Computer simulation models are widely applied in various areas of the health care sector, including the spread of infectious diseases. Patch models involve explicit movements of people between distinct locations. The aim of the present work has been designed and explored a patch model with population mobility between different patches and between each patch and an external population. The authors considered a SIR （susceptible-infected-recovered） scheme. The model was explored by computer simulations. The results show how endemic levels are reached in all patches of the system. Furthermore, the performed explorations suggest that the people mobility between patches, the immigration from outside the system and the infection rate in each patch, are factors that may influence the dynamics of epidemics and should be considered in health policy planning.

Recently,there has been an upsurge of activity in image-based non-photorealistic rendering(NPR),and in particular portrait image stylisation,due to the advent of neural style transfer(NST).However,the state of performance evaluation in this field is poor,especially compared to the norms in the computer vision and machine learning ***,the task of evaluating image stylisation is thus far not well defined,since it involves subjective,perceptual,and aesthetic *** make progress towards a solution,this paper proposes a new structured,threelevel,benchmark dataset for the evaluation of stylised portrait *** criteria were used for its construction,and its consistency was validated by user ***,a new methodology has been developed for evaluating portrait stylisation algorithms,which makes use of the different benchmark levels as well as annotations provided by user studies regarding the characteristics of the *** perform evaluation for a wide variety of image stylisation methods(both portrait-specific and general purpose,and also both traditional NPR approaches and NST)using the new benchmark dataset.

Background: Medical marijuana use has seen a rise and acceptance in the last several years and while its efficacy has been spoken and discussed in lore, data on efficacy still remains scarce. Aim: We conducted a survey on chronic pain patients certified for medical marijuana to assess pain relief and efficacy. Findings: Our survey found that the pain score with the use of medical marijuana was halved in our 20 respondents and sleep was improved. Overall function improved. Conclusion: The survey shows that medical marijuana is efficacious in chronic pain patients and further studies need to be done and access to the medication needs to be improved so as to benefit more patients.

Efficacy and safety of alcohol septal ablation in elderly patients:one-year outcome

Objective The management of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy is not well-defined in the *** therapy with 3-blockers and calcium-channel blockers are the mainstay therapy for symptomatic *** is usually reserved for patients who fail medical therapy. Alcohol septal ablation has been recently introduced as an alternative therapy. Patients and Methods Ninety-five patients older than 65 years of age were included. All patients have completed one year of follow-up. The mean age was 72 ± 5 years, 47 patients were females, 10 patients with history of hypertension. Results The mean rise in CK post alcohol ablation was 1052 ± 430IU. The mean NYHA class decreased from 2.9 ± 0.6 to 1.2 ± 0.5 ( P ＜ 0.001 ). The exercise duration on treadmill testing increased from 328 ± 260 s to 349 ± 39 s. The mean resting left ventricular outflow tract gradient decreased from 65 ± 37 mmHg to 16 ± 29 mmHg at one year. One patient died in the hospital after coronary artery bypass grafting that was done subsequent to spiral dissection of the left anterior descending artery during ablation. Thirteen patients developed complete heart block immediately after ablation requiring pacing therapy. Conclusions Alcohol septal ablation seems to be an effective alternative therapeutic option for elderly patients with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. Larger studies with longer follow-up are needed.

＜正＞ In order to improve the performance of speech recognizers, particularly in degraded environments, it may be beneficial to integrate use of temporal information. As literature has shown that human listeners are able to use temporal cues in speech recognition tasks, this study examines algorithms for extraction of temporal cues in a speech signal. The task under analysis is the location of landmarks to direct further analysis in a knowledge-based speech recognition system. In this study, a set of robust landmark types were, located with an accuracy of 82.5%-100.0%.

基于岩石变形记忆效应DME＆DRA法,为准确便捷测量初始地应力提供了全新的思路,国际上及中国台湾的一系列实践应用证明了其巨大的潜力。但是,岩石变形记忆效应的研究和工程应用在中国（除中国台湾外）刚起步,同时,试验及理论的系统性研究整体上落后于工程应用,成为制约DME＆DRA法成熟和普及的瓶颈问题。因此,开展岩石变形记忆效应的应用、试验、理论的研究进展综述具有重要意义。首先给出岩石DME＆DRA法的基本概念,然后给出在国际上的应用实践现状;从7个方面的内容对试验研究进展进行系统性评述：（1）岩石变形记忆DRA曲线特征;（2）岩石变形记忆效应的失忆性;（3）人工记忆与地应力记忆;（4）初始加载保持时间;（5）初始加载重复次数;（6）记忆存在应力区域;（7）三维应力记忆特征;详细探讨各方面成果及不足;探讨了岩石变形记忆效应形成机理的两种认识及相应的理论模型,深入剖析现有研究结论与进展揭示存在的挑战,最终给出研究方向与建议。为推动国内开始开展岩石变形记忆效应的研究与应用提供基础。

Suspended Microplastic in Sorsogon Bay Attributing Perna viridis and Atrina pectinata Contamination

Marine microplastic pollution is becoming more visible and pervasive in various aquatic environments and species, including those intended for human consumption. The present study evaluated the occurrence of suspended microplastics in surface waters, the water column, and bivalves, such as Perna viridis and Atrina pectinata in Sorsogon bay. Microplastics were detected in all sampling sites and bivalve tissue samples. Surface water (0 m) and water column (5 m) samples taken from six sampling stations representing spatial consideration of the bay showed an average of 5.55 ± 1.74 items/m3 (range: 2.27 - 1.66 items/m3) and 5.80 ± 1.94 items/m3 (range: 1.93 - 14.55 items/m3), respectively. The mean microplastic number in farmed mussels and wild pen shells collected around the bay varied from 0.31 - 2.50 items/individual for mussels and 0.93 - 4.27 items/individual for pen shells. FTIR spectroscopy revealed that microplastics made up 55% of the debris analyzed, with an additional 45% natural materials, including aluminum silicate, cellulose, and chitin. It is becoming increasingly evident that Sorsogon Bay is not exempt from this paradigm. Hopefully, this will drive the community to support measures to address this issue, such as social perception and behavioral change.
