Highly dispersed Ru nanospecies on N-doped carbon/MXene composite for highly efficient alkaline hydrogen evolution

Hydrogen has emerged as a promising environmentally friendly energy source. The development of lowcost, highly active, stable, and easily synthesized catalysts for hydrogen evolution reactions(HER) remains a significant challenge. This study explored the synthesis of nitrogen-doped MXene-based composite catalysts for enhanced HER performance. By thermally decomposing RuCl_(3) coordinated with melamine and formaldehyde resin, we successfully introduced nitrogen-doped carbon(N–C) with highly dispersed ruthenium(Ru) onto the MXene surface. The calcination temperature played a crucial role in controlling the size of Ru nanoparticles(Ru NPs) and the proportion of Ru single-atom(Ru SA), thereby facilitating the synergistic enhancement of HER performance by Ru NPs and Ru SA. The resulting catalyst prepared with a calcination temperature of 600℃, Ti_(3)C_(2)T_x-N/C-Ru-600(TNCR-600), exhibited exceptional HER activity(η10= 17 m V) and stability(160 h) under alkaline conditions. This work presented a simple and effective strategy for synthesizing composite catalysts, offering new insights into the design and regulation of high-performance Ru-based catalysts for hydrogen production.

The Bayingobi basin is located in the middle of Central Asia Orogenic Belt,at the intersection of Paleo-Asian Ocean and Tethys Ocean,as well as the junction of multiple tectonic plates.This unique tectonic setting underpins the basin's intricate history of tectonic activity.To unravel the multifaceted tectono-thermal evolution within the southwestern region of the basin and to elucidate the implications of sandstone-hosted uranium mineralization,granitic and clastic rock samples were collected from the Zongnai Mts.uplift and Yingejing depression,and apatite fission track(AFT)dating and thermal history simulation analysis were performed.AFT dating findings reveal that the apparent ages of all samples fall within the range of 244 Ma to 112 Ma.In particular,the bedrock of the Zongnai Mts.and Jurassic detrital apatite fission tracks have undergone complete annealing,capturing the uplift-cooling age.Meanwhile,the AFT ages of Cretaceous detrital rocks are either equivalent to or notably exceed the age of sedimentary strata,signifying the cooling age of the provenance.A comprehensive examination of AFT ages and palaeocurrent direction analyses suggests that the Cretaceous source in the Tamusu area predominantly originated from the central and southern sectors of the Zongnai Mts.uplift.However,at a certain juncture during the Late Early Cretaceous,the Cretaceous provenance expanded to include the northern part of the Zongnai Mts.uplift.Based on the results of thermal history simulations and previous studies,it is considered that the Tamusu area has undergone four distinct tectonic uplift events since the Late Paleozoic.The first is the Late Permian to Early Triassic(260-240 Ma),which is associated with the closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean and the accretionary orogeny within the Alxa region.The second uplift event took place in the Early Jurassic(190-175 Ma)and corresponded to intraplate orogeny following the closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean.The third uplift event is the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous(160-120 Ma),which

This paper revisits the problem of bumpless transfer control(BTC) for discrete-time nondeterministic switched linear systems. The general case of asynchronous switching is considered for the first time in the field of BTC for switched systems. A new approach called interpolated bumpless transfer control(IBTC) is proposed, where the bumpless transfer controllers are formulated with the combination of the two adjacent modedependent controller gains, and are interpolated for finite steps once the switching is detected. In contrast with the existing approaches, IBTC does not necessarily run through the full interval of subsystems, as well as possesses the time-varying controller gains(with more flexibility and less conservatism) achieved from a control synthesis allowing for the stability and other performance of the whole switched system. Sufficient conditions ensuring stability and H_(∞) performance of the underlying system by IBTC are developed, and numerical examples verify the theoretical findings.

Disinfection by chloramination produces toxic byproducts and the difference in toxicity of reclaimed and drinking water treated by chloramination remains unclear.This study investigated cytotoxic effects at the same concentrations of dissolved organic matter and showed that chloraminated effluent organic matter(EfOM)induced 1.7 times higher cytotoxicity than chloraminated natural organic matter(NOM)applied to simulate drinking water.Chloraminated EfOM induced more reactive nitrogen species than chloraminated NOM,and chloraminated EfOM and NOM induced similar and higher levels of reactive oxygen species than the negative control,respectively.Consequently,intracellular macromolecule damage indicated by DNA/RNA damage marker 8–hydroxy-(deoxy)guanosine and the intracellular protein carbonyl concentration induced by chloraminated EfOM was higher and slightly more than that induced by chloraminated NOM,respectively.These data were consistent with the effects on cell physiological processes.Cell cycle arrest mainly occurred in G2 phase by chloraminated EfOM and NOM.Early apoptotic cells,which could return to normal,increased upon exposure to high concentrations of chloraminated EfOM and NOM.Moreover,necrotic cells were significantly increased from 0.5%to 2.5%when the concentration increased from 20-to 60-fold chloraminated EfOM,but were not obviously changed by chloraminated NOM.These results indicated that the comprehensive intracellular changes induced by toxic substances in chloraminated EfOM were more irreversible and induced more cell death than chloraminated NOM.

The surface tension of troposphere aerosols can significantly influence their atmospheric processes and key properties, particularly on the morphology, the phase transition, the activation as cloud condensation nuclei, and the gas-particle partitioning. However, directly measuring the surface tension of single ambient aerosol is quite challenging, due to the limitations of their picolitre volumes and thermal motion. Here, we developed a dual laser tweezers Raman spectroscopy(DLT-RS) system to directly sense the surface tension of single airborne microdroplets(PM10particles). A pair of aerosol droplets were trapped and driven to coalesce by the laser tweezers. Meanwhile, the backscattering light intensity and brightfield images during the coalescence process were recorded to characterize the aerosol surface tension. A remarkable advantage of directly sensing aerosol surface tension is that the solutes in aerosols are often supersaturated, which is common in atmospheric aerosols but almost unavailable in bulk solutions.We experimentally measured the surface tension of aerosols composed of nitrates or oxalic acid/nitrate mixture. Besides, the variation of surface tension during aerosol aging process was also explored, which brings possible implications on the surface evolution of actual ambient aerosol during their atmospheric lifetime.

This paper presents the effects of both poly vinylidene fluoride(PVDF)/carbon black(CB)ratio(m PVDF:m CB)and mixing time t on the dispersion mechanism of the cathode slurry of lithium-ion battery(LIB).The dispersion mechanism is deduced from the electrochemical,morphological and rheological properties of the cathode slurry by using electrical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),scanning electron microscopy and rheology methods,respectively.From the perspective of EIS method,static simulation models are established in the COMSOL Multiphysics software;meanwhile,the simulated results are used to verify the correctness of the electrochemical properties of the cathode slurry.As a result,the following conclusions are able to be obtained.Firstly,in the case of the mass ratio m PVDF:m CB=5:10,LiCoO2 particles are completely coated by the mixture of CB and PVDF to form a stable polymer gel structure.Higher or lower m PVDF:m CB leads to the larger impedance and worse dispersion status for the cathode slurry.Secondly,when t=6 min,a good gel-like conductive network structure is formed by coating the thinner evenly dispersed CB–PVDF double layer around LiCoO2 particles.Finally,a strategy regarding to both m PVDF:m CB and t in experimental scale is proposed,which has the capability of improving the performance of LIB.

Deep learning for joint channel estimation and feedback in massive MIMO systems

The great potentials of massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output(MIMO)in Frequency Division Duplex(FDD)mode can be fully exploited when the downlink Channel State Information(CSI)is available at base stations.However,the accurate CsI is difficult to obtain due to the large amount of feedback overhead caused by massive antennas.In this paper,we propose a deep learning based joint channel estimation and feedback framework,which comprehensively realizes the estimation,compression,and reconstruction of downlink channels in FDD massive MIMO systems.Two networks are constructed to perform estimation and feedback explicitly and implicitly.The explicit network adopts a multi-Signal-to-Noise-Ratios(SNRs)technique to obtain a single trained channel estimation subnet that works well with different SNRs and employs a deep residual network to reconstruct the channels,while the implicit network directly compresses pilots and sends them back to reduce network parameters.Quantization module is also designed to generate data-bearing bitstreams.Simulation results show that the two proposed networks exhibit excellent performance of reconstruction and are robust to different environments and quantization errors.

Enhancement of mechanical properties of GTAW joints for ZC63 magnesium alloy by post-weld heat treatment

To further improve the microstructure and mechanical properties of gas tungsten arc welded(GTAW)welded joints for ZC63 magnesium alloy,post-weld heat treatment is carried out.It is found that the majority of the MgZnCu phase in the fusion zone(FZ)is dissolved in theα-Mg matrix under suitable heat treatment conditions.The remainder is diffusely distributed as rods or granules at the grain bound-aries.The excessive heat treatment temperature(460℃)leads to abnormal grain growth(AGG)in the FZ.The substructure gradient between the abnormally grown grains and the surrounding small grains pro-vides the driving force for AGG.Meanwhile,the dissolution of the MgZnCu phase weakens the hindering effect of the second phase on grain boundary migration,setting the stage for AGG.In addition,the detri-mental impact of the continuous MgZnCu phase on the mechanical properties of the welded joint is also lessened by its dissolution.The ultimate tensile strength(UTS),yield strength(YS)and elongation(EL)of the welded joints are 255 MPa,119 MPa and 27.0%,respectively,under the post-weld heat treatment process of 440℃×12 h.The welding coefficient of the welded joint reaches 97.0%,satisfying the service criteria set forth by the mechanical properties of the welded joints.

A wide range of polymer-based drug delivery systems have been reported for the treatment of variousdiseases.However,the dosing regimen of many drugs,such as stimulator of interferon genes agonists,programmed cell death protein-1 antibodies,and coronavirus disease 2019 vaccines,consists of repeatedintratumoral or intramuscular injections.These repeated administrations may lead to poor adherence,thus resulting in compromised therapeutic outcomes and increased financial burden.Here,we developed a multidose drug delivery platform by engineering polylactic-co-glycolic acid(PLGA)with differentmolecular weights into self-healing single-cavity microcapsules(SSM).This approach showed a flexiblecollocation strategy to achieve customized pulsatile drug release and was fully degradable with goodsafety.Notably,this single-injection delivery system contains only PLGA,holding great promise forclinical translation.
