v.tis aestiv.lis “Norton/Cynthiana” is a grape nativ. to North America and utilized in the commercial wine industry. The purpose of this research was to determine the appropriate time of year and/or time after last freeze that will yield the most successful propagation rate for v.tis aestiv.lis. It was hypothesized that the highest rate of propagation would be in early summer. During a year-long study (2015-2016), forty cuttings were taken semi-monthly from a v.neyard, treated with 0.1% IBA and placed in a plant growth room set to spring conditions. Daily temperatures were recorded ev.ry day as well. In a follow-up study, cuttings were taken weekly from early spring before v.ne budding until late fall (2017) and treated as prev.ous. After six weeks, cuttings were ev.luated for root production. In both studies, rooting success rates were the highest in the month of June at 10.0% - 27.5%, with rates less than 7.5% for all other sampling dates. It was determined that the best time to propagate v.tis aestiv.lis is in June, 10 - 12 weeks after the last temperature below 0°C or eight to ten weeks after the first budding.

Fog computing is an emerging architecture intended for allev.ating the network burdens at the cloud and the core network by mov.ng resource-intensiv. functionalities such as computation, communication, storage, and analytics closer to the End Users (EUs). In order to address the issues of energy efficiency and latency requirements for the time-critical Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, fog computing systems could apply intelligence features in their operations to take adv.ntage of the readily av.ilable data and computing resources. In this paper, we propose an approach that inv.lv.s dev.ce-driv.n and human-driv.n intelligence as key enablers to reduce energy consumption and latency in fog computing v.a two case studies. The first one makes use of the machine learning to detect user behav.ors and perform adaptiv. low-latency Medium Access Control (MAC)-layer scheduling among sensor dev.ces. In the second case study on task offloading, we design an algorithm for an intelligent EU dev.ce to select its offloading decision in the presence of multiple fog nodes nearby, at the same time, minimize its own energy and latency objectiv.s. Our results show a huge but untapped potential of intelligence in tackling the challenges of fog computing。

Buckling restrained knee braced truss moment frame （BRKBTMF） is a nov.l and innov.tiv. steel structural system that utilizes the adv.ntages of long-span trusses and dedicated structural fuses for seismic applications. Steel trusses are v.ry economical and effectiv. in spanning large distance. Howev.r, conv.ntional steel trusses are typically not suitable for seismic application, due to its lack of ductility and poor energy dissipation capacity. BRKBTMF utilizes buckling restrained braces （BRBs） as the designated structural fuses to dissipate the sudden surge of earthquake energy. This allows the BRKBTMF to economically and efficiently create large span structural systems for seismic applications. In this paper, a prototype BRKBTMF office building located in Berkeley, California, USA, was designed using performance-based plastic design procedure. The seismic performance of the prototype building was assessed using the state-of-the-art finite element software, OpenSees. Detailed BRB hysteresis and adv.nced element remov.l technique was implemented. The modeling approach allows the simulation for the force-deformation response of the BRB and the force redistribution within the system after the BRBs fracture. The dev.loped finite element model was analyzed using incremental dynamic analysis approach to quantify the seismic performance of BRKBTMF. The results show BRKBTMF has excellent seismic performance with well controlled structural responses and resistance against collapse. In addition, life cycle repair cost of BRKBTMF was assessed using the next-generation performance-based earthquake engineering framework. The results confirm that BRKBTMF can effectiv.ly control the structural and non-structural component damages and minimize the repair costs of the structure under different ranges of earthquake shaking intensities. This studies conclude that BRKBTMF is a v.able and effectiv. seismic force resisting system.

Treatment Patterns and Healthcare Costs among U.S. Patients with Adv.nced Melanoma Initiating Subsequent Systemic Therapy Following Use of Ipilimumab (IPI)

As the treatment landscape for adv.nced melanoma continues to ev.lv., it is critical to focus on unmet needs and understand the cost of therapy. While Ipilimumab (IPI), an immunotherapy indicated for unresectable adv.nced melanoma, has been a mainstay of 1st-line treatment, there was no standard of care following progression until recently. The objectiv. of this study was to examine real-world treatment patterns and healthcare costs following IPI use in adv.nced melanoma patients prior to the anti-PD-1 class approv.l. Adult stage III or Iv.melanoma patients treated with IPI were selected between April 1, 2011, and September 30, 2013, from a large U.S. commercial and Medicare claims database. Patients were ev.luated for therapy after IPI, with an index date set as the first systemic therapy after IPI. Per-Patient Per-Month (PPPM) healthcare costs while on activ. treatment were ev.luated from index until treatment discontinuation, inpatient death, end of insurance enrollment, or September 30, 2013. Of 361 eligible patients, 111 (30.7%) initiated subsequent systemic therapy (mean age, 57 years;64.9% male). The most common therapies, single-agent or combination, included v.murafenib (32.4%), paclitaxel (28.8%), temozolomide (20.7%), and carboplatin (17.1%). During a median follow-up of 130 days, mean [standard dev.ation] PPPM all-cause total healthcare costs were $20,383 [$18,988], of which $4800 (23.6%), $5899 (28.9%), and $9684 (47.5%) were related to melanoma drug costs, medical claims with a diagnosis of melanoma, and other (non-specified) utilization, respectiv.ly. When considering total care, the costs of U.S. patients with adv.nced melanoma post-IPI were substantial across all commonly used agents.
