A time-variable time-of-use electricity price can be used to reduce the charging costs for electric vehicle(EV)*** the uncertainty of price fluctuation and the randomness of EV owner’s commuting behavior,we propose a deep reinforcement learning based method for the minimization of individual EV charging *** charging problem is first formulated as a Markov decision process(MDP),which has unknown transition probability.A modified long short-term memory(LSTM)neural network is used as the representation layer to extract temporal features from the electricity price *** deep deterministic policy gradient(DDPG)algorithm,which has continuous action spaces,is used to solve the *** proposed method can automatically adjust the charging strategy according to electricity price to reduce the charging cost of the EV *** other methods to solve the charging problem are also implemented and quantitatively compared with the proposed method which can reduce the charging cost up to 70.2%compared with other benchmark methods.

Growing importance of urogenital candidiasis in individuals with diabetes:A narrative review

Both diabetes and fungal infections contribute significantly to the global disease burden,with increasing trends seen in most developed and developing countries during recent *** is reflected in urogenital infections caused by Candida species that are becoming ever more pervasive in diabetic patients,particularly those that present with unsatisfactory glycemic *** addition,a relatively new group of anti-hyperglycemic drugs,known as sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors,has been linked with an increased risk for colonization of the urogenital region with Candida spp.,which can subsequently lead to an infectious *** this review paper,we have highlighted notable virulence factors of Candida species(with an emphasis on Candida albicans)and shown how the interplay of many pathophysiological factors can give rise to vulvovaginal candidiasis,potentially complicated with recurrences and dire pregnancy *** have also addressed an increased risk of candiduria and urinary tract infections caused by species of Candida in females and males with diabetes,further highlighting possible complications such as emphysematous cystitis as well as the risk for the development of balanitis and balanoposthitis in(primarily uncircumcised)*** a steadily increasing global burden of diabetes,urogenital mycotic infections will undoubtedly become more prevalent in the future;hence,there is a need for an evidence-based approach from both clinical and public health perspectives.

Urban Planning Based on Nature—A Nature-Based Solution

After an international contest announced by the City of Abu Dhabi “Cool Abu Dhabi Challenge”1 and the article published as a digest of a paper titled A Nature-based Solution [1], the decision has been made to take part in improving thermal comfort in public spaces by mitigating the impact of the effect of Urban Heat Islands (UHI)2 in the city of the Belgrade. The basic research aims at achieving the balance between the conflicting impacts when the buildings with their infrastructure and water-green surrounding area are in such correlation that it fulfils acceptable living and heating standards and reduces the use of fossil fuels for cooling the urban areas (buildings). By implementing the remote detection it is possible to analyze and quantify the impact of over-building on the temperature rise in urban areas as well as the disturbance of the heating comfort and the increased demand for additional cooling. Now it is possible to create virtual models that will incorporate this newly-added urban vegetation into urban plans, depending on the evaporation potential that will affect the microclimate of the urban area. Such natural cooling can be measured and adapted and hence aimed at a potential decrease in areas with UHI emissions [2]. Suitable greenery in the summer season can be a useful improvement which concurrently enables and complements several cooling mechanisms—evaporative cooling and evapotranspiration, i.e. natural cooling systems. The remote detection shall establish and map the “healthy” and “unhealthy” greenery zones—that is the vegetation zones with the highest evaporative potential with the “cooling by evaporation” effect and also, by implementing the urban prediction model, it shall propose green infrastructure corridors aimed at a potential decrease in the Urban Heat Island Emission.

Immunity of electronic and transport properties of phosphorene nanoribbons to edge defects

We present an extensive study of the electronic properties and carrier transport in phosphorene nanoribbons （PNRs） with edge defects by using rigorous atomistic quantum transport simulations. This study reports on the size- and defect-dependent scaling laws governing the transport gap, and the mean free path and carrier mobility in the PNRs of interest for future nanoelectronics applications. Our results indicate that PNRs with armchair edges （aPNRs） are more immune to defects than zig-zag PNRs （zPNRs）, while both PNR types exhibit superior immunity to defects relative to graphene nanoribbons （GNRs）. An investigation of the mean free path demonstrated that even in the case of a low defect density the transport in PNRs is diffusive, and the carrier mobility remains a meaningful transport parameter even in ultra-small PNRs. We found that the electron-hole mobility asymmetry （present in large-area phosphorene） is retained only in zPNRs for W 〉 4 nrn, while in other cases the asymmetry is smoothed out by edge defect scattering. Furthermore, we showed that aPNRs outperform both zPNRs and GNRs in terms of carrier mobility, and that PNRs generally offer a superior mobility-bandgap trade-off, relative to GNRs and monolayer MoS2. This work identifies PNRs as a promising material for the extremely scaled transistor channels in future posbsilicon electronic technology, and presents a persuasive argument for experimental work on nanostructured phosphorene.

Impact of the earthquake during COVID-19 lockdown on fracture admission at a tertiary trauma centre in Croatia

Purpose:To determine the impact of an earthquake during COVID-19 lockdown on fracture admission at a tertiary trauma centre in ***:A case-control study was performed at the tertiary trauma centre *** different periods were *** case group included a period during COVID-19 lockdown right after the earthquakes until the end of the confinement period in *** the control group corresponded to the equivalent period in *** identified all consecutive patients who were admitted due to urgent care requirements for the musculoskeletal ***'s demographic data and admitting diagnoses were *** were analyzed by statistical procedures using the program MedCalc statistical software version ***:We identified 178 emergency admissions due to musculoskeletal *** the COVID-19 lockdown and post-earthquake period,there was a drastic reduction in total admissions(359 vs.662;p<0.0001)with an increased proportion of trauma admissions within the emergency admissions(34.9%vs.26.5%;p=0.02926,Z=-2.1825).Furthermore,in the case group there was a significant increase in hospital admissions due to ankle/foot trauma(11 vs.2,p 0.0126)and a trend towards a decrease in the admissions due to tibia fractures(5 vs.12,p=0.0896),however without statistical ***,an increased proportion of women within the group of femoral fractures in both case group(81.6%vs.52.6%,p=0.00194,Z=3.1033)and the control group(82.3%vs.60.5%,p=0.0232,Z=2.2742)was *** both analyzed periods,the osteoporotic hip fracture was the most common independent admitting ***:It is crucial to understand how natural disasters like earthquakes influence the pattern of trauma admissions during a coexisting ***,healthcare systems have to be prepared for an increased influx of certain pathology,like foot and ankle trauma.

Diabetes mellitus,a chronic disease of metabolism,is characterized by a disordered production or cellular utilization of *** foot disease,which comprises the spectrum of infection,ulceration,and gangrene,is one of the most severe complications of diabetes and is the most common cause of hospitalization in diabetic *** aim of this study is to provide an evidence-based overview of diabetic foot *** to neuropathy,diabetic foot infections can occur in the form of ulcers and minor skin *** patients with diabetic foot ulcers,ischemia and infection are the main causes of non-healing ulcers and *** compromises the immune system of individuals with diabetes,leading to persistent inflammation and delayed wound *** addition,the treatment of diabetic foot infections is challenging due to difficulty in accurate identification of pathogenic microorganisms and the widespread issue of antimicrobial *** a further complicating factor,the warning signs and symptoms of diabetic foot problems can easily be *** associated with diabetic foot complications include peripheral arterial disease and osteomyelitis;accordingly,the risk of these complications in people with diabetes should be assessed *** antimicrobial agents represent the mainstay of treatment for diabetic foot infections,if peripheral arterial disease is present,revascularization should be considered to prevent limb amputation.A multidisciplinary approach to the prevention,diagnosis,and treatment of diabetic patients,including those with foot ulcers,is of the utmost importance to reduce the cost of treatment and avoid major adverse consequences such as amputation.
