dyslipidemias and lipid-related gene ***,clinical,and laboratory data were collected.A subgroup of 196 normal weight subjects without impaired glucose was selected for the association *** was determined by allelic discrimination *** Hypercholesterolemia was the most prevalent dyslipidemia(42.3%).The frequency of the risk alleles associated with hypoalphalipoproteinemia(ABCA1)and hypercholesterolemia(APOE,LDLR)was higher in the Native Americans(P=0.047).In contrast,the Mestizos with European ancestry showed a higher frequency of the risk alleles for hypertriglyceridemia(APOE2,MTTP)(P=0.045).In normal weight Mestizo subjects,the APOB TT and LDLR GG genotypes were associated risk factors for hypercholesterolemia(OR=5.33,95%CI:1.537-18.502,P=0.008 and OR=3.90,95%CI:1.042-14.583,P=0.043,respectively),and displayed an increase in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels(APOB:β=40.39,95%CI:14.415-66.366,P=0.004;LDLR:β=20.77,95%CI:5.763-35.784,P=0.007).CONCLUSION Gene polymorphisms and dyslipidemias showed a differential *** primary health care strategies are required to mitigate their prevalence considering the genetic and environmental features which could have important implications for personalized medicine within the new era of precision medicine.

Background Treeline ecotones of Mediterranean ecoregions have been affected by the increasing intensity and severity of droughts. Even though the effect of droughts on forest dynamics has been widely documented, knowledge is relatively scarce of how extreme climate episodes affect the hydraulic structure and, therefore, the phys-iology of woody plants. The Mediterranean Andes have experienced an uninterrupted period of drought since 2010, including an extremely dry year in 2019 with approximately 80% rainfall deficit. Here, we investigated shifts in wood anatomical and physiological traits of Kageneckia angustifolia, an endemic treeline species, in response to this drought *** We evaluated the xylem plasticity of three K. angustifolia populations across their natural distribution(31–35° SL) based on anatomical(vessel structure and distribution) and physiological(intrinsic water-use efficiency) variables in the tree rings. We focused on the period 2000–2020 that corresponds to before the megadrought(2000–2007),(ii) megadrought(2008–2018) and(iii) hyperdrought(2019–2020). The variables were annualized and analyzed by linear mixed-effects *** Our results provide insights to the anatomical and physiological mechanisms underlying the resilience of treeline forests to persistent droughts in central Chile. We found that the extreme drought in 2019–2020 triggered shifts in vessel size and frequency that increased hydraulic safety. These significant shifts in vessel traits occurred in parallel with a decrease in pit aperture area and an increase in water-use efficiency, further increasing the resilience of K. angustifolia to extreme drought *** Our results revealed coordinated shifts in vessel size and frequency and water-use efficiency in response to the megadrought, thereby reducing vulnerability to hydraulic failure. AIM:To assess the efficacy of allopurinol to prevent hyperamylasemia and pancreatitis after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(PEP).METHODS:One hundred and seventy patients were enrolled and randomized to two groups:a study group(n=85)who received 300 mg of oral allopurinol at 15 h and 3 h before endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)and a control group(n=85)receiving an oral placebo at the same *** Outcome Measurements included serum amylase levels and the number severity of the episodes of *** amylase levels were classified as normal(151 IU/L).Episodes of PEP were classified following Ranson's criteria and CT severity ***:Gender distribution was similar between *** age was 53.5±18.9 years for study group and 52.8±19.8 years for ***,the distribution of benign pathology was similar between *** was more common in the control group(P=0.003).Mild PEP developed in two patients from the study group(2.3%)and eight(9.4%) from control group(P=0.04),seven episodes were observed in high-risk patients of the control group(25%) and one in the allopurinol group(3.3%,P=0.02).Risk factors for PEP were precut sphincterotomy(P=0.02),pancreatic duct manipulation(P=0.002)and multiple procedures(P=0.000).There were no deaths or side ***:Oral allopurinol before ERCP decreased the incidences of hyperamylasemia and pancreatitis in patients submitted to high-risk procedures.

This study had the purpose of testingtwo methods for teaching grammar in Englishasa Foreign Language(EFL)class:the deductive and inductive approaches in terms of effectiveness and *** research was conducted in a public high school in *** students enrolled in the second year of senior high school *** in-service teacher taught the EFL classes during the process of intervention(10 weeks),and two EFL teachers observed all of these classes and recorded the information by filling in observation *** students were administered grammar pretests and post-tests in order to assess their grammar *** results of the tests showed a significant difference in the scores in favor of the inductive *** the statistical analysis of the data obtained from the tests and observation sheets,we concluded that the inductive approach is more effective for teaching grammar in the EFL classroom in terms of instruction and rapport.

In this talk I report on recent work related to the dynamical generation of baryonic resonances, some made up from pseudoscalar meson-baryon, others from vector meson-baryon and a third type from two meson-one baryon systems. We can establish a correspondence with known baryonic resonances, reinforcing conclusions previously drawn and bringing new light on the nature of some baryonic resonances of higher mass.

Background:Black alder(Alnus glutinosa)forests are in severe decline across their area of distribution due to a disease caused by the soil-borne pathogenic Phytophthora alni species complex(class Oomycetes),“alder Phytopththora”.Mapping of the different types of damages caused by the disease is challenging in high density ecosystems in which spectral variability is high due to canopy *** obtained by unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs)may be particularly useful for such tasks due to the high resolution,flexibility of acquisition and cost efficiency of this type of *** this study,*** decline was assessed by considering four categories of tree health status in the field:asymptomatic,dead and defoliation above and below a 50% threshold.A combination of multispectral Parrot Sequoia and UAV unmanned aerial vehicles-red green blue(RGB)data were analysed using classical random forest(RF)and a simple and robust three-step logistic modelling approaches to identify the most important forest health indicators while adhering to the principle of parsimony.A total of 34 remote sensing variables were considered,including a set of vegetation indices,texture features from the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)and a digital surface model(DSM),topographic and digital aerial photogrammetry-derived structural data from the DSM at crown ***:The four categories identified by the RF yielded an overall accuracy of 67%,while aggregation of the legend to three classes(asymptomatic,defoliated,dead)and to two classes(alive,dead)improved the overall accuracy to 72% and 91% *** the other hand,the confusion matrix,computed from the three logistic models by using the leave-out cross-validation method yielded overall accuracies of 75%,80% and 94% for four-,three-and two-level classifications,***:The study findings provide forest managers with an alternative robust classification method for the rapid,effective assessment of area
