Lead-halide perovskites are highly promising for various optoelectronic applications,including laser ***,fundamental photophysics explaining the coherent-light emission from this material system is so intricate and often the subject of ***,we systematically investigate photoluminescence properties of all-inorganic perovskite microcavity at room temperature and discuss the excited state and the light–matter coupling regime depending on excitation ***-resolved photoluminescence clearly exhibits that the microcavity system shows a transition from weak coupling regime to strong coupling regime,revealing the increase in correlated electron–hole *** pumping fluence above the threshold,the photoluminescence signal shows a lasing behavior with bosonic condensation characteristics,accompanied by long-range phase *** excitation density required for the lasing behavior,however,is found to exceed the Mott density,excluding the exciton as the excited *** results demonstrate that the polaritonic Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer state originates the strong coupling formation and the lasing behavior.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) in patients with surgically altered anatomy has been a major challenge to gastrointestinal endoscopists with low success rates for reaching the target site as well as high complication rates. The knowledge of ERCP-related risk factors is important for reducing unexpected *** To identify ERCP-related risk factors for perforation in patients with surgically altered *** The medical records of 187 patients with surgically altered anatomy who underwent ERCP at our institution between April 2009 and December 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. An analysis of patient data, including age, sex, type of reconstruction, cause of surgery, aim of ERCP, success rate of reaching target site,success rate of procedure, adverse events, type of scope, time to reach the target site, and duration of procedure, was performed. In patients with Billroth-Ⅱ reconstruction, additional potential risk factors were the shape of the inserted scope and whether the anastomosis was antecolic or *** All patients(n = 187) had surgical anatomy, such as Billroth-Ⅰ(n = 22), Billroth-Ⅱ(n = 33), Roux-en-Y(n = 54), Child, or Whipple reconstruction(n = 75). ERCP was performed for biliary drainage in 43 cases(23%), stone removal in 29 cases(16%),and stricture dilation of anastomosis in 59 cases(32%). The scope was unable to reach the target site in 17 cases(9%), and an aimed procedure could not be accomplished in 54 cases(29%). Adverse events were pancreatitis(3%),hyperamylasemia(10%), cholangitis(6%), cholestasis(4%), excessive sedation(1%), perforation(2%), and others(3%). Perforation occurred in three cases, all of which were in patients with Billroth-Ⅱ reconstruction; in these patients, further analysis revealed loop-shaped insertion of the scope to be a significant risk for perforation(P = 0.01).CONCLUSION Risk factors for perforation during ERCP in patients with surgically altered anatomy were Billro

Superoxide dismutases (SODs) catalyze the dismutation of superoxide and play an important role in reducing oxidative stress in plants. Based on in-gel SOD activity staining, chloroplasts of the moss Physcomitrella patens have two CuZn-SODs as the major SOD isozymes and minor SODs, including a Fe-SOD and two Mn-SODs. To investigate the contribution of chloroplastic SODs to stress tolerance in P. patens, we generated a double mutant lacking chloroplastic CuZn-SOD genes. The mutant did not show any differences in comparison to the wild type based on the growth of protonemata on normal and high-salt media, extractable activities of the other SODs after culture on normal and high-salt media, and inhibition of Fv/Fm under stress conditions (high-salt, high-light, and high-temperature). These results indicate that chloroplastic CuZn-SODs do not play a principal role in oxidative stress tolerance in chloroplasts under the investigated conditions. These findings explain the previously reported unusual response of P. patens to copper deficiency, in which chloroplastic CuZn-SODs are preferentially inactivated but cytosolic CuZn-SODs are unaffected.

Ischemic colitis is the most common type of intestinal ischemia. The etiology of this condition is multifactorial, and the diagnosis is based on a combination of clinical symptoms, as well as endoscopic and histological findings. Although conservative therapy is effective in most cases, surgery still plays a key role in the treatment of ischemic colitis. Here, we describe a case of a 73-year-old man in whom laparoscopy-assisted left colectomy was performed 80 d after the onset of ischemic colitis. He recovered completely after surgery, and the pathological findings were consistent with ischemic colitis. To the best of our knowledge, there are no detailed reports of laparoscopic surgery for chronic segmental stenotic ischemic colitis. We discussed the usefulness of laparoscopic surgery, comparing it with endoscopic treatment, and we propose an optimal treatment strategy from a viewpoint of stenosis length and duration of disease.

Numerical Flow Simulation in Turbine Mode of Counter-Rotating Type Pumping Unit to Cooperate with Wind Turbine

This serial research has proposed the hybrid power system combined the wind power unit with the counter-rotating type pump-turbine unit, to provide the constant output for the grid system, even at the suddenly fluctuating/turbulent wind circumstance. In this paper, the tandem impellers prepared for the counter-rotating type pumping unit were operated at the turbine mode, and the performances and the flow conditions were investigated numerically with accompanying the experimental results. Even though providing the pumping unit for the turbine mode, the maximum hydraulic efficiency is close to one of the counter-rotating type hydroelectric unit designed exclusively for the turbine mode. Besides, the runners/impellers of the unit work evidently so as to coincide the angular momentum change through the front runners/impellers with that through the rear runners/impellers, namely to take the axial flow at not only the inlet but also the outlet, without the guide vanes. From these results, it can be concluded that this type unit is effective to work at not only the pumping but also the turbine modes.

Oncologic impact of colonic stents for obstructive left-sided colon cancer

Colonic stenting has had a significant positive impact on the management of obstructive left-sided colon cancer(OLCC) in terms of both palliative treatment and bridge-to-surgery(BTS). Notably, many studies have convincingly demonstrated the effectiveness of stenting as a BTS, resulting in improvements in shortterm outcomes and quality of life, safety, and efficacy in subsequent curative surgery, and increased cost-effectiveness, whereas the safety of chemotherapy after stenting and the long-term outcomes of stenting as a BTS are controversial. Several studies have suggested an increased risk of perforation in patients receiving bevacizumab chemotherapy after colonic stenting. In addition, several pathological analyses have suggested a negative oncological impact of colonic stenting. In contrast, many recent studies have demonstrated that colonic stenting for OLCC does not negatively impact the safety of chemotherapy or long-term oncological outcomes. The updated version of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy guidelines released in 2020 included colonic stenting as a BTS for OLCC as a recommended treatment. It should be noted that the experience of endoscopists is involved in determining technical and clinical success rates and possibly oncological outcomes. This review discusses the positive and negative impacts of colonic stenting on OLCC treatment, particularly in terms of oncology.

Portal Vein Stenosis Caused by Postoperative Complications after Pancreatobiliary Surgery

Background: Portal vein (PV) stenosis or obstruction is sometimes observed in patients who were performed pancreatobiliary surgery. These conditions such as pancreatic fistulas (PF) and intra-abdominal infections after pancreatobiliary surgery still represent significant clinical issues. In addition, insufficient attention is paid to the fact that severe stenosis of the PV can result in life-threatening complications. Material and Methods: At our institution, lymph node dissection within the hepatoduodenal ligament was performed for biliary or pancreatic neoplasms in 68 patients between October 2005 and April 2017. The diameter of the PV was measured on computed tomography scans obtained before and after the operation. PV stenosis was defined as a >50% reduction in the diameter of the PV. The degree of PF (Pancreatic Fistula) was defined by the International Study Group of Pancreatic Fistula after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Furthermore, the Clavien-Dindo (CD) classification was used to assess the complications that occurred in cases in which pancreatojejunostomy was not performed. The relationship between the degree of PV stenosis and the occurrence of postoperative complications was analyzed. Results: The overall frequency of PF was 56.3% (18 patients). Grade B or C PF occurred in 5 patients (15.6%). In the present small series, a correlation was detected between the degree of PV stenosis and the occurrence of postoperative complications after pancreatobiliary surgery (p Conclusions: Clinicians should keep in mind that the PV can narrow in cases in which grade B or C PF or intra-abdominal abscesses occur after pancreatobiliary surgery.

EBSD Analysis of the Submicron Width Fibber Shaped Grain Copper Fabricated by Drawing

Several drawing processes of 3N pure copper (Cu) with ultra high reduction in area have been performed, and the texture has been observed using electron back scattered diffraction. It is well known that the texture of drawn Cu is closely related to its mechanical properties;in particular nanometer scale width fibber shaped grain is interesting. Previously, it was reported that drawing 3N Cu with around 95% reduction in area changes its mechanical properties. In the present experiment, grains have been changed from round to fiber-shaped, and subsequently, submicron-width fiber grains were generated with a 94.546% reduction in area. However, above 94.546% reduction in area, dynamic recrystallization occurred and then, prevented the grains to be finer. Further recrystallized grains influence on the macroscopic mechanical properties of Cu wire. Furthermore, the distribution of the misorientation angle at grain boundaries increased with an increase in the degree of reduction in area;in particular, the distribution drastically increased between 94.546% and 99.997%. Further, the frequency of coincidence of site lattice boundaries increased. The abovementioned variations in texture are closely related to mechanical properties.

Analysis of Sudden Cardiac Arrest during Marathon Races in Japan

Objective: Increased number of runners in Japan has been one reason for increasing the risk of cardiac arrest during marathon races. The purpose of the study was to examine 1) the incidence of cardiac arrest during marathon races held in the past in Japan, 2) the characteristics of runners with cardiac arrest, 3) the effectiveness of public access defibrillation (PAD) use for cardiac arrest cases. Methods: We examined the incidence of the cardiac arrest during marathon races in Japan from the medical records of marathon races that Kokushikan University provided in the past five years. Also, we analyzed cardiac arrests occurred in Japan in the past 15 years between 1999 and 2013. Results: The incidence rate of cardiac arrest was 2.18 per 100,000 participants. As shown in Table 1, the incidence rates were 2.00 per 100,000 participants in full marathon and 2.50 per 100,000 participants in half-marathon. A total of 63 cardiac arrests occurred in the past 15 years, and the number of incidents has been increasing every year. Among 63 cardiac arrest cases, the mean age was 45.3 ± 14.9 years old and 93.7% (59/63 cases) were in males. Eighty-three percentage of cardiac arrest cases applied AED (20/24 cases) were the shockable rhythm. In terms of the survival rate, there was a statistically significant difference between the cases where both bystander CPR and PAD were delivered and the cases where the only bystander CPR took place without PAD (95.0% vs. 47.1%;p Conclusions: Performing PAD on the scene during marathon races could be expected to be higher in the survival rate. Creating a medical support system is needed to handle sudden cardiac arrest rapidly in order to perform early bystander CPR and PAD.

Epidermal Growth Factor Enhances Orthovanadate-Induced Contraction via Src and Myosin Phosphatase Target Subunit 1 in Rat Vascular Smooth Muscle

Inhibition of protein tyrosine phosphatase by orthovanadate induces vasoconstriction, which is mediated by the Rho kinase-dependent inactivation of myosin light chain phosphatase (MLCP) via signaling downstream of Src-induced activation of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor. The present study investigated the potential role of EGF in orthovanadate (OVA)-dependent vaso-constriction. OVA-induced aortic contraction significantly increased in the presence of EGF, and was abolished by inhibitors of Rho kinase (Y27632), extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 and 2 (Erk1/2) (FR180204), Erk1/2 kinase (PD98059), EGF receptor (AG1478), and Src (PP2). Treatment of the rat endothelium-denuded thoracic aorta with either EGF or OVA augmented the phosphorylation of myosin phosphatase target subunit 1 (MYPT1) at Thr-853 and of the EGF receptor at Tyr-1173. The phosphorylation of MYPT1 was further increased by co-stimulation with EGF and OVA. EGF receptor phosphorylation at Tyr-845 was also increased by EGF or OVA;this effect was augmented by co-stimulation with EGF and OVA, and was abolished by Src inhibition. In addition, Erk1/2 was phosphorylated by EGF or by co-treatment with EGF and OVA;this was abolished by an EGF receptor inhibitor, but not by Src inhibition. These results suggested that OVA-induced EGF-related contraction was mediated by the Rho kinase-dependent inactivation of MLCP via two different signaling cascades: Src-dependent phosphorylation of the EGF receptor at Tyr-845 and EGF-dependent phosphorylation of Erk1/2.
