Wiener Filtration Algorithm of an Ensemble Pulsar Timescale Based on a Power-law Model of Pulsar Power Spectrum

An ensemble pulsar timescale derived from the traditional Wiener filtration still contains some high level noise.To improve this situation we developed a Wiener filtration algorithm of the ensemble pulsar timescale based on a power-law model of power spectrum for pulsars.Our algorithm has three strengths:(1)mitigating spectral leakage between frequency bins for Fourier techniques;(2)using a power-law model for power spectrum;(3)signal realization in original residuals of data set by the power-law model.According to improved algorithm we constructed an ensemble pulsar timescale EPT-TAI using timing data with respect to International Atomic Time(TAI)about 16 yr time span of ten pulsars from International Pulsar Timing Array second data release(version A).The results show that EPT-TAI detected correctly the differences TT(BIPM2015)-TAI between terrestrial time TT(BIPM2015)and TAI.Fractional frequency stabilityσzanalysis shows that EPT-TAI does not indicate red noise for 16 yr time interval,and fractional frequency stability for 8 yr and longer time intervals is slightly better than that of TT(BIPM2015)-TAI.Stability for short time intervals of TT(BIPM2015)-TAI is better than that of EPT-TAI,but TT(BIPM2015)-TAI shows red noise for longer time intervals.Using the same algorithm we also derived an ensemble pulsar timescale EPT-TT(BIPM2015)with respect to TT(BIPM2015).The fractional frequency stability curve of EPT-TT(BIPM2015)shows similar characteristics as that of EPT-TAI but with slightly lower values.

Self-accommodated defect structures modifying the growth of Laves phase

Laves phases,with the topologically close-packed structure and a chemical formula of Ab_(2),constitute the largest single class of intermetallics.Planar defects in Laves phases are widely investigated,especially for stacking behavior transformations through synchroshear.Here,we report the coexistence of C14,C36 and C15 structures in MgZn_2 precipitates by using atomic resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy,verifying the previously predicted Laves phase transformation sequence of C14→C36→C15 also applies to MgZn_2.One type of stacking fault couple in precipitates has been found to alone reduce the lattice mismatch with matrix,while some other stacking fault couples need to self-accommodate with irregular planar defects(rhombic units and flattened hexagonal units),or with five-fold symmetry structures to relieve the strain concentration.Precipitates thus grow towards an equiaxed or even round morphology,rather than the plate morphology as conventionally believed.Molecular dynamics calculations are performed to support our analysis.These findings reveal the principles governing the concurrent occurrence of various defects in laves structures,acting as an update of the widely accepted perception of random occurrence of defects during crystal growth.

Proving Mutual Authentication Property of RCIA Protocol in RFID Based on Logic of Events

The increasing commercialization and massive deployment of radio frequency identification(RFID) systems has raised many security related issues which in return evokes the need of security protocols. Logic of events theory(Lo ET) is a formal method for constructing and reasoning about distributed systems and protocols that involve concepts of security. We propose fresh ciphertext and ciphertext release lemmas to extend Lo ET for analyzing and proving the security of authentication protocols that use symmetric key cryptography more than just digital signature. Based on the extended Lo ET we formally analyze and prove the authentication property of RCIA protocol, which provides mutual authentication between Tag and Reader in RFID system.Our proof approach based on extended Lo ET could be applied to the design and analysis of such ultralightweight RFID mutual authentication protocols.

Application of homogenization techniques for inflow transport approximation on light water reactor analysis

The transport cross-section based on inflow transport approximation can significantly improve the accuracy of light water reactor(LWR)analysis,especially for the treatment of the anisotropic scattering effect.The previous inflow transport approximation is based on the moderator cross-section and normalized fission source,which is approximated using transport theory.Although the accuracy of reactivity is increased,the P0 flux moment has a large error in the Monte Carlo code.In this study,an improved inflow transport approximation was introduced with homogenization techniques,applying the homogenized cross-section and accurate fission source.The numerical results indicated that the improved inflow transport approximation can increase the P0 flux moment accuracy and maintain the reactivity calculation precision with the previous inflow transport approximation in typical LWR cases.In addition to this investigation,the improved inflow transport approximation is related to the temperature factors.The improved inflow transport approximation is flexible and accurate in the treatment of the anisotropic scattering effect,which can be directly used in the temperature-dependent nuclear data library.

High C–C cleavage efficiencies of ethanol oxidation reaction on mesoporous RhPt electrocatalysts

Optimizing the structure of an electrocatalyst is critical to achieve its outstand-ing performance as well as to establish relationships between its composition and its performance.In this work,a series of mesoporous RhPt electrocatalysts(RhPt-MPS)with different compositions are designed and synthesized toward the ethanol oxidation reaction(EOR).The mesoporous structure of RhPt-MPS exposes abundant surface sites and channels for mass transfer of ethanol,and thus boosts the catalytic EOR performance.It has been confirmed that Rh not only reduces the oxidation potential of EOR,but also effectively facilitates the breakage of C-C bond.Stemming from structural and compositional advantages of the RhPt 0.6-MPS electrocatalyst,it exhibits the highest activity(2846.0 mA mg^(–1))for the EOR when compared with other RhPt-MPS,Rh-MPS,and Pt-MPS electrocatalysts.It also delivers excellent stability and high selectivity than other electrocatalysts.

High-Performance Aqueous Zinc-Ion Battery Based on Laser-Induced Graphene

Zn-ion batteries(ZIBs)have a broad application prospect because of their advantages of high power,large capacity,and high energy density.However,the development of high-capacity,long-lifespan ZIBs is challenging because of the faster dendrite growth and the occurrence of the hydrogen evolution reaction.Laser-induced graphene(LIG)is a material with many defects and heteroatoms.Because of these characteristics,it plays an important role in improving nucleation.A simple and effective method for preparing LIG was proposed in this paper,and the LIG was covered on the surface of Zn foil to form a composite structure.This structure substantially reduces the nucleation overpotential of Zn and slows down the dendrite growth of Zn by improving the nucleation behavior of Zn^(2+).Simultaneously,the three-dimensional porous structure increases the specific surface area of the electrode,so the battery has a larger specific capacity.Compared with the bare Zn electrode,the composite electrode possesses lower overpotential and longer cycle life.In addition,the full battery using activated carbon as the active material exhibits great rate and cycle performance.This facile and scalable approach may solve the problem of Zn dendrite growth,which is crucial for the large-scale application of ZIBs.

Vector Segment Routing for Large-Scale Multilayer Satellite Network

With the expansion of satellite constellation,routing techniques for small-scale satellite networks have problems in routing overhead and forwarding efficiency.This paper proposes a vector segment routing method for large-scale multi layer satellite networks.A vector forwarding path is built based on the location between the source and the destination.Data packets are forwarded along this vector path,shielding the influence of satellite motion on routing forwarding.Then,a dynamic route maintenance strategy is suggested.In a multi layer satellite network,the low-orbit satellites are in charge of computing the routing tables for one area,and the routing paths are dynamically adjusted in the area in accordance with the network.The medium-orbit satellites maintain the connectivity of vector paths in multiple segmented areas.The forwarding mode based on the source and destination location improves the forwarding efficiency,and the segmented route maintenance mode decreases the routing overhead.The simulation results indicate that vector segment routing has significant performance advantages in end-to-end delay,packet loss rate,and throughput in a multi layer satellite network.We also simulate the impact of routing table update mechanism on network performance and overhead and give the performance of segmented vector routing in multi layer low-orbit satellite networks.

A Structural Interpretation Model and Restoration of the Mesozoic Proto-basin for the Kuqa Depression,Tarim Basin

A thrust-fold belt consisting of a series of thrusts and buckling folds developed in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic strata within the Kuqa Depression,Tarim Basin.In this study,a structural interpretation model of the Kuqa Depression is established and the Mesozoic proto-basin is reconstructed on the basis of outcrop geology along the basin margin,seismic,well-log and CEMP data.The model is called‘delaminate contractional deformation',which emphasizes the decoupling between the Cenozoic,Mesozoic,pre-Mesozoic and the basin-basement within the Kuqa Depression,but there is no unified detachment.The model has a shortening amount ranging from 12 km to 16 km and the depth involved in contractional deformation ranges from 21 km to 28 km.A prototype of the Mesozoic basin reconstructed by interpretation model is a subbasin superposed on the transitional zone between the uplift at the northern edge of the Tarim Craton and the southern Tianshan orogenic wedge formed in the Hercynian orogeny.Lithospheric thermal and crustal isostatic activity after the Hercynian orogeny maybe the controlling dynamic factors of basin subsidence during the Mesozoic and early Cenozoic,the difference in rock mechanical properties between different levels,craton and orogenic wedge being the major cause of the‘delaminate contractional deformation'during the Himalayan orogeny.

Is transformational leadership always good for employee task performance?Examining curvilinear and moderated relationships

Transformational leadership, generally considered as a desirable leadership style, has positive effects on various performance outcomes of employees; however, its productivity has been called into question because of a relative neglect of its negative aspects. Addressing this gap, an attempt at rethinking the relationship between transformational leadership and employee performance is important. The paradoxical perspective indicates that conflicting positive and negative effects of transformational leadership can coexist, which provides possibility and rationality for thorough consideration of employees' task performance influenced by transformational leaders. Integrating the principle of diminishing marginal utility and the 'Too-Much-of-a-Good-Thing (TMGT)' effect, this research explores an inverted U-shaped relationship between transformational leadership and employee task performance. Furthermore, applying social cognitive theory, we assume an employee's proactive personality moderates the curvilinear influence of transformational leadership on employees' task performance. As expected, results from a study of data from 209 supervisor-subordinate relationships from China showed that the inverted U-shaped relationship between transformational leadership and employees' task performance was moderated by employees' proactive personality.
