The current global warming, coupled with the growing demand for energy in our daily lives, necessitates the development of more efficient and reliable energy storage devices. Lithium batteries (LBs) are at the forefront of emerging power sources addressing these challenges. Recent studies have shown that integrating hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanomaterials into LBs enhances the safety, longevity, and electrochemical performance of all LB components, including electrodes, electrolytes, and separators, thereby suggesting their potential value in advancing eco-friendly energy solutions. This review provides an overview of the most recent applications of h-BN nanomaterials in LBs. It begins with an informative introduction to h-BN nanomaterials and their relevant properties in the context of LB applications. Subsequently, it addresses the challenges posed by h-BN and discusses existing strategies to overcome these limitations, offering valuable insights into the potential of BN nanomaterials. The review then proceeds to outline the functions of h-BN in LB components, emphasizing the molecular-level mechanisms responsible for performance improvements. Finally, the review concludes by presenting the current challenges and prospects of integrating h-BN nanomaterials into battery research. Integrating h-BN into lithium batteries enhances safety, longevity, and mechanical integrity of battery components by mitigating dendritic growth and side reactions. Its high ionic and thermal conductivities improve lithium transference and heat management, enhancing performance and reliability. image

Influence of welding on low cycle fatigue properties of Co-based superalloy FSX-414

Co-based superalloys such as FSX-414 have been recently used in gas turbine first stage nozzles. During service, nozzles are exposed to low cycle fatigue, which can lead to cracking of these components. The cracks on these nozzles are usually welded with ttmgsten arc welding （TIG） using Co-based filler metals. In this paper, the effect of TIG on the tensile and low cycle fatigue properties of Co-based superalloy FSX-414 was studied at 950℃. The experimental results show that the yield and ultimate tensile stresses of welded and unwelded specimens are comparable to each other. But toughness of welded specimens is lower than that of unwelded ones. The low cycle fatigue properties of FSX-414 were studied at a strain rate of 3.3×10^-4 s^-1, strain ratio R=-1 （R=emin/emax） and Aet （total strain change） from 0.8% to 2%. In welded specimens, at high strain cycling, the nucleation and growth of cracks occur in the welded zone. But at Aet=0.8%, fracture occurs in the same zones of unwelded specimens. The results show that the total fatigue lives of the welded specimens are shorter than those of unwelded ones. In all of the low cycle fatigue tests, softening phenomena are observed.

The Role of Immune System in Depression Disorder

In order to diagnose a major depressive disorder, patients must have at least 5 depres-sive symptoms out of 9 criteria, present for at least two weeks. Depressive symptoms include absence of concentration, fatigue and suicidal ideation. The intensity of de-pression symptoms affects the severity of depression and the degree of the impact on the quality of life. Major depressive disorders (MDD) are defined as a significant health problem, and are estimated to rise in prevalence in the future years. Immune cytokine, associated with major depression for instance, is the interleukin IL-6 and tu-mor necrosis factor (TNF-α) which is defined as pro-inflammatory cytokines, can ac-tivate an inflammatory response. The effects of other inflammatory cytokines on the central nervous system are of controversy. There is an increasing interest about the ef-fect of cytokines derived from innate immune system on the brain and behavior. Cytokines are defined as large sized proteins, mainly produced by immune cells. Two subtypes of cytokines exist: pro-inflammatory cytokines, facilitating inflammatory re-sponses and neural activities;and anti-inflammatory cytokines, inhibiting inflammatory processes. Besides microglia and astrocytes, immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and lymphocytes also produce cytokines. At the times of immunological alterations, infections or inflammation, cytokines will be in an activated form. The main goal of the current review study is to investigate the role of the immune system in the depression disorder.
