A techno-economic and life cycle assessment for the production of green methanol from CO_(2): catalyst and process bottlenecks

The success of catalytic schemes for the large-scale valorization of CO_(2) does not only depend on the development of active,selective and stable catalytic materials but also on the overall process *** we present a multidisciplinary study(from catalyst to plant and techno-economic/lifecycle analysis)for the production of green methanol from renewable H2 and CO_(2).We combine an in-depth kinetic analysis of one of the most promising recently reported methanol-synthesis catalysts(InCo)with a thorough process simulation and techno-economic *** then perform a life cycle assessment of the simulated process to gauge the real environmental impact of green methanol production from CO_(2).Our results indicate that up to 1.75 ton of CO_(2) can be abated per ton of produced methanol only if renewable energy is used to run the process,while the sensitivity analysis suggest that either rock-bottom H2 prices(1.5$kg1)or severe CO_(2) taxation(300$per ton)are needed for a profitable methanol ***,we herein highlight and analyze some critical bottlenecks of the *** attention has been paid to the contribution of H2 to the overall plant costs,CH4 trace formation,and purity and costs of raw *** addition to providing important information for policy makers and industrialists,directions for catalyst(and therefore process)improvements are outlined.

Depilatory double-disc mouse model for evaluation of vesicant dermal injury pharmacotherapy countermeasures

Background:Sulfur mustard(SM)is a chemical warfare vesicant that severely injures exposed eyes,lungs,and *** hydrochloride(NM)is widely used as an SM *** study aimed to develop a depilatory double-disc(DDD)NM skin burn model for investigating vesicant pharmacotherapy ***:Hair removal method(clipping only versus clipping followed by a depilatory),the effect of acetone in the vesicant administration vehicle,NM dose(0.5-20μmol),vehicle volume(5-20μl),and time course(0.5-21 days)were investigated using male and female CD-1 ***,an indicator of burn response,was assessed by biopsy skin *** ideal NM dose to induce partial-thickness burns was assessed by edema and histopathologic *** optimized DDD model was validated using an established reagent,NDH-4338,a cyclooxygenase,inducible nitric oxide synthase,and acetylcholinesterase inhibitor ***:Clipping/depilatory resulted in a 5-fold higher skin edematous response and was highly reproducible(18-fold lower%CV)compared to clipping *** did not affect edema *** edema occurred 24-48 h after NM administra-tion using optimized dosing methods and *** partial-thickness burns were achieved with 5μmol of NM and responded to treatment with *** dif-ferences in burn edematous responses were observed between males and ***:A highly reproducible and sensitive partial-thickness skin burn model was developed for assessing vesicant pharmacotherapy *** model pro-vides clinically relevant wound severity and eliminates the need for organic solvents that induce changes to the skin barrier function.

Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(RDS),also known as hyaline membrane disease,is a leading cause of neonatal mortality in the US,which affects 1%of all newborns and 10%of preterm babies[1,2].It is also one of the most common causes of admission to neonatal intensive care unit[3].Preeclampsia(PE)is a common pregnancy complication that affects an estimated 5%of pregnancies across the world[4].It is a significant cause of low birth weight and preterm delivery,which are risk factors for RDS[5].However,in the literature,the relationship between PE and RDS remains controversial[6-9].

This paper deals with the existence and uniqueness of mild solutions to neutral stochastic delay functional integro-differential equations perturbed by a fractional Brownian motion BH, with Hurst parameter H E （1/2, 1）. We use the theory of resolvent operators developed by R. Grimmer to show the existence of mild solutions. An example is provided to illustrate the results of this work.

My Journey to DNA Repair

I completed my medical studies at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm but have always been devoted to basic research. My longstanding interest is to understand fundamental DNA repair mechanisms in the fields of cancer therapy, inherited human genetic disorders and ancient DNA. I initially measured DNA decay, including rates of base loss and cytosine deamination. I have dis- covered several important DNA repair proteins and determined their mechanisms of action. The discovery of uracil-DNA glycosylase defined a new category of repair enzymes with each specialized for different types of DNA damage. The base excision repair pathway was first reconstituted with human proteins in my group. Cell-free analysis for mammalian nucleotide excision repair of DNA was also developed in my laboratory. I found multiple distinct DNA ligases in mammalian cells, and led the first genetic and biochemical work on DNA ligases I, III and IV. I discovered the mam- malian exonucleases DNase III （TREX1） and IV （FEN1）. Interestingly, expression of TREXI was altered in some human autoimmune diseases. I also showed that the mutagenic DNA adduct O6-methylguanine （O6mG） is repaired without removing the guanine from DNA, identifying a sur- prising mechanism by which the methyl group is transferred to a residue in the repair protein itself. A further novel process of DNA repair discovered by my research group is the action of AlkB as an iron-dependent enzyme carrying out oxidative demethylation.

Simulation and calibration of granules using the discrete element method

The discrete element method （DEM）, developed by Cundall and 5track to solve geomecnamcai problems, is used to simulate the mechanical behavior of granules. According to the DEM, an individ ual granule can be modeled as a realistic mechanical system consisting of primary particles bonded by interaction forces. Cranulometric properties of the model material, zeolite 4A, have been measured to determine their macro properties. To investigate the compression behavior, a compression test was performed using a strength tester on single granules between two pistons. A modeled granule consisting of more than 22,000 primary particles was generated. The micro properties of the modeled granule have been precisely set to allow its macro properties to be equivalent to the macro properties of zeolite 4A granules. To calibrate the mechanical properties, diametrical compression was simulated using two rigid walls stressed at a constant stressing velocity, The force-displacement curve of the modeled granule at compression has been calibrated by the experimental curve of zeolite 4A.

目前学界对制度变革给予较大关注，但主要基于“行动者中心”视角，聚焦于按阶段顺利开展的制度变革过程。本研究脱离这一线性轨迹，基于多主体互动视角，研究了不同组织场域成员目标一致性在制度变革中的作用。通过对中国婴幼儿配方奶粉行业的深入案例研究，本文提出基于内生僵局的非线性制度变革过程。研究表明，婴幼儿配方奶粉行业制度变革经历了三个“目标背离—临时制度方案—内生制度僵局—新目标背离”的循环后，制度变革才彻底发生。内生制度僵局是目标背离的结果，而组织场域内制度空隙则是影响僵局规模和破坏性的重要因素。同时，僵局引发组织场域成员目标转变。每次僵局过后，至少有一类成员对自身目标和行动进行调试，从僵局中找到新的发展路线。正是在这种反复的僵局和调试中，制度被不断解构和重构。最终，组织场域成员目标聚合，制度变革得以实现。中国婴幼儿配方奶粉行业的发展轨迹反映了我国产业升级过程中制度变革的过程，也说明了组织场域成员目标一致性及制度空隙在制度变革中的重要作用。

A detailed reconstruction of changes in the factors and parameters of soil erosion over the past 250 years in the forest zone of European Russia(Moscow region)

Accelerated soil erosion is a major threat to soil,and there are great variations in the rate of soil erosion over time due to natural and human-induced *** temperate forest zone of Russia is character-ized by complex stages of land-use history(*** urbanization,agricultural development,land abandonment,etc.).We have for the first time estimated the rates of soil erosion by the WaTEM/SEDEM model(rainfall erosion)and by a regional model(snowmelt erosion)over the past 250 years(from 1780 to 2019)for a 100-km2 study site in the Moscow region of *** calculations were made on the basis of a detailed historical reconstruction of the following factors:the location of the arable land,crop rotation,the rain erosivity factor,and the maximum snow water *** area of arable land has decreased more than 3.5-fold over the past 250 *** the end of the 20th century,the rates of gross erosion had declined more than 5.5-fold(from 28×10^(3) to 5×10^(3) t·ha^(-1)yr^(-1))in comparison with the end of the 18th *** in the boundaries of arable land and also the relief features had led to a significant intra-slope accumulation of *** a result of sediment redeposition within the arable land,the variation in net soil erosion was significantly lower than the variation in gross soil *** changes in arable land area and in crop composition are the factors that have to the greatest extent determined the changes in soil erosion in this territory.

Analysis of the Water Film Behavior and its Breakup on Profile using Experimental and Numerical Methods

This paper deals with the description of water film behaviour on the airfoil NACA0012 using experimental and numerical methods. Properties of the water film on the profile and its breakup into droplets behind the profile are investigated in the aerodynamic tunnel and using CFD methods. The characteristic parameters of the water film, like its thickness and shape for different flow modes are described. Hereafter are described droplets drifted by the air, which water film is broken behind the profile.

Cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s disease correlates with the extent of tau pathology,in particular tau hyperphosphorylation that initially appears in the transentorhinal and related regions of the brain including the *** evidence indicates that tau hyperphosphorylation caused by either amyloid-βor long-term depression,a form of synaptic weakening involved in learning and memory,share similar *** from our group and others demonstrate that long-term depression-inducing low-frequency stimulation triggers tau phosphorylation at different residues in the hippocampus under different experimental conditions including ***,certain forms of long-term depression at hippocampal glutamatergic synapses require endogenous tau,in particular,phosphorylation at residue *** the exact mechanisms of interaction between tau and long-term depression may help our understanding of the physiological and pathological functions of tau/tau(hyper)*** first summarize experimental evidence regarding tau-long-term depression interactions,followed by a discussion of possible mechanisms by which this interplay may influence the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s ***,we conclude with some thoughts and perspectives on future research about these interactions.
